18 January 2004 - Trust issues

Tegan and Nessa

Mordred

Mordred paced his and Gwen's bedroom, then turned around and went back the other way.

It was official.

He was losing his mind. The twins wanted their mother, Faolan wanted to see Gwen again...hell, he wanted to see Gwen again. Talk to her. Something. Anything. Something better then nothing.

His back straightened slightly.

Well, was he a teleporter or not?

Obviously he was.

Mordred 'ported.

Gwen

Billy pinched the bridge of his nose again.

"That line doesn't fit," he said.

They'd moved back to Gwen's hotel room for a longer rehearsal, because Orlando had promptly announced that he needed sleep, and that he could still hear them from upstairs.

"Yeah, it really doesn't," Dom agreed. "But I don't know what else to put."

"You could just cut it. I mean, think, if you cut that, you just cut Bill's line there and mine, and then it would just... you know, not be in there. It's not needed," Gwen said, studying her script.

"Very true." Billy bit his bottom lip. "But I kinda like the joke."

"Well, we could put it in somewhere else," Dom suggested.

Gwen flopped down on the bed, and looked over Dom's shoulder at the alterations he was making.

Mordred

Mordred turned around. Somehow, he'd managed to land himself backwards again. Probably just tiredness and stress.

"Ah...hello, Gwen."

He raised an eyebrow slightly and settled into a prepatory stance.

He didn't like this whole scenario laid out in front of him, and he wasn't really caring about who knew it.

Gwen

Gwen sat up and smiled.

"Hey you."

She hopped off the bed and went over to greet him properly.

"Ah..." Dom looked at Billy.

Mordred

"So..."

Mordred slid his hands around her waist, for the moment ignoring the two strange men in his wife's hotel room. He'd kill them later.

"Missed you."

Gwen

"Missed you too."

Billy cleared his throat softly and whispered to Dom. "They could be mutants."

"Probably," Dom replied.

"Mordred, this is Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan. I've been roped into doing some sort of play with them."

"Hey," Dom said, waving.

Mordred

"So...killing them would be a no?" Mordred asked Gwen.

He looked at Billy and Dom with thoughtful eyes. That glinted just that little bit with gold in the blue.

Gwen

"Would be frowned upon by many of the female population, so no."

Billy and Dom sort of eeped and looked away.

"Why don't we go in here, Bill," Dom said, getting up and dragging Billy to the only other room in the hotel room. The bathroom.

"So how've you been?" Gwen asked, touching Mordred's cheek gently.

Mordred

"Lonely, bored, exhausted," Mordred said.

"The kids miss you. When are you coming home? *I* miss you."

Gwen

"I was going to be coming home tomorrow, but..."

Gwen indicated the scripts lying around the room.

"That's going to be postponed."

Mordred

"Right."

Mordred frowned.

"You sure I can't kill them? The desire to do so keeps rising..."

Gwen

"Mordred," Gwen sighed.

She sat back down on the bed and started shuffling through the papers.

"No, you can't kill them. They are sorta my friends."

Mordred

"And still rising..."

Mordred looked out the window and sighed.

"You just...take off, and we hear nothing. I'm happy to give you space, whatever, but the twins at least, not to mention Fao would really, *really* appreciate at least a phone call."

She was leaving him. That's the only thing he could think of.

Gwen

"I needed time, Mordred."

Gwen looked at her hands and resisted the tears that were filling her eyes.

"I just couldn't be there after what happened. I just... I would've called, but then all this happened and there wasn't really a lot of time..."

Mordred

"Children, don't understand the concept of time," Mordred saidm turning to face her.

"All they know is that Mum's left and Dad's left trying to pick up the f*cking pieces. F*CK!"

He turned back to the window again and punched the wall. He only just managed to pull it so he didn't break the wall.

Gwen

"Fine, whatever, look, I'll call, ok?"

Gwen crossed her arms.

"What's really going on here?"

Mordred

"I want to spend some time with you," Mordred said in a low voice.

"I love you, Gwen. And you just..."

He shook his head slightly.

"You just don't seem to care."

Gwen

"I love you too, Mordred."

Gwen went over to him.

"How can you think I don't care?"

Mordred

"Because you left, and you keep leaving," Mordred said.

"If you want to keep on leaving, tell me, please. Cos I don't know how much more of this back and forth I can take. If you love me, and I love you, then what's the f*cking problem?"

Gwen

"The problem is that you don't seem to trust me at all," Gwen replied, stepping away from him.

Dom looked at Billy, then around the bathroom.

"Nice bathroom."

"Mmm."

Mordred

"Gwen, I decide to come and visit you since the extent of what I know is that you're still breathing, and I find two men in your bedroom I don't know," Mordred said.

"Perhaps you can see why trust kinda took a blow back there."

Gwen

"Your first reaction is to always not trust me. Just because you find them in my room, doesn't mean we're in the middle of something that I shouldn't be doing."

Gwen shook her head slightly.

Mordred

"My first reaction was, who the hell are these men? Are they possibly going to hurt my wife? If so, I will hurt them. Repeatedly."

Mordred glared at her and crossed his arms.

Gwen

"But even when you found out who they were, you still wanted to hurt them. You do this all the time."

Gwen sighed.

"I love that you care that much, but have faith in me, please."

Mordred

"I have faith in you."

Mordred lowered his head slightly.

"It's the members of my gender I don't have faith in."

Gwen

"You just... don't you think that if I was in trouble, I would call for you? Don't you think I could look after myself?"

Gwen closed her eyes for a moment.

Billy listened at the door.

"Do you think it's safe to go out?"

"Better not."

"But I need to use the toilet."

"Can you hold on?"

"I'll try."

Mordred

Mordred just raised an eyebrow at her.

"Yes, Gwen. Of course."

Gwen

"Whatever."

Gwen sighed.

"I mean, I think it's pretty clear that you don't trust me, when out of the two of us, it's not me who should not be trusted."

Mordred

"Very, very low blow," Mordred said in an almost snarl.

"My consent was *not* involved in that. But what happened with Oz had your full consent."

He lifted his head suddenly.

"I *really* do not want to get into this argument here."

Gwen

"Technically we were broken up when I f*cked Oz."

Gwen folded her arms and stood up.

"But whatever, it's obviously me who shouldn't be trusted, yeah."

Mordred

"And Legolas, again."

Mordred raised an eyebrow at her.

"If I get blamed for Nyx, you get blamed for the elf. Cariad."

Gwen

"Fine."

Gwen raised her eyebrow back.

"I'm so sick of this. Maybe... maybe we should just forget this."

As soon as the words came out of her mouth she regretted them.

Mordred

"F*ck..."

Mordred turned away and rubbed his hands through his hair.

"Gwen..."

He was seriously going to need to kill people after this.

Gwen

"God, I didn't mean that."

Gwen touched his shoulder.

Mordred

"You wouldn't say it if you didn't mean it, at least a little," Mordred said.

He didn't look at her.

Gwen

Well, he had a point there.

Gwen sighed.

"Look, maybe we just need to take a break, because obviously, something is not ok between us."

Mordred

"Well, I don't know what it is, Gwen," Mordred said in a low voice.

"Because I would do anything for you. You know that. I love you so much I could die from the pain, just from what happens when you're out of the room. We've been taking a break. You left."

Gwen

"That wasn't me leaving you, that was me needing time alone."

Gwen shook her head.

"I love you, but we're... we're always fighting lately, and there's something wrong."

Mordred

"You moved to another continent! What the f*ck else is it, but leaving?!" Mordred snarled.

Gwen

"Fine, I left! There, and looks like at the rate things are going with us, I won't be back!" Gwen yelled.

"I'm so sick of this, you know? Maybe... maybe this was all just a big mistake."

Mordred

"You think you're the only one sick of it, Gwen?" Mordred said.

He bit his lip and turned his head away.

"It was a mistake to even come. God. I'm *such* a f*ck up."

He disappeared.

To the corner of a bar. Right, violence here the Wolf came.

Gwen

"Mordred! Dammit!"

Gwen huffed and took a deep breath as Billy and Dom came back into the room.

"Ah... so... we should go."

"Hmmm," Gwen replied, wiping her eyes.

"Alright, come on Gwen. Put some shoes on. We're going to go get very drunk," Billy said.

Gwen smiled slightly.

Mordred

Mordred put his head in his hands and wept.

God.
