Demetria
Demetria put a hand to her head wearily as the party around her continued. Why oh why hadn't she managed to get out of this, like Octavian had? Because *he* had a gig tonight. So she had to go and pretend she was having an absolutely smashing time, darrrrling.
No, dammit. She was tired, her head hurt and she was sick of having guys hit on her who didn't seem to know the word 'no'. Add in the inane babble that characterised these things...it was definetly time to go home. She wasn't having fun, at all.
Demetria made her apologies and made her way to the front door of the house.
She'd catch a cab for a few blocks, then simply teleport home...
A hand reached out of the darkness near the front door and pulled her away from the door, closing it behind her. Demetria gasped, then relaxed when she saw who it was. Just loathsome, mouth breathing Jeremy.
"What do you want, Jeremy? I'm going home."
"Come back to my house," he persisted.
"Jeremy, there is simply no polite way of putting this. No way in hell would I go anywhere near your house, and most specifically, your bedroom. The very thought makes me nauseaus. Good *night*."
Demetria turned to go, but Jeremy grabbed her again and slammed her hands by the wrist above her head. Pinning her to the wall. Demetria's eyes and mouth went wide and shocked, unable to believe he was even daring, when he slid a knee between her legs. She cursed the long skirt she was wearing as Jeremy leant in to kiss her.
"Stop now, Jeremy. No."
"You don't mean it..."
"I assure you that I-"
Demetria's voice soared upwards in a sharp scream, cut off abruptly by an openhanded slap. She gasped for a moment, then gathered herself. She was an Edgerton-Smythe, dammit. And Edgerton-Smythe ladies did not submit. They kicked, scratched, bit and screamed bloody murder. But who was going to care in New York, or even hear her over the noise from the house?
Nevertheless, Demetria screamed again.
"No! Get OFF ME! Nooooooooooo!"
She bit at his hand and screamed again, before he slammed her head backwards into the wall.
"Nooo-ooooooo..."
She couldn't breathe. She was drowning.
Demetria pawed weakly at the man on top of her as he pulled down
her pants. She'd swallowed a lot of water and suddenly she threw up.
"God, that's disgusting," she heard him say and thanked god as he
moved off her.
Except he wasn't. Oh god.
Viggo and Elijah
Viggo and Elijah were walking back to Elijah's apartment when they
heard noises of the struggling kind.
Viggo tensed and ran in the direction of the struggle, swiftly
pulling the man of the young woman, and slamming him against the
wall.
"Maybe you should leave now, buddy," he said in a low voice.
Elijah went to help Demetria up.
"Are you ok?" he asked quietly.
Demetria
"I..."
Demetria gulped in air, very close to tears.
"I'm fine."
She straightened her back and glared at Jeremy.
"Give me five minutes and a knife and he won't be. He'll be singing
soprano."
She took refuge in her anger, otherwise she was just going to break
down and cry. And she couldn't afford to do that. Otherwsie she;d
never stop.
Demetria breathed in a shaky breath.
Viggo and Elijah
"Come on, we'll get you home, miss," Viggo said, letting go of
Jeremy and putting his arm around Demetria.
"Where do you live?" he asked, gently leading her away.
Elijah walked beside Viggo, quietly.
Demetria
"I live in Westchester," Demetria said, calming down slightly.
"I'm sorry, I haven't even said thank you yet."
Elijah and Viggo
"It's not a problem," Viggo replied. He thought for a second. "Would
you like us to get you a cab? Or would you rather us walk you there?"
Elijah smiled to himself at Viggo playing the hero. Not that it was
much of an act, for Mr Aragorn himself.
"I'm Elijah, by the way, and this is Viggo."
Demetria
"If it's not too far out of your way, I would appreciate it,"
Demetria said in her cultured accent.
"Demetria. Call me Dem, mostly everyone does. Pleased to meet you."
She laughed suddenly at the sheer banality of the conversation.
"Amazing, the way childhood politeness training stays. Despite
everything."
Viggo and Elijah
Viggo chuckled, and steered them all in the direction of Westchester.
"You don't need a doctor or anything, do you?" he asked in concern.
"Ignore Viggo, he's too used to playing the hero. Unless of course,
you do actually need a doctor, in which case, you should ignore my
commment," Elijah put in.
Demetria
Demetria shook her head slightly.
"No damage, just ruffled dignity."
She sighed and then said quietly under her breath,
"At least it's that way this time."
Viggo
After walking for awhile, Viggo stopped.
"Well, Westchester... where abouts are you in here?"
Demetria
Demetria looked around.
"It's a few streets over...I board at a school."
Let's not say which school, just in case you turn out to be rabid
mutant haters. Xavier's has been in the news recently.
Viggo
"Ah, ok."
Viggo started to lead them in the direction she indicated.
Demetria
"Thank you so much," Demetria said gratefully.
"I even take self defence classes, but it all seemed to go out the
window once he..."
Viggo and Elijah
"Hey, it could've happened to anyone," Elijah said
reassuringly. "Guys like that are scum, so don't give it a second
thought."
"Where now?" Viggo asked.
Demetria and Logan
"Here," Demetria said, coming up to the gates of the school.
She pressed the buzzer.
"Who's talkin'?" A low male voice growled out of the speaker.
"Logan, it's me. There was some trouble..."
"Why didn't you just kick ass in your refined British manner, then
come on home?"
"Logan, stop being a, a pain and let me in."
"Who's the company?" Logan said suspiciously.
A video camera in the entrance swiveled to regard Elijah and Viggo.
"Two gentlemen who helped me out of a difficult situation, then
walked me home," Demetria said in a frustrated voice.
"Be right there. Stay put, Spryte."
The small screen went blank and Demetria stomped her foot crossly.
"Honestly! He's so paranoid!"
Viggo and Elijah
Viggo took in the school with interest. Xavier's. So she was a
mutant.
"Hey, don't worry about it. Shows they care," Viggo said.
Elijah leaned over to Dem. "He only says that because he's paranoid
too."
Demetria and Displaced
"Trust me, Logan takes it to new and scary levels," Demetria said.
A panel van drove up and Jonothon leant his head out the window,
then turned to Octavian.
Sister. Two blokes.
"The hell you say!" Octavian exclaimed.
Stay in the back. Jonothon said privately to Sergei and
Angelo.
They might take offence.
"Da," Sergei agreed.
Octavian opened his door and Demetria waved.
"Good evening, Tavvie."
"Dem, what have I told you about picking up strange men?" Octavian
said mock sternly as he walked up.
She kicked him quite smartly, despite the long skirt and high heels.
"Ow, you're getting vicious in your old age. Octavian, her twin," he
introduced himself.
"I don't know how, we're nothing alike," Demetria said.
"I still maintain we found him on a doorstep. Or perhaps in a store."
"You wound me. I'm hurt. Jono, she's being nasty tonight," Octavian
said, turning to the van.
Jonothon waved a hand slightly.
"You deserve it," Demetria said.
"I had a perfectly awful night, and you should have *been* there..."
Viggo
"We should probably leave you now," Viggo said softly.
"He likes to disappear into the night, like a superhero," Elijah
said, nodding.
"And I ask why I'm still your friend."
"Because you love me."
Demetria, Octavian, Sergei and Logan
"We wonder why we keep this one around as well," Demetria said.
"Obviously, because you love me!"
Octavian picked Demetria up and whirled her around.
"Octavian Felix Edgerton-Smythe, put me down this INSTANT! This is
*highly* undignified!"
"You're getting a full name, tovarisch, you in deep trouble!" Sergei
called out.
Logan pulled the gates back and regarded Viggo and Elijah with
glowering suspicion. His nostrils widened slightly, then he looked
at them more closely. A glitter of gold ran across his eyes.
Elijah and Viggo
Elijah and Viggo backed off a bit.
"Anyway, we should get going."
Logan, Demetria and Octavian
Logan just growled.
Demetria frowned at him.
"Really, you're so rude."
An unamused grin flitted across the older mutant's face.
"I happen to like living, thanks. Let's get the van in and away."
"Oh yes, we got paid, Dem! Isn't it fantastic? First real gig!"
"Yes, I'm very very happy for you. Put me down now, please. Eep!"
Octavian dumped Demetria on her feet and she swayed for a moment,
before she surriptiously levitated herself.
"Thank you, so much," Demetria said, looking at Viggo and Elijah,
smiling her brilliant smile.
"You've no idea how thankful I am..."
"Dem..."
Octavian switched from slightly offbeat prankster to concerned older
brother in a second.
"Later, Tavvie."
Elijah and Viggo
"Not a problem."
Elijah saluted as he and Viggo started to leave.
Displaced, Logan and Demetria
"You have no idea who they are, do you?" Octavian said in a slightly
amused voice.
Demetria looked at him, clearly puzzled.
Jonothon snickered.
Anyway, they're both mutants, so it matters what?
"Oh thank god, this van stinks. Where the *hell* did you get it?"
Sergei said, kicking the doors open.
Logan just hid his face in his hands as one of the more unsual
looking mutants of the school came out under the light.
"Why oh why me?"
"Because you're oh so good at what you do," Octavian said.
Logan snarled at him.
"Ooh, scary. I almost shuddered then."
Logan's eyes promised death. Octavian mock-gasped, then swooned
dramatically.
"Drama queen."
"All the time, darrrrrling," Octavian purred, sounding outrageously
camp.
Viggo and Elijah
"So... we're all mutants here, interesting," Viggo commented softly.
"Well it is a mutant school, Viggo," Elijah said patiently.
"Quiet, Lij."
"I mean, sometimes you can be a little odd - "
"Elijah..."
"Like when you fell in love with the man woman."
"I'm going to kill Dom for saying that."
"Suck it up, Vig."
Octavian, Demetria, Sergei and Logan
"You know what would be interesting?" Octavian said to Demetria.
"What?" she said in a tone of forebearance.
"Getting the actors of the Fellowship, to meet the actual
Fellowship."
Logan covered his eyes again and shook his head slightly.
"Feral...think, please god, think before you open your mouth, bub."
"What?" Octavian said.
"Highly unlikely they're going to believe me."
A sudden comprehension flickered across Demetria's face.
"Oh look, she knows who you are now. Bloody amazing powers of
comrpehension you're showing, Demetria. Guess you really are a
natural blonde."
Sergei snickered at Octavian's dry tone.
Viggo and Elijah
"So... this really is a school for mutants?" Viggo asked in interest.
"He's slow. Give him time. Once he knows something, he can be very
smar," Elijah said, nodding. "But look, he's caught on now, and so
he'll be happy for a few moments."
"Elijah," Viggo said, in a warning tone.
"Yes Viggo?"
"Nevermind."
Demetria and Displaced
Demetria covered her mouth with her hand slightly.
"You know, Dawn is just going to die."
"We can only hope," Octavian sighed.
"Despite that, she's elsewhere."
"Ok...Kitty will die. All the Whiny My Life Is So Much Worse Then
Yours Bitch Patrol will all die. Possibly literally."
"And again, we can only hope," Sergei said, leaning against the van.
And we can save on a joint funeral.
Jonothon rolled his eyes.
Should I transcribe Dem's thoughts at this point in time?
Demetria whirled to face the van.
"Don't you *dare*, Jonothon."
Oh my goodness, I can't believe it Elijah Wood and Viggo
Mortenson! Oh god...please let me not do anything else stupid
tonight.
"*You* are a dead man," Demetria said.
Elijah and Viggo
Elijah shook his head slightly.
"Look, we really should get going - "
"Or your sister is going to have a heart attack, think we've been
killed in the streets of New York."
"But my brave Aragorn would save me!" Elijah joked in a high pitched
voice.
"Shut up, Lij. Anyway, good meeting you all," Viggo said, saluting.
"Yeah, and good to see you're ok, Demetria. Hope to run into you
again someday."
Elijah and Viggo started to head off again.
Demetria, Logan and Displaced
"Nice meeting you too," Octavian said.
Demetria had her hands over her face and blushing that deep, deep
red that comes so easily to people of really fair skin.
See ya, cobbers. Logan, can we get this inside? We need to unpack
the band equipment.
Logan stepped back and Sergei closed the back doors. Jonothon drove
the van through the gates, motor skipping slightly.
"Piece of junk," Sergei said in disgust.
"We're struggling musos, what do you expect, Russki?" Octavian said
as he tugged on Demetria's arm to make her move.
"Bite me, Brit Boy."
"You should know by now not to make comments like that around me..."
"F*CK! Ow!"
Elijah and Viggo
"That was interesting," Elijah said to Viggo as they walked back to
his apartment.
"Very."
