13 January 2004 - Distracting a Slayer

Written by Tegan

Heath, Sophie & Elizabette

Heath held out his hand to Elizabette as she descended regally from the car.

"We hunt?" he suggested with an arch of his eyebrow.

With extreme distaste, he'd dressed back down to the clothes he'd worn when he was alive. Flannel shirt, faded jeans and hair ungelled and uncombed. Loser. Country boy hick.

He growled softly as he followed her out onto the streets of London. Bleah. If he wasn't looking so forward to scaring Sophie out of her knickers, there was no way he would do this. Oh, dammit, yes he would. One bat of Elizabette's eyelashes and he'd do anything she asked. Even sleep with Angelus if she asked it. And he was really uncertain about that idea.

They fed, finding prey quickly in the crowded streets of London, then they headed across town to Sophie's house. Heath knocked on her door, Elizabette staying to the shadows.

"Heath!" Sophie said in delight, opening the door.

"Why didn't you call to say you'd be in England?"

"Spur of the moment thing," Heath said.

He smiled at her, she smiled back. Something was niggling at her. She didn't invite him in.

"Heath, where's your cross?" Sophie asked suddenly.

"I don't need it anymore," Heath said softly, vampiing out.

Sophie gasped, then slammed the door in his face. She slid down it, crying softly. Oh god.

Heath smiled, fangs retracting as he heard Elizabette's delighted giggles.

"That was astonishing darling Childe, and she so nearly invited you in," Elizabette said.

"But this way, we get to play."

Both vampires could smell the salt of tears through the door, and they laughed as they walked off.

Sophie buried her face in her hands. She'd have to tell Dad and Robyn not to invite Heath in. And she should warn the Braddocks too. Oh god. Heath...
