Gwen
Gwen sighed slightly as she went about cleaning the house. She was in a pretty bad mood... lately actually, and she wasn't quite sure why. She was feeling annoyed at Mordred, just the way he was always there. Sure, she loved him, but sometimes, enough was enough already.
She wasn't used to living with another person, or always being with someone. She liked her freedom, liked knowing who she was, but lately she was beginning to think she was losing part of who she was.
And that scared her.
Gwen shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts as she looked at her car keys. She picked them up and flipped them in her hand as she went outside and stared at her car, wondering if she should just drive for hours and not come back for awhile.
Mordred
Mordred settled the twins and went outside. He leant on the railing near the front door and watched her.
"Need to clear your head?"
Gwen
"Yeah."
Understatement.
Gwen looked at him.
"You mind?"
Mordred
Mordred shook his head.
"Long as you come back."
He sighed slightly.
"I'll watch the kids."
Gwen
Gwen bit her lip, not knowing how long she was going to go for.
"Cool, thanks. I'll... I'll see you later then."
She opened the car door and hopped in.
Ok, maybe she'd go to LA and hang out with Gunn for a bit.
Mordred
Mordred watched her get in the car.
God, this hurt.
Gwen and Paige
Gwen pulled over at the nearest side street and flipped out her cell phone, dialling in the Halliwells.
Moments later, Paige had orbed in and took her to the Hyperion, then left.
Gwen walked into the lobby and saw Gunn sitting on the couch, studying a book of some sort.
"Hey you," she said softly.
"Gwen!" Gunn looked up, smiling. "What's up?"
"Just wondering if I could hang out here for a bit. Just watch TV, that sorta thing."
He raised an eyebrow. "Ok... come on then."
He led her upstairs to his room and they flopped down on the couch.
MOrdred
Mordred walked back inside, heart already aching. He knew she was alright. But other then that...he was letting her be.
God.
He sat down on the couch and Faolan crawled into his lap. Mordred held his son and closed his eyes.
Gwen
"So when are you going back?" Gunn asked, flicking the channels.
"I don't know... maybe never," Gwen said, smiling feebily.
"You don't mean that."
"No... I don't. But I don't know... I'm just... I'm not used to this whole part of a couple thing... and..."
"And forever seems like a long time?"
"Exactly."
Gwen looked at her phone and went through all the pictures she'd taken, and most of them were of her and Mordred.
It wasn't bad... it just... it was getting too much.
Mordred
Eventually, Mordred got up, got the twins and they all gravitated to his and Gwen's bed. Just laying with each other and being close. Faolan slept across Mordred's chest, curled up in cat form and Eavan and Bryant were happy to babble to Mordred.
He listened and pretended that Gwen was there as well.
Gwen, Paige and Bobby
After an hour, Gwen kissed Gunn's forehead and called for Paige again.
"Keep in touch?" he said.
"I will."
She took Paige's hand and waved goodbye as they arrived at Xaviers. Where she ran into Bobby, who was looking pretty depressed himself.
"Hey you," she said. "What's up?"
"Julie."
"Ah."
Gwen bit her lip and took his hand.
"Come on, let's go have a chat."
Mordred
Eventually, Evean and Bryant fell asleep. Faolan's rumbling purrs continued.
Mordred still felt uneasy and he couldn't shake it.
Gwen and Bobby
Gwen and Bobby lay on Bobby's bed, their legs up against the wall.
"So you finally worked out you loved Julie?" Gwen asked. "But now you feel like it's too late?"
"Yeah. And you know you're in love with Mordred, but you're getting smothered."
"Mmmmhmmm."
Gwen let out a laugh.
"God, we're both such idiots, aren't we?"
Bobby tried to laugh, but ultimately just let out a sob.
"Oh hey..." Gwen sighed and sat up. She pulled him up and hugged him gently, then as she went to pull away, he moved forward and kissed her.
Mordred
Mordred ran his fingers through Faolan's thick fur.
He hoped Gwen was alright. He couldn't always tell. But she was back in New York now.
That was good, right?
Gwen and Bobby
Gwen kissed Bobby back for a moment, then pulled back, her hand going to her mouth.
"Ah... that was... unexpected."
Bobby looked at his feet.
"Sorry."
"Um."
Gwen hopped up from the bed and walked over to his desk, sitting down on the chair.
"I just... that shouldn't've happened."
"No, but..." Bobby stood up and walked over to her. "It helps to forget this way, doesn't it?"
He leaned down and kissed her again, hands sliding up her legs.
Mordred
Mordred closed his eyes.
God, he was so tired. And Faolan's purr was really hypnotic...
Gwen and Bobby
"But this is just going to lead to more problems," Gwen said, breaking off the kiss.
Bobby sighed. "Yeah. I know."
She kissed his cheek. "Come on, we're past this."
"Yeah."
Gwen went back and sat next to him on the bed.
"I love you too, you know," Bobby told her. "Maybe not the way I love Julie, but..."
"I understand. I love you too." Gwen smiled and hugged him again. "But I probably should get home."
"You going to be ok?"
"I don't know."
Gwen kissed his head and left, running from Xavier's to her house. She opened the door quietly and walked in.
Faolan
Faolan lifted his head slightly, having very successfully put Mordred to sleep so he'd stop worrying.
We're upstairs," he told Gwen.
"Twins are asleep."
Gwen
"Thanks," Gwen replied.
She walked up the stairs and into her room. She sighed and lifted Bryant and Eavan up carefully, taking them back to their room. She settled them into their beds and walked into her room again. She pulled off her shoes and grabbed her pyjamas and went into the bathroom to get changed.
Faolan
Faolan got up and stretched fluidly.
"I put him to sleep. He was worrying too much."
Gwen
Gwen stepped out of the bathroom and went and lay down next to Mordred, running her fingers over his back gently.
"Do you want me to tuck you into your bed?" she asked quietly.
Faolan
"No, I'll be good."
Faolan padded out of the room, then turned and raced back, leaping onto the bed lightly in his cat form. He walked across the bed, then shifted into human. He kissed her cheek, then shifted back down again.
"Love you, Mum. And ah...make sure he doesn't kill Bobby. I like Bobby."
Gwen
Gwen sighed and kissed Mordred's forehead softly.
She was going to be in so much trouble when he woke up.
She lay down on the bed and rolled over, trying to get comfortable.
Faolan
Faolan released the hold on Mordred's mind, and the teen rolled over slightly, sleepily putting an arm around Gwen's waist. He pressed a kiss to the back of her neck.
Gwen
Gwen entwined their fingers, biting her lip slightly.
"How can you lay here like this after what you've done?" a little voice taunted her.
Mordred
Mordred sighed softly and happily, holding her closer. He buried his face in her hair, breathing in the soft even patterns of sleep.
Gwen
"I can't..."
Gwen disentangled herself from his arms and got out of the bed. With a kiss to Mordred's forehead, she left their room and went downstairs and unfolded the couch. She switched on the TV to a low volume and started to fall asleep.
Mordred
Mordred woke up soon after she left, slowly and dazedly.
He got up out of bed and went to find her.
"Hey, cariad..." he said softly.
Gwen
"Hey."
Gwen pulled the blanket tighter around her.
Mordred
"What's wrong?" Mordred asked quietly.
"And why are you sleeping on the couch?"
Gwen
Gwen sighed and flipped the TV off.
"I... Bobby kissed me."
Mordred
"Bobby...kissed you," Mordred said slowly.
He blinked.
"Right. Dead Bobby."
Gwen
"No!"
Gwen sat up.
"Look, it was a mistake, and he knows it too, please don't kill him."
MOrdred
"But...I really really want to," Mordred said.
Gwen
"You kill him and what does that solve?"
Gwen reached for his arm.
"We're just going to have a dead body on our hands and the same problems."
Mordred
"No, we just have a body problem," Mordred said stubbornly.
"And we already know that's easily solved."
Gwen
"Mordred..."
Gwen moved closer to him.
"Please, just... yell at me or something, God knows I deserve it."
Mordred
"I don't want to yell at you," Mordred said.
"I...Gwen, god. I just..."
He shook his head.
"I'm not going to yell. I'm just going to kill Bobby."
Gwen
Gwen's eyes filled with tears.
"I'm sorry... please, don't kill him, he didn't know what he was doing."
Mordred
"Fine! I won't kill him! Happy?!"
Mordred spun on his heel and headed for thee garage.
Gwen
Gwen closed her eyes and let her tears fall as she hugged a pillow to her chest.
She was going to lose him over a kiss she hadn't even wanted and that wasn't even that good.
Mordred
Mordred started his bike with an angry snarl and roared out of their driveway, nearly blinded by tears. He just had to get away before he did or said something stupid.
Gwen
Gwen went up to her and Mordred's room and closed the door, then locked it. She lay on their bed and sobbec quietly.
She deserved this.
Mordred
Mordred hit the bars in a bad end of town. He wanted to hurt someone, and hurt them bad.
He was looking for trouble and he found it.
Gwen
Gwen's eyes shakily focused on the pocket knife in their room. She clenched her fists and closed her eyes, willing the urge to come back.
"Nonononono," she whispered, walking over and picking the knife up. Through her tears, she managed to slice across her wrist.
Faolan
Faolan sat bolt upright in bed, breath coming in pants.
"Mum? Mum!"
He ran out of bed to her room.
Gwen
Gwen sliced into her other arm, then with shakey hands, she tossed the knife away from her, tears falling onto the blood.
"I'm sorry..."
Faolan
"No, nononono," Faolan said.
He looked at the blood.
"He was coming back! He was gonna come back! Oh goddess!"
Gwen
Gwen's eyes closed as she swayed, dazed with the loss of blood.
"He won't come back... I've done it this time," she mumbled sadly as a fresh batch of tears came on.
Mordred
"Oh goddess! DAD!" Faolan screamed.
Mordred appeared, half swinging a punch. His clothes were ripped but there wasn't a bruise on him.
"What? I was...oh god, Gwen! Go get the first aid kit," he snapped at Faolan.
The kid raced off as Mordred crossed to Gwen.
"Oh god, cariad..."
Gwen
"It's ok... you don't have to stay... I know I screwed up."
Gwen closed her eyes. She didn't want to look into his eyes and see that he hated her.
Mordred
"Gwen, why?"
Mordred pressed a kiss to her forehead, then grabbed both her wrists putting pressure on the wounds.
"I was always going to come back."
Gwen
"I... I don't know."
Gwen looked away.
Mordred
Faolan appeared and Mordred started to bandage her up.
"Do you need to go to hospital?"
Gwen
"No, I'm alright. Really."
Gwen waited for Mordred to finish and then she stood and went into the bathroom.
Mordred
"Gwen..." Mordred said slowly.
"Why? I just want to know, why."
Gwen
"I didn't think you'd be coming back," Gwen said simply.
"And to be honest, I didn't think you were wrong to leave."
Mordred
"God, Gwen..."
Mordred shook his head.
"Do you trust me so little?"
Gwen
"No, it's not that..."
Gwen looked at herself in the mirror.
"I just thought I'd messed it up completely this time."
Mordred
"Until you tell me to get the hell out, I'm staying," Mordred said simply.
"I love you."
Gwen
"I love you too."
Gwen closed her eyes for a moment.
"I'm sorry."
Mordred
"S'ok," Mordred said.
"Can't exactly throw stones here."
Gwen
"I just..."
Gwen walked over and sat on the bed.
"I didn't want to... with Bobby, you know."
Mordred
"I know."
Mordred kissed her sweetly.
Gwen
"How can you just... forgive me?"
Gwen put her arms around Mordred's neck and buried her head in his shoulder.
Mordred
"Because I love you," Mordred said.
He put his arms around her and held her close.
"And you'd have to do a hell of a lot more then get kissed by Bobby to make me stop."
Gwen
"I love you too."
Gwen kissed his neck.
"I don't know what's gotten into me."
Mordred
"Don't worry about it."
Mordred kissed her forehead lightly, hands rubbing soothing circles on her back.
Gwen
"Maybe we should..."
Gwen closed her eyes.
"Maybe we should go away for a bit."
Mordred
"Go where?" Mordred asked.
Gwen
"Middle Earth?"
Gwen sat up properly.
"I mean, that was the plan for a bit, wasn't it?"
Mordred
"Yeah."
Mordred nodded.
"We still don't know how. Maybe...maybe if we asked Priss, she'd do it."
Gwen
"Yeah, then we'll come back here and I'll be full term."
Gwen kissed his cheek.
"I love you."
Mordred
"Love you too, cariad."
Mordred kissed her gently.
"I'd never leave you, you know."
Gwen
"I... I know."
Gwen kissed him back.
"I just... I was scared."
MOrdred
"This...doesn't solve anything," Mordred said, holding her hands.
He turned them palm up and stared at the bandanges.
"I hate it when you do this."
Gwen
Gwen looked down at her feet.
"I just didn't want to live without you," she said softly.
Mordred
"I know how you feel."
Mordred kissed the bandages lightly.
"But don't. Please."
Gwen
Gwen nodded.
"I'll try."
Mordred
Mordred sighed.
"Why don't we just go to sleep?"
Gwen
"Ok."
Gwen lay down slowly, facing away from him.
Mordred
Mordred curled in behind her, putting an arm around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.
"I love you."
Gwen
Gwen slowly entwined their fingers.
"I love you too."
She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Mordred
Note to self, castrate Bobby in the morning, Mordred thought.
He kissed Gwen affectioately then slowly fell asleep.
