Nathan & Lindsey.
Nathan stood easily, sipping at a cup of coffee he'd managed to save enough change to buy. He watched the man leave the office, eyes thoughtful. RK leaned against his leg, golden eyes just as thoughtful as the brown eyes of the mutant.
"That's him, isn't it?"
"It is indeed...the righteous shall have to walk a thorny path. He's limping it."
"He should be dead."
"He has things to do."
"That's why I'm here."
"I know that. What he's going to say though..."
Nathan cut across the street to catch up with the man.
"He's still an unbeliever."
"Surprising in a man who's seen such things."
"I didn't say what he didn't believe in. He doesn't believe he's been tapped for the Light...least this time around. He chose. He just doesn't understand the full meaning of that choice. Yet. This may take some time to convince him. At least he knows Seers already."
"This is going to be complicated."
"When isn't it?"
Nathan finally caught up to the man, and tapped him on the shoulder. The guy turned around, frown on his face.
"Lindsey McDonald?"
"Who wants to know?"
RK sashayed out from behind Nathan and sniffed Lindsey over carefully. Nathan smiled slightly, scars showing on his cheek prominently.
"My name's Nathan Harper. Also, Seraph. That's RK. You're needed."
"For what? By who?" Lindsey said suspiciously, before he turned and walked off.
"I don't have time for this."
"You'll never have time again, if you walk away now. It all comes down to choice, Lindsey. How's the hand?"
Lindsey turned around again, face pale and angry.
"What do you want? Who sent you?"
"Welcome to fighting on the side of right. Answer your question? And no, I have nothing to do with the souled vampire. Not so souled at the moment. But at least now he's being honest about what he is."
"How do you know about Angel? Why are you here?"
"This is a recruiting mission. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will see the fate of the world averted from one of destruction to something more liveable. Be seeing you, Lindsey."
Nathan turned and walked away, his work for the moment done. RK sauntered along behind him. Lindsey stared after them. He thought he had been over this, once he'd left LA. Obviously not. He was getting caught up in it all over again.
