Isaac and Zac
Zac opened up Isaac's door.
"Yoo hoo! Ike!" he said quietly. "You awake yet?"
A groan was his only reply. Zac slipped in and turned on the light.
"Argh, turn it off," Isaac complianed.
Zac complied.
"Okay, we'll sit in the dark then."
"Not so loud."
"Okay. I can do that. I think. Heh. How's your head this morning?"
"I feel like it's gonna drop off."
"Been there done that. You should be glad I didn't let you drink any more."
"What do you want, Zac?"
"I wanted to appologise. When you were sober enough for it to actualy register and have some lasting effect."
"Appologise?"
"Yeah. For not believing you about Faith," Zac rushed on. "I mean, I know you better than that, Ike. I do, really, I just... I don't know. I don't know what came over me..."
"It's okay Zac. But why the change of heart?"
"You don't remember? You told me about..." he gulped. "About the baby."
"I did? Oh man..."
"Don't worry Ike. We both know that if you hadn't been drunk last night, you wouldn't have told me."
"I can't believe you took advantage of your drunk brother like that. Actually, I can."
Zac laughed. Isaac groaned.
"Oh, sorry. Again. Oh, and that reminds me. I smell a rat. Not literally though. See, yesterday morning I saw you kiss Faith."
"I did not! Ow!"
"And you maintained last night that it was Madison you kissed. So, either one of us was seeing things or..."
"Or what? My head hurts too much to think."
"Or we were both the victim of an impersonator. See, now I've had some experience with these people."
Isaac groaned. And not because his head hurt.
"Ash likes to pull pranks on us by turning into us. Zada was evil and tricked Faith and me by turning into us too. And of course, telepaths can trick people into thinking they're someone they're not, so on, so forth. I'd say a telepath would be more likely that a shapeshifter in this instance. But of course, under the circumstances what telepath would do that? See, I've been thinking about this. Have had all night to. And do you know what occured to me? Chrissy is an illusionist. I'm kinda gussing from the fact that I sent her your song - and I appologise for that too - that you two are sorta broken up now."
Isaac was silent for a moment.
"So... what you're saying is that... That Chrissy purposely tried to sabotage any chance of a relationship I might have with Madison?"
"Some women can be really bitchy. I think it's a good thing you got out of that relationship Ike. Assuiming I'm right, of course."
"But... why would she make you think she was Faith?"
Zac shrugged.
"An added bonus?" he suggested. "I mean, if you hadn't gotten drunk last night, you would have been lucky if I had ever spoken to you again. Vindictive isn't she?"
"She... it might not have... she wouldn't do that... would she?"
"She's your ex. You tell me," Zac shrugged. "I'll let you sleep of the rest of that hangover now."
"Thanks."
Zac left, leaving Isaac feeling somewhat confused over what to make of what Zac had suggested.
