Tanya
Diana opened the door.
"Tanya!" she greeted. "It's good to see you. Any word on Taylor?"
"Afrid not, Diana," Tanya replied, stepping inside. "I'm here on another matter."
"Oh?"
Diana and Tanya walked into the lounge room and sat down.
"Due to... circumstances I have come to the conclusion that the best course of action for me right now is to move to the space station."
"Oh!"
"There are a couple of Experts who can handle most of the things I do. But of course, Taylor's treatments is one of the things I will have to continue to do. Taylor may have to come visit me in the future for them."
Diana nodded and sighed.
"I hope we find him soon."
"Same," Tanya agreed.
She paused before continuing.
"It has come to my attention that Avery might be a more powerful telepath than I first realised. If you have no objections, I would like for Avery to come with me so I can take over her training myself."
Diana gave a look of shocked surprise.
"More powerful than a Master? Is there such a thing?"
"A Grandmaster. There are only vague mentions of them in the past in the old files. Don't tell her, though. I would hate for her to over exert herself, and there is a chance I could be wrong. Still, there have been instances where she's done things I can't explain. I think it's important for her own development."
Diana nodded.
"I will have to talk it over with Walker. And of course, Avie should get to decide if she wants to go."
"Of course."
Avery
"Mom, have you seen Zac?"
Avery walked into the lounge room, tying her hair up.
"Oh, hi Tanya."
Tanya
"I believe Zac took Saku to the park," Diana replied.
Then she looked at Tanya and inclined her head as if to say 'go ahead'.
"Hi Avery," Tanya said with a smile. "I was wondering, how would you like to move to the space station with me and let me teach you one on one on how to use your powers?"
Avery
Avery paused and bit her lip.
"Um..."
She looked at Diana. Then at Tanya.
"That would be cool," she said slowly. "But... moving away from home..."
Tanya
"You don't have to make up your mind now," Tanya assured her. "And even if you do decide to come, you can come home at any time. I won't force you do to anything. But I, for a number of reasons, have to move there. Oh and that reminds me, whether or not you decide to move, I would like you to join me next time I do Taylor's treatment. I'd like to teach you how to do them."
Tanya didn't add 'In case anything happens to me'.
Avery
"Oh."
Avery heard her after thought and pushed it aside. It was something she didn't even want to think about.
"I'd like to learn more," Avery said, looking at her mother. "I guess the only thing holding me back is that I will miss everyone. But... if mom and dad let me, I'd really like to do this."
Walker
"Well I do think it's a great idea."
Walker had been standing in the doorway behind her for a moment - just enough to catch the last few sentences.
His eyes fell to his daughter.
"It's not often an opportunity like this arises. Thank you Tanya."
Tanya
Tanya smiled.
"It's my pleasure," she replied.
"I believe it's a consensus, Avie," Diana smiled. "If you want to go, by all means do."
Avery
Avery took a look at her parents and then turned to Tanya.
"Yes, I'll do it."
