24 September 2003 - How Could You?

Nessa and Michelle

Chrissy

Chrissy tearfully picked up the phone. With shaking hands she dialled in Isaac's number, feeling her anger return to her when he picked up.

"Ike, we need to talk."

Isaac

"Okay, sure, just a sec..." Isaac replied.

He stood up and left the kitchen, not wanting his side of the conversation to be overheard by his family.

"Shoot," he said, walking up the stairs to his bedroom.

Chrissy

"Is there anything you wanna tell me before I launch into this?" Chrissy asked, straining to keep her voice even.

"Anything about Madison?"

Isaac

Isaac was silent for a moment.

She knew.

Well, Isaac wasn't about to lead her on. That would just be cruel.

To both of them.

"Well..." he said nervously. "I sorta, kinda have a bit of a crush on her..."

Chrissy

"Yeah, so I was told."

Chrissy sighed.

"Why didn't you just tell me? I had to hear it from Zac, who, by the way, seems to think that song is about Faith."

Isaac

"What song?" Isaac asked. "Oh damn... I was just... I was just venting in that song, Chrissy... I... I didn't tell you that I've been... crushing on Madison because, well, I thought it would pass. And even if it didn't I wanted to see things through with you. Plus you and Madison are friends and..."

He sighed.

"It's all so complicated. And of course Zac thinks it's about Faith. He's gotten it into his head that she and I have been seeing each other behind his back."

Chrissy

Chrissy sighed.

"Look... I'm sorta glad it wasn't about Faith, because I don't think I'd like her angry at me."

She took a deep breath.

"You really should've told me. She didn't tell me either, it was just... do you know how hard it was for me to find out from Zac that you like my sister?"

Isaac

Isaac laid down on his bed.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, Chrissy. Please don't think that me crushing on Madison meant I liked you any less."

Chrissy

Chrissy sighed again.

"It's... it's alright. I wish I hadn't found out this way... or at all, I liked being ignorant, but I guess it's better it's out in the open. So thank Zac for me."

She took a deep breath.

"I guess... I guess we're just not... oh this is hard to say."

She swallowed and wiped a tear away.

"I guess we're over."

Isaac

"I... I guess so too," Isaac replied. "I'm really sorry, Chrissy. Really, I am."

Chrissy

"Hey, not your fault. I guess."

Chrissy sighed.

"I guess... I guess I should go now. So... uh... bye."

And with that, Chrissy hung up, and buried her head in her hands.

Isaac

Isaac was silent for a time, then hit the hang up button.

He was going to have to have a long talk with Zac.

A very long chat.
