20 September 2003 - Remembering the Voice

AiMsTeR and Michelle

Christian

Christian thought back to when he first met Blakesley on the street.

He couldn't really remember much of what the doctor had said to him now, not that he really had cared in the first place. But he did suddenly remember him saying something about Mouse's babies and... a yearning for a telepath mind? Or something like that.

Something that Tanya should probably know about anyway.

He waited until he heard her coming home, got up from the cough, and went to greet her.

"Hey," he smiled when he saw her, "how was your day?"

Tanya

"Brain strain," Tanya replied. "Absolutely. Damn abitious telepaths who can get it though their thick heads they're not ready for the stuff they attempt to do. Damn alien hunters who think they know everything. Argh!"

She sighed.

"In a word, bad," she managed to grin.

Christian

Christian chuckled a little, before leading her into the kitchen.

"Sit down and I'll make you a tea. There's something I... kinda need your help with."

He switched the kettle on and began to get the mugs ready.

Tanya

Tanya took a seat.

"Thanks," she said. "So, what do you need help with?"

Christian

Christian got both mugs ready, before going to sit at the table with her to wait for the kettle to boil.

"I need to... Well I need you to find something for me. Well, for you, in my head. Back when I first ran into Blakesley."

He hesitated and ground his teeth looking down at the table before moving his sunglasses onto his head again.

"He was talking about Jane's babies, and he told me what one of them were. And it didn't particularly sound too good. And I figure you need to know, so... if you can find what he said, go ahead."

Tanya

Tanya nodded slowly.

"Okay," she agreed. "I can do that."

She took a moment to gather herself, and then went into Christian's mind.

"And I would tell her to beware Jane's children." Blakesley slipped the palmpilot back into his pocket. "One of them will probably eat *her*. A stronger, faster telepathic, coercive and empathic demonically altered alien with bloodlust and a need to consume telepathic minds. The rest of what Jane's children are I'll leave the YIRAAAS to consider."

When she pulled out, she shook her head and relayed this information to Christian.

Christian

Christian raised his eyebrows.

"Well that's... interesting."

Then he frowned a little.

"Makes you wonder what the hell the other two are. Jane isn't gonna want to let those babies go, no matter how dangerous they get. Maybe..." he tapped his chin, "unless they threatened Taylor I guess."

Tanya

Tanya took a breath.

"And I wouldn't blame her," she replied, patting her stomach. "It's just one of those things we're going to have to handle when it comes."

Christian

"Well it wouldn't hurt to have some kind of preparation."

Christian looked up as the kettle boiled, then went to make his coffee and her tea.

"That is... if we knew how to prepare for something like this."

Tanya

"Mmm..." Tanya responded. "A creature that feeds off telepathic minds."

She shook her head.

Christian

Christian threw the spoons into the sink, then took the mugs over to the table. Setting her tea down in front of her, he took his coffee back to his chair.

"Either way... those babies will be born before yours."

He raised his eyebrows, taking a sip of his drink.

"But by then you'll be quite a few months along. You shouldn't have to go anywhere near them. When Taylor needs his treatments he can come to you."

Tanya

"Ahh, yes, that's another thing..." Tanya said. "I was thinking of teaching Avery how to do Taylor's treatments over the next few treatments. But that does bring up a new issue..."

She chewed her lip, considering.

"I... I have reason to believe that Avery may one day be even stronger than me. She's had a few accidents... and there have been..." she paused. "In some files I have... there is mention that sometimes there would be a telepath who was what you might call a Ga'Revali Grandmaster... It's insane, but I think that Avery might actually have that much potential. But don't quote me on that. Only time will tell, and I might be wrong about it."

Then her eyes widened.

"Damn it... I might not be around her children, but Avery will."

Christian

Christian pursed his lips.

"We have some months to work everything out," he frowned, "but if anything happens to the Hansons because of those... beings... then I will have absolutely no gripes in taking them from her if I have to."

He looked up at her for a moment.

"I know it's insane, but if they're going to be dangerous..." he shook his head.

Tanya

Tanya nodded.

"If they're going to be dangerous there may be no choice. I hope it doesn't come to that."

She sighed.

"That man has no idea what he's doing. Crossbreeding like that isn't something to be casually experimented with."

Christian

"He always sees that he's the one in control," Christian raised his eyebrows.

"Spook and I gave him quite a run for his money," he chuckled after having another drink, "but I bet he hasn't learnt a damn thing. I'm sorry for not killing him, but I plan to do alot more when I see him next time. And I know there will be a next time."

He fiddled with the handle of his mug.

"He's lost the use of his left arm for now. I broke it up something bad."

Tanya

Tanya shook her head.

"This has to end. We can't keep having our people abducted and experimented on, and things like this happen. You'd like these stupid human governments would have learned by now."

Christian

"We ah..."

Christian cleared his throat.

"They have a lot of files, not only on their computers, and there a heaps of people involved in this $#!+," he shook his head, "I think that even if we killed Blakesley someone else is gonna take over, and everything's just gonna start over again."

He tapped his fingers on the table.

"And if we destroy the labs, they're just gonna start some more. I think we have to think... plan a more thorough attack."

He leant forward slightly.

"We need to get into their sources somehow."

Tanya

"I agree," Tanya nodded. "Unfortunately, there seems to be only one way for an alien into that place. As an experiment."

Christian

Christian snorted.

"I could find the place I went to again easily, I'm just not sure if he'd still be there. They're probably still cleaning the blood off the walls if they are."

He scratched his nose and had another drink.

Tanya

Tanya sipped her own tea, sat back and considered.

"I can't believe I'm even considering this, but perhaps we should actually send an agent in. It would have to be someone who's chance of being tortured was minimal though. I would never send someone in on a suicide mission like that! And someone who is likely to get information out of them. An empath might be able to dissuade and persuade them, but then I suppose Mouse is an empath and either she doesn't know what she can do, or she tried and it didn't work. A telekinetic could avoid getting tortured, but only if they weren't blindfolded. And I have a sneaking suspicion they know about that particular weakness rather well by now, so they're not an option. Hmm..."

Christian

Christian raised an eyebrow.

"Well... I dunno about that. Our doctor friend had a leather hood over my face and I still managed to kick ass."

He had another drink.

"But you know... There is heaps of crap on their computers. I only got into surveillance tapes, and I was watching what the bastard did to Taylor and that blonde girl."

His fist clenched.

Tanya

Tanya shook her head.

"Damn xenophobic bastards," she muttered.

Christian

Christian finished his coffee, then went to wash his mug out.

"Just as long as you're not the one going in, that is all fine with me," he said.

Then he hesitated, and left the room.
