Spook

Christina walked slowly into the area of the bomb blast. She could *feel* it in the air, prickling at her skin. The patrols had been easily avoided and now she carried her shotgun carelessly over one shoulder as she moved among the rubble. She could smell dead bodies, but it didn't worry her.

She'd either come out of this alive and different, or she'd be dead. It was that easy. And she didn't want to live the way she was, so it hadn't been a hard decsion. She'd change or die.

Picking her way through the debris that had once been the farms surrounding Smallville, the town being too near the epicenter of the blast to have survived, Christina turned slightly as something sparkled at her. Something green. She'd always been a fan of green, so she made her way over to it. A strange looking green stone, twisted and bubbled from the titanic forces that had affected it. She picked it up carefully, almost expecting to find it burning hot still but it was cool to touch. Cool in temperature anyway. It was probably so 'hot' it would send a Geiger counter screaming. But so would she after more then an hour in a zone this close to where the bomb hit.

She stared at it, fingers tracing the strangely smooth almost soapy stone. It was...mesmerising. She fell into the green depths of the nuclearly changed Kryptonite, breath slowing and heartbeat dropping as the shadows grew long around her. Something began then. A shifting, an opening, a change...

Christina could feel the stone's influence reaching through her and she swayed slightly as her vision went green all through and all she could see was the stone in her hands. Cupped like it was something precious. And it was becoming more so...she could feel it changing her. Something new had been added...or something old had finally been let free.

Blinking, she raised her head as she felt that whatever was going on was over. She dropped the stone, shifted her shotgun back onto her shoulder and calmly headed out of the ruins. She was met by a YIRAAAS patrol on her way out, once she was free of the red zone.

"Hello, agents. Do we have an agent Smith aboard? Because I don't think I'm up to doing a Neo." Christina laughed eerily, shades hiding her eyes from their view.

"I can't. She doesn't have anything I can control!" Christina heard a horrified woman say.

"I can't use my telekinesis!" A man's voice echoed her, and Christina frowned as she looked at the vehicle that was hovering behind them.

"Stop," she told the control that the telekinetic had over it, and it slowly keeled over with a scraping tortured sound. "Let's see if Tanya's little block held, shall we?" She pointed her shotgun at the weeping telepath and calmly killed her. "Well, seeing as how I'm still alive, I'd say no." While the shocked agents tried to come to grips with the fact that their powers weren't working, Christina killed them all. She riffled their pockets calmly, and then carved the sign of the omega into each of their faces.

Swaggering slightly, Christina left the crumpled bodies behind. Better watch out, Tanya. Spook's back, and she's got a fine and dandy peachy keen power of her own.
