16 September 2003 - Acting on your gut feeling

Tegan and Nessa

Mordred

Mordred was worried. Very worried. He kept having these really weird pains...which he was now convinced were coming from Gwen. They were probably only pale reflections of whatever she was going through. Angel Investigations had been none too helpful or concerned either. Mordred sighed, and hoped he wasn't going to go running in and find out she didn't need rescuing after all.

He teleported.

"Gwen?" She was strapped to a guerny. "GWEN!" He ran to her side and started working at the straps.

Gwen

Gwen felt light headed, there were colours all around her, such pretty colours, but she wasn't able to touch them. Her body ached all over, and her vision was blurry. She could hear a faint noise through the buzzings in her ear, but she ignored them, thinking they were the doctors again, ready to do more work on her.

She needed her powers, needed to find a way to deactivate the switch on her arm, but it was too easy to just watch the colours. The colours didn't hurt, but everything else did.

Mordred

"Damn it, bloody hell, just come undone, you sodding thing!" Mordred cursed at the wrist strap he was unbuckling. He barely looked up as people came into the room, then exploded into action.

A pissed off telepath and teleporter who's been trained by four of the best hand to hand fighters on the planet, and indeed in most dimensions, is not someone you want angry at you. Especially not if you're confined to fighting in a small space.

Bloody moaning bodies soon littered the room, and Mordred returned to his task. "C'mon, love, please wake up..." He unstrapped her wrists and moved onto her ankles.

Gwen

Gwen was only half aware of the actions in the room. She was sinking further and further into her mind, building walls around herself and blocking her emotions and thoughts off the the doctors.

The truth was, she was lost in there

"Dun wannnnnnaaaaa..." she slurred.

She tried to lift her head, then gave up and let her head thud back onto the gurney, barely feeling the shot of pain that occurred as a result.

"I likeeee the cooolooourrrrrrrrs!"

MOrdred

"Riiiiiight, pet..." Mordred raised his eyebrows slightly. Then the last ankle restraint was undone and he was lifting her carefully into his arms. "Upsey daisey, love. Easy now..."

Gwen

Gwen felt herself being lifted from the gurney, and her head fell limply back as she looked at the place she'd been chained to for... oh who even knew anymore? Time had flown by so slowly sometimes and so quickly at others.

"I'm flyinnnnnnng! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Oh nooooooo!"

Gwen's eyes filled with tears, and they stung.

"Owwwwwwwww!"

Mordred

Mordred was torn. He wanted to take her back home to the mansion...but that might not be the best place. He took a gamble and teleported to the Halliwell's house in Tulsa. Staggering slightly at the strength the two 'ports had taken out of him. He managed to get to the door and collapse against it, Gwen cradled in his arms. "Right...now to get their attention..." Mordred closed his eyes for a moment, then reached out and banged on the door with his hand, accompanying it with a telepathic shout. Door! Gwen's hurt!

Piper, Paige and Gwen

Piper opened the door and took in the scene.

"Come in, come in!"

She stepped back and pointed to the living room.

"Take her in there."

She closed the door behind him and yelled up to Paige.

"PAIGE!"

Paige came running down the stairs. "Yo, no need to... ohh." She stopped when she saw Mordred and Gwen in the living room and she went in there.

Gwen was singing quietly to herself, unaware that she was anywhere new. "All night, all day,
The Angels are watching over me, my Lord.
All night, all day,
The Angels are watching over me.

Sun is a-setting in the West;
The Angels are watching over me, my Lord.
Sleep my child, take your rest;
The Angels are watching over me.

All night, all day,
The Angels are watching over me, my Lord.
All night, all day,
The Angels are watching over me."

Mordred

"You can help her, right?" Mordred said in a thicker then usual accent in his distress. "I brought her here cos I thought that maybe...maybe it might not be something Dr McCoy could deal with. Cos she doesn't always work on what we would call the exactly normal reality of the world." He caressed her face for a moment. "Please be alright, love..."

Paige, Piper and Gwen

Paige furrowed her eyebrows.

"I can try... I can heal these," she said, indicating the cuts and bruises. "But..."

"She can't heal emotional trauma," Piper explained.

Paige held her hands over Gwen and healed the visible cuts and bruises.

Gwen blinked, her vision coming back. "Where did the colours go?" she asked timidly.

Mordred

"What colours?" Mordred asked in confusion. "What happened love? Why where you there?"

Gwen

"There were colours! And they were swirly and they were protecting me from them, the bad men! And now they're gone!" Gwen cried.

She hiccuped.

"He... he set me up! And I thought... and then he had a gun, and he hurt me," she said sadly.

MOrdred

"Let me see, cariad, let me in and let me see..." Mordred murmured to her, hands hovering over her face as he leant in. "Let me see their faces."

Gwen and Paige

Gwen shook her head violently, trying to keep Mordred from getting inside her head.

"Nononononono, don't go in there!" she cried. "They'll hurt you!"

Paige lay a hand on Mordred's shoulder.

"Do you need me to orb you anywhere? You look exhausted."

Mordred

Mordred ignored Paige for the moment. "I'm a wolf, pet...you do remember that? And you're *my* Pack. *No one*, and I mean *no one* hurts my Pack and gets away with it. I'm just gonna hurt them. A lot. Let me in, cariad, my darling Gwen...let me see their faces."

Gwen

Gwen let the walls fall from her mind and she squirmed as the memories came flooding back to her.

"They hurt me! And I tried to get them to stop, but I couldn't! I couldn't and they wouldn't listen and they hurt me!"

Gwen was screaming and crying while writhing on the couch.

Mordred

"Shh, now, shhhhh," Mordred soothed as he held her still in his arms so she didn't hurt herself. "And now I'm gonna make them pay for it, love. They're gonna pay for it a lot. Nyx was a good teacher..."

Gwen

"He took my powers so I couldn't hurt him," Gwen said sulkily, calmer than she'd been before.

"He cut me, he made me hurt, and he didn't care," Gwen whispered, grabbing for Mordred's hand and squeezing it tightly.

Mordred

"How did he take your powers, love?" Mordred asked her quietly, hiding his sudden overwhelming rage from her in case it upset her. "Can we fix it now? Is it from something like LISA?"

Gwen

Gwen weakly raised an arm, to show him the silver mechanism attached to her arm.

"It's gone, it's all gone," she whispered.

Mordred

"Let's get that off, and I bet it all comes back," Mordred said soothingly as he took her arm in his hands. Please don't let her fry me, he prayed. It hurt a lot last time. With that plea to the Almighty out of the way, Mordred pressed the release mechanism he'd found, and it came off into his hands.

Gwen

Gwen jolted as she felt the electricity spread around her body again. She cracked her knuckles as she felt her power run through her veins. She weakly held control over it, knowing she would shock Mordred if she didn't control it while she was distracted.

After a second, her powers were back, and she was able to control them again.

Mordred

"See, you didn't shock me after all...I admit to being just a tad worried about that...do you want to stay here, or go back to the mansion? There's no way I'm taking you back to your house to leave you by yourself," Mordred told her firmly.

Gwen

"Can I go with you?" Gwen asked timidly, her eyes filling with tears again.

"It's all dark again," she whispered as she closed her eyes and buried herself back in her mind.

Mordred

"You can always come with me," Mordred told her gently, shutting his suspicions to the back of his mind. Not now. "Anytime you need me, I'll be there for you. You always have a place with me and in my heart, my angel."

Gwen and Paige

Gwen hummed absently to herself, all that mattered now was not remembering. She didn't want to remember anymore.

Paige cleared her throat.

"Uh, my offer still stands."

MOrdred

"That would be good. Thank you," Mordred said absently as he held Gwen. "I have a lot of work to do...a bit of a boost would be a good thing."

Gwen

Paige touched his shoulder and orbed them to the mansion.

"Call if she needs help again."

She orbed out.

Gwen squirmed in Mordred's arms.

Mordred and Faolan

Mordred laid her carefully on his bed and took her shoes off, before tucking her in under the covers. Faolan leapt onto the bed with a thump then crawled up the bed to be near Gwen's face.

"Mrroowwrrr?"

"Look after her for me." He bent and pressed a kiss to Gwen's forehead. "Be back in a few, love, alright?"

Gwen

Gwen turned her head into the pillow and curled herself up into a ball, trying desperately to block out the sounds she thought she could still hear.

"This may sting... but I believe that's the point."

Gwen shivered.

Needles, needles everywhere, scapels, men in gloves, in masks, cutting her open, laughing, not caring, hurting her.

Mordred

"I love you." Mordred said sadly. He had hoped...that she wouldn't go down Vortigern's path but it seemed that was not to be. "I'll kill them for you, love. Kill them all."

Gwen

Gwen buried herself beneath the covers, muttering to herself.

"I love you, love you, love you."

Under the safety of the covers, she relaxed slightly, and let her tears fall again.

"Stop hurting me," she whispered to the faces in her head.

Mordred

Mordred let his hand touch her through the sheets for a moment, then he looked at his son. "Guard her." Faolan nodded and curled up on a space on the bed. Mordred 'ported to the weapons room, and started to arm up.

Spike burst into the room just in time to see him disappear. "Bloody hell!"

Mordred appeared next to the one he knew was Mark. He looked him over, sword held easily over his back. "You hurt milady. Prepare to die." Mordred grinned slightly as the man gaped, then swung the sword. He was gone again before the security could reach him, leaving a corpse behind.

He found every one of them, who had hurt his Gwen. And they all died. Covered in blood, he 'ported back to his room and slowly let the sword fall from nerveless fingers. "Never hurt you again, love, I swear it."

Gwen

Gwen uncurled herself slightly, and pulled the sheet from over her eyes, so she could see him.

"There's blood... are you hurt?" she asked timidly.

She raised an arm from under the blanket to touch him.

"Sooo tired," she moaned.

Mordred

"I'm not hurt," Mordred said quietly as he fell to his knees next to her. He kissed her hand, blood transferring from his hand to hers and blood droplets spattering his face. "It's their blood, not mine. Told you I'd kill them. Sleep, love. And I'll look after you while you sleep."

Gwen

"Can't sleep. Bad things happen when I sleep," Gwen murmured, but her eyes closed and she eventually drifted off into a restless sleep.

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred watched her for a bit longer, then went to shower the blood off him. When he was done and mostly dry, he slipped into bed beside her and held her close. He closed his eyes for a moment, then fell asleep himself.

Vortigern came in later and retrieved all the weapons Mordred had taken on his quest of vengeance.
