Tegan

Sergei, Mouse and Natalia

Sergei threw the bottle at the wall, and it hit and shattered, vodka dripping down the wall and filling the room with the stinging smell of alcohol. He stared at his hands and flexed them slightly. It hurt. He'd been drinking almost steadily since he'd found out that his family was dead, and hadn't barely said two words to anyone after that violent outpouring of grief. His eyes fell on his phone, and he shrugged before picking it up and dialling the number Natalia had left in his e-mail box. He waited for whoever had the mobile to pcik up.

Mouse's phone started ringing as they were on the tour bus, Good Charlotte's Little Things ringing out tinnily. She grabbed it and opened it, frowning slightly. "Hello?"

"Hello, this is Sergei. Natalia left me this number to contact her?" Sergei said carefully, his voice showing no sign of his inebrieation after years of practice.

"Uh, sure." Mouse shrugged, before looking at Natalia. "Phonecall, Nat. Catch." She threw the phone to the blonde and Natalia caught it.

"Hello?"

"Hello, kratkoya..."

"Sergei!" Natalia turned away slightly from everyone on the bus as she beamed. She shoved Blakesley to the back of her mind resolutely. "How are you, Russki?"

"Drrrunk. I looked up my family..."

"What's wrong?"

"They're dead. They're all dead," And Sergei started to cry, great chest tearing sobs full of pain.

"Ohhhh, Sergei..." Sympathetic tears rose to Natalia's eyes.

"They werrre hit by a drrrunk drrriver over a year ago. God hates me. I know God f*cking hates me." Sergei looked for something else to throw. He picked up another bottle, and Natalia winced as she heard something break. Sounded like glass. "Why the hell do things like this happen to us, Natalia? Why the F*CK do they happen?!"

"Don't know, hey, you alright?"

"I'm dead inside. I, Natalia, they're *dead*! And I can't even visit theirrr F*CKING GRAVES!" Sergei cradled his head in his hands, listening to Natalia's murmurs of sympathy.

"Nat, what's going on there?" Mouse asked.

"It's Sergei. He...his family's dead. Kinda venting. We understand each other." Natalia looked back at Mouse for a moment, then returned to comforting the weeping Sergei. After about half an hour, Sergei started to wind down. "Sergei...Blakesley showing up again."

"WHAT THE HELL?!"

"Yeah. Um. You might wanna watch out." Natalia traced the edge of her collar.

"Oh, it was never me he was interested in. He could never get close enough to touch me...but I'll tell the professor." Sergei sighed. "Don't we ever catch a break, kratkoya?"

"Oh no, not us, Russki. We never do." Natalia wiped her eyes. They chatted for a bit longer, both calming down, then Natalia threw the phone back to Mouse. "Thanks."

"S'ok." Mouse put it back in her bag and looked at Natalia thoughtfully as the girl returned to staring out the window.
