10 September 2003 - Old enemies meet

Tegan

Logan, Sabretooth, Victory and Kanika

Sabretooth threatened and cursed his way out of Glory's hideout. Dammit, he wasn't some tame dog on her leash! Victory clung to his furs, green eyes wide and solemn, then she'd pulled some dark magic that saw them walking out of there. The demons Victory had befuddled stared after them, gaping. Victory licked her paw and purred as Sabretooth rubbed her ears in approval.

"Good work, kid."

He bought some rail tickets, Victory by his side, her small hand in his overlarge paw, and they got on. He sat with her in his lap an leant his head back against the glass, eyes closed. He inhaled slightly to scent the air as the train drove on smoothly, barely a bump occuring. Victory stared around with her great big green eyes, so out of place with her blond hair. Soon, they were in Tokyo and they descended into the whirling mass of the city. Humanity, everywhere, scuttling like ants and talking, talking, talking. A babble of voices filled the air as sirens wailed and motors grumbled. Victory watched it all with wide eyes, and Sabretooth ignored it. He was here to buy things for her, and all he needed was a shopping center.

Sabretooth bought her some more clothes, and some toys to play with. He bought a few things for himself as well, down on the darker side of the city. Weapons, and the like... Victory watched and stored all the infomation she gained away in her mind. Eventually, they made their way back into the more populated and well lit areas. Victory hung onto Sabretooth's hand as they entered a park, then her eyes widened.

"Kanika!"

"Viccy!"

The two sisters rushed to each other and hugged, giggling in delight. Dark and fair, green eyed and blue touching, scenting, making sure the other was fine. "Wait until you meet my daddy!" They exclaimed in unison, then giggled harder, turning and running back to their respective fathers. Who were looking at each other with undisguised loathing.

"Sabretooth."

"Wolverine."

"So..."

"Do we fight now?" Logan asked as Kanika hugged his legs. She scowled at him.

"No!" Both little girls said loudly.

"Guess that means we don't," Sabretooth said with a shrug.

"Guess it means we don't. This is Kanika."

"Victory." The sisters had run back to each other, and were soon involved in a game of tag. Sabretooth and Logan sat gingerly on a bench and watched them play. "Do we talk about it?"

"Nah."

The two of them lapsed back into silence.

"What are you doing in Japan?" Logan inquired.

"Could ask the same of you."

"Just going walkabouts. I keep thinking I remember things here..."

"I'm on a job. Nutcase for an employer."

"Yeah, that's gotta suck."

"Pays well though. I've hardly had to do a thing. Which is good, cos I don't like leaving Victory to wander alone in that place." Sabretooth scowled and bared his fangs.

"Heard from Nyx?"

"Nup. You?"

"Nup."

After a while, they split up and took their daughters home. Both left with food for thought.
