7 September 2003 - Relationship problems

Tegan and Joy

Demetria

Demetria tapped her nails nervously on the table as she waited for Orlando to join her. She couldn't do this anymore. She couldn't keep leading him on. But she felt so bad about doing this...

He did love her. But she didn't love him. And you can't exactly have a meaningful relationship with a merman if you go into screaming hysterics everytime you're faced with having to put your head under the water.

She shuddered slightly.

Demetria's face was forced under water, stilling her screams with a horrible gurgle.

"How long do you think it can go without air?"

"I'd give it two minutes." She tried to move her mouth out of the water.

Demetria tapped her fingernails again. And it had just gotten worse from there. She hd to end this now.

Demetria coughed weakly, and managed to get her eyes clear of water. She blinked. They were on the other side of the bed...and there was a scalpel by her hand. She grabbed it and went for them like an avenging angel.

She'd killed two men. It wasn't the type of thing you got over easily, and she couldn't keep doing this to Orlando. She couldn't keep drifting away, but leaving him hanging. She'd end this.

Orlando

Orlando sat down at the table and tapped his glass of water, salting it. He'd been accepted into Julliard. He knew that he wanted to break it off with Dem for a while before going, but he didn't know how. Also, he had been sensing some tension between them. Ever since she was abducted, she'd become terrified of water. And it was hard for them to be together, with him needing to to survive.

"Hey, Dem, how's it going?" he asked.

Demetria

"Hey, Orli..." Demetria smiled at him, blue eyes somehow shuttered. "Alright, I guess." She tapped her nails again. "We need to talk."

Orlando

He nodded. "We really do. You go first," Orlando said.

Demetria

"Ok..." Demetria sighed. "We can't keep doing this. We're not working. I can't...I can't..." She studied her hands. "I'm scared of water. As long as I can't...this isn't gonna work."

Orlando

He took her hand. "I know, I understand. That's what I wanted to say. I don't think this going to work out either. You see, I've been exceoted to Juliard. I'm, started next week. Flute and voice. feelie might join me there next semester. And, As much as you are in my heart, I'd like to go there, unattatched. It's a new beginning for me. You need a new beginning as well, Demetria. You need to heal." He kissed the back of her heand, and sat back in his seat.

Demetria

"Yeah." Demetria nodded. "Well, that's it then I guess. I'm sorry it didn't work out. Hope you go well at Juliard's."

Orlando

"I would like us to keep in touch," he said, kissin g her cheek before heading oer to join his sisters.

Demetria

Demetria nodded slightly, then got up and left the room. She went and laid down on her bed and thought some about what had happened. Somehow, she felt that he should've shown something more.
