Julie and Rogue
Julie was out in the sun, reading a book while B'Elanna and Tom slept.
A shadow fell on her book and she looked up to see Rogue.
"I understand that you've been keeping something from us," Rogue stated.
"I have?"
"Yes. It's your eighteenth birthday!"
A grin crossed Julie's face.
"Yeah, it is. How did you know?"
"Zac called, wanting to wish you many happy returns, but we couldn't find you so he could, and he had to go," Rogue replied. "So I said I'd pass the message on. So, happy birthday Julie! From Zac and from me."
"Thank you."
Bobby
"Roge, Rogue, Rogue, tell me you did the history homework and you're willing to let me see it!" Bobby pleaded as he ran outside.
"Hey Julie, happy birthday!"
Rogue and Julie
"I did the history homework and I'm willing to let you see it," Rogue obeyed with a cheeky grin.
Julie giggled.
"Thank you," she smiled at Bobby.
Bobby was really cute - no, no, she had children to think of now. Can afford that kind of distraction just yet. Besides, guys tended to shy away from single mothers as girlfriends.
Bobby
Bobby grinned. "Thank you, you just saved me from a fate worse than death... detention."
"So, what are you plans, birthday girl? Tell me you're not going to sit here and read all day. Tell me you're gonna come partying. And you, Rogue, tell me you're gonna come with us."
Rogue and Julie
Julie giggled.
"You're welcome," Rogue grinned.
"I was quite content to spend the day reading," Julie replied.
"Well, judging from the look in Bobby's eye, he's not going to let you," Rogue replied. "Go partying."
"What about the twins?"
"I'll stay here and look after them."
Bobby
"Ah, my excellent powers of mind control are still active over Rogue," Bobby said.
He grinned cheekily.
"She still loves me... she just buries it deep down under a mask of friendship. Can't say I blame her, really, can't say I blame her," he joked, extending his hand to help Julie up.
"Now come on, Julie, we're gonna party."
Rogue and Julie
"Mind control my foot," Rogue replied. "Go on Julie. You deserve a day off."
"You sure?" Julie asked tentatively.
"Sure, Ah'm sure. Go have fun. You only turn eighteen once. Unless you're me. In which case you have the memories of a few different eighteenth birthday parties. And a few twenty-firsts as well. Funky stuff, but Ah promise you there are some activities Ah will never do when it comes time for me to celebrate those ages," she grinned.
Julie giggled.
"Okay. But remember that -"
"You need give me no instructions on looking after the twins for a few hours. Ah've helped you before."
Julie smiled.
"You're a legend, you know that don't ya?"
"Yep."
Bobby
"Yay! We're all winners! Julie gets to spend the day with me, which is fantastic in itself, but then to top it off, Rogue is a legend, I get to spend a day with Julie and avoid detention. Life is sweet!"
Bobby chuckled.
"So... come on, Miss Williams, let's find somewhere to go."
Julie and Rogue
Julie giggled.
"Have fun you two," Rogue grinned.
"Thanks again, Rogue," Julie replied.
"No problem."
Julie stood up and followed Bobby.
"I'll just put my book into my room, okay?" she said.
Bobby
"Cool, I'm just gonna duck into my room and get a jacket. I'll meet you at the entrance."
Bobby waved and headed for his room, opening the door and grabbing a jacket that was hanging on the back of the chair.
He shrugged it on and then went to the entrance of the school to wait for Julie.
He felt sorta weird going out with her alone, after all he didn't know her that well. But he did like her.
Julie
Julie put her book away and grabbed a jacket of her own. Then she trotted out to the entrance. This was a little weird... Just her and a guy going out. Closest thing she had had to a date since she found out she was pregnant.
"Hi," she said, spotting him.
Bobby
"Hey," Bobby replied, taking her arm and leading her from the school.
"Ok, we have a few options here. We can go to a movie and grab a bite to eat, or we can just grab a bite to eat, or just see a movie. Or we can just cruise around, looking for something to do. I think Gwen left one of her cars here, and she left the keys with me, so we can go in style."
He started to lead her to where Gwen's car was parked, flipping out the keys.
Julie
"Well, I think food and a movie sound good," Julie smiled. "You sure Gwen won't mind us using her car?"
Bobby
Bobby grinned as he unlocked the car.
"Well she shouldn't have left me the keys. I don't think she'll mind, and if she does, there's not much she can do to stop us."
He hopped in and waited for Julie, while starting the car.
Julie
Julie got into the car.
"Fair enough," she replied, pulling the door closed. "Just so long we don't get up to any monkey business in the back, it should be all good right?"
Bobby
"Well... just as long as she doesn't find out," Bobby replied with a cheeky grin on his face.
He drove them into the city, and found a parking lot and parked the car. He got out and waited for Julie, then locked the car once she was out.
"So, movie?"
Julie
"There are ways of making sure no one ever learns," Julie grinned.
She stretched her arms above her head.
"Movie, yes. Which one though? I forget what's on. I also don't know my way around, so you're going to have to show me."
Bobby
"Well, I could leave you here stranded, but that's not much of a party."
Bobby took her arm again and led her to the cinema.
"Humm, anything you want to see?" he asked, looking up at the titles.
Julie
Julie giggled.
"Nope," she agreed. "Lemme see... oooh! Pirates of the Carribean!"
Her eyed glittered.
"Pirate movies rock. And besides, Orlando Bloom is in it," she grinned.
Bobby
Bobby rolled his eyes good naturedly.
"Yeah... and hey, Keira Knightley!"
He walked over to the ticket box and bought two tickets and came back over to Julie.
"So, you want any food?" he asked, gesturing to the candy bar.
Julie
"Mmm, yes please," Julie replied.
She pointed out a few things she would like and then gave him a note.
"I'm gonna pay my share," she said. "Birthday or not."
Bobby
Bobby gave an exaggerated sigh.
"Fine, if you want to be all... I can't think of a word."
He bought the food and handed her what she wanted, then led her through into the cinema.
"Where to sit?"
Julie
"Up the back. But not too far back," Julie replied.
She lead him up the stairs, turned to face the screen, considered, walked up a few more rows and then picked a coupl fo seats.
"Perfect. Right in the middle of the screen."
Bobby
Bobby grinned and settled himself down in the seat.
While they watched the movie, Bobby found himself sneaking tiny glances at Julie, realising that he liked her a little more than he was admitting.
As the movie finished, he came out laughing with Julie.
"But the rum!"
Julie
Julie giggled madly.
"But the rum!" she repeated. "I practice three hours a day so I can kill pirates like you."
Bobby
Bobby struggled through his laughter to speak.
"You're not a eunuch are you?"
He laughed harder.
"Aunt's nephew's cousin twice removed on my mother's side. Lovely singing voice. Eunuch."
He wiped his eyes.
"So, wanna get a bite to eat?"
Julie
"Sure," Julie replied though her giggles. "They're more like guidelines."
She grinned.
"They have so left it open for a sequel. Probably call it "Pirates of the Carribean: Revenge of the evil monkey"."
Bobby
"That monkey was freaky," Bobby agreed.
"Commandeer! We're going to commandeer that ship. Nautical term."
Bobby chuckled as they headed out onto the street.
"Wanna just walk along till we find somewhere that looks good?"
Julie
Julie giggled.
"Yeah, that sounds good to me," she said. "Evil, evil monkey. I could so see that again."
Bobby
Bobby chuckled again.
"Same, same."
They walked further down the street.
"See anything you like?"
Julie
"Mmm..." Julie considered. "That looks good to me."
She pointed to a pizza place.
"I love pizza."
Bobby
"Who doesn't love pizza?" Bobby remarked as they headed over to the pizza place.
They ordered their pizzas and went and sat down at a table to eat them.
"So how do you like staying at Xavier's so far?"
Julie
"I like it," Julie replied. "Everyone's been really great."
She took a bite of her pizza.
Bobby
"Well that's good then. And yeah, everyone's really supportive there, it's not too shabby."
Bobby took a bite of his pizza and chewed thoughtfully.
"So, it's just dawned on me that I don't know much about you. Where did you live before you came here?"
Julie
Julie smiled.
"Well, I grew up in Tulsa. But we moved to Roswell after Dad found out I was pregnant. He got this job transfer - he was planning to refused but uhh..." Julie shook her head. "Poor Zac. I think Dad's still after his blood. What about you?"
Bobby
"Boston, originally. Then I found out I was a mutant, and my parents thought they were sending me to a boarding school, but yeah, I came to Xavier's. They know I'm a mutant now though. Which is... still a delicate topic with them."
Bobby took another bite of his pizza, chewed and swallowed.
"But I definitely think coming to Xavier's was the best move I made."
Julie
"Ouch, that much suck," Julie replied. "Mom's accepted the twins and all, but like I said... Dad's still against Zac. And I think he's still angry with me for being so careless as he puts it."
Julie sighed.
"I'm with you though. Coming here, best decision I've made in a long time."
Bobby
"Ah well, parents, what can you do? At least you're happy here, and I'm sure your dad will get over it in time."
Bobby took a sip of his drink.
"And yes, you made the right choice coming to live with us."
He smiled at Julie, deciding that he definitely liked her. Then burst into laughter.
"But the rum!"
Julie
Julie laughed and the soft drink she was drinking came out her nose.
"Oh dear," she chuckled, reaching for a napkin.
She started to clean up her little mess, the grin not fading.
"That movie was so good."
Bobby
Bobby laughed.
"Not as good as making you laugh so drink came out your nose."
They finished their meal and Bobby took Julie's hand shyly as they walked out of the pizza place.
"So, what do you feel like doing now?"
Julie
Julie shivered. A guy was holding her hand. She was a teenage mother with twins and a guy was actually holding her hand!
So, why did it make her nervous?
"Mmm, I don't know," she replied. "What do you wanna do?"
Bobby
"Hmm, walk around, see what we can come up with?" Bobby suggested.
He looked over at her, then quickly looked away, and pointed with his free hand to a carnival in the park.
"What do you say?" he asked, a playful glint in his eye.
Julie
"Oooh, fun!" Julie said, her eyes glittering.
She started walking towards it, then paused.
"But maybe we should be getting back... the twins..."
Bobby
Bobby gave a big pout.
"But Julieeeeeeee, it's a ferris wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeel!"
He grinned at her.
"Come on, Rogue loves to baby sit. She does, she's telling me right now with the power of mind control. Mmmhmm."
Julie
Julie giggled. He was such a cutie.
"Okay, okay," she replied, grinning.
She started walking with him to the carnival
"To the Ferris Wheel, Bobby," she said in a mock Batman voice.
Bobby
"Yay, I win! And all by using the powers of persuasion... with my mind control," Bobby replied, chuckling.
He took Julie's hand again and led her over to the Ferris Wheel and bought tickets for them. The vendor smiled as he lifted the bar and gestured for them to sit on the seat.
"Ladies first," Bobby said, stepping back and giving a mock bow.
Julie
Julie smiled and walked in, then waited for Bobby to join her.
"I thought your power was ice," Julie commented slyly.
Bobby
Bobby paused.
"Damn."
He sat next to her on the seat.
"Maybe, maybe I've just been making you all believe I have the power of ice, when really, my power is mind control. Ha!"
He grinned triumphantly as the ride started.
Julie
Julie giggled.
"Or maybe you've just been trying to trick everyone into thinking you have mind control when you really have ice."
She grinned and looked around.
"Great view."
Bobby
"Maybe I've been tricking you into thinking I'm tricking you into thinking I have ice when I have mind control."
Bobby nodded matter of factly.
He snuck a glance at Julie.
"Yeah, it is a nice view."
Julie
"Or maybe," Julie replied, "just maybe, you're full of sh- ooh! Look! Cotton Candy! We sooooo have to get some after."
Bobby
"Get some, hey?" Bobby joked, raising his eyebrows suggestively.
The ride finished and Bobby took her hand and led her to the cotton candy stand and bought her a stick of it.
Julie
Julie pointed the stick of cotton candy at Bobby.
"You have a dirty mind," she said. "I like that, it reminds me of me."
She giggled and then put some cotton candy into her mouth.
Bobby
Bobby chuckled.
"Yeah, I was about to say, having a dirty mind isn't a bad thing."
He snagged a bit of her cotton candy and grinned innocently.
"So, roller coaster, yay or nay?"
Julie
"Mmm... I haven't been on a roller coaster in ages. But maybe some other time. I don't think it's wise after eating."
Julie looked around.
"Bumper cars on the other hand..."
Bobby
Bobby raised his eyebrow in challenge.
"Do you think you're ready to come up against me in a bumper car?"
He grinned.
Julie
Julie grinned back.
"You ain't got nothing on me, Bobby-boy. I've been up against the best. And let me tell you, there was more than just bumper cars involved."
She winked.
Bobby
"Oh, you seem to think you're up against some sort of amateur. Well, you're in for a rude awakening."
Bobby bought the tickets and grinned as they went into the ride and he selected a red car, and put the seatbelt on.
"Watch out, Julie."
Julie
Julie got into a purple car. Then they were off. And Julie kicked his butt.
"Yeah! I won!"
She grinned winningly at him.
Bobby
Bobby grinned back.
"I just let you win because you... because you look like you needed a win."
He nodded.
"Yeah, there is no way, you would ever have beaten me if I had given it my all."
Julie
"Oh yeah?" Julie raised an eyebrow. "Is that a challenge for a rematch?"
She took a step closer to him.
"Or is there something else you'd like to do?"
"Cut back on the flirting, girl," Julie advised herself.
Bobby
Bobby made a sort of 'come and get me' movement with his hands.
"I don't think you could stand having your butt whipped by me," he grinned, raising his eyebrow at the word 'whipped'.
"So, anything you wanna do? We could stay here some more, go back to school or drive around."
Julie
"You couldn't whip my butt if you tried," Julie replied. "Literally or otherwise."
She checked her watch.
"We should probably get back."
Bobby
"Yep, cool."
Bobby took her hand again and started back for the car.
"And I could whip your butt, but I won't because you'll cry."
Julie
"Me? Cry? If I do, they'll only be tears of happiness."
"Damn it Julie... you're not pregnant anymore. Hormones are no longer an excuse!"
Julie walked to the passanger seat and waited for Bobby to open the car.
Bobby
Bobby unlocked the car with a grin and hopped in. He started the car and once Julie was settled, he revved the engine slightly.
"I love this car."
And they were off. Bobby drove them carefully back to the school and parked the car in it's usual spot. He hopped out and went around and opened the door for Julie.
Julie
Julie stepped out.
"Thanks," she said. "And thanks for taking me out today. It was really sweet of you."
Bobby
Bobby locked the car and led her back up to the school.
"Well I'm a sweet guy," he joked.
"Plus it was your birthday and you deserved a day out."
Julie
Julie smiled.
"And on that note, I should go rescue Rogue from the twins. Thanks again."
And she started to leave.
Bobby
Bobby gave a small wave.
"No problem. See ya round," he said as he headed back to his room.
