Davyd
Davyd said goodbye to Mikey, smiling happily and kissing him deeply before going up to his apartment. He whistled slightly as he got his key out and unlocked the door. He had another job coming up, and he had a wonder caring boyfriend. What more could he want at the moment? Nothing. Not really. He went inside his apartment and walked over to the small fridge to get a drink.
"Davyd...I think you have some things to explain to me," an older man's voice said. Davyd whirled around, nearly dropping the open can of soda. His father stepped out of one of the darker corners of his apartment. Near a window. Davyd's eyes flicked to it, then back to his father's face. "Such as why you were...embracing a *man*." The word was loaded with disgust as Edward stepped up beside his father. Davyd backed up slightly, before the backs of his legs came in contact with the fridge.
"Father..."
"Silence! How would your mother feel if she knew that you were..." Davyd's father shook his head, lost for words. Davyd died inside a little more. "Why can't you be more like Edward? I let you come here because I thought perhaps you would meet a nice girl and settle down. Like Edward did. And then give up this foolish nonsense about being an actor and come and work for me in the lawfirm. You disgust me." He turned to Edward. "Get me my walking stick." Edward handed it to their father, the wood dark and shining with the lustre of age, the grip carved into the visage of a lion. He walked over, not using the walking stick at all. He struck Davyd across the face with it, and the younger man went down.
After a while, they left, Davyd a bleeding, broken mess on the floor.
"I have no son by your name," his father's last words echoed around the apartment as Davyd tried to breathe through what he was sure were broken ribs. Deo...he needed Deo. And oh god, how he wanted Mikey. Davyd crawled over to the phone, leaving blood in a dark trail behind him and pressing Amadeo's number on speeddial.
"Deo? It's me. Davvy. Oh god, please come..." Davyd dropped to the ground, unconscious.
"Davvy? Davyy?!" Amadeo's tinny voice came out of the phone. "Davvy? I'll be round right away. Alright?" Getting no answer and fearing something horrible had happened, Amadeo fairly flew off his building site. Starting to dial Mikey's number on the way. He was probably closer to Davyd's apartment then Amadeo was. "C'mon, Mikey, pick up, pick up..." He got into his pick up truck and slewed the wheel to get out of the parking lot.
In his apartment, Davyd moaned in pain.
Mikey
Mike was walking back Davyd's, totally content, when his cell phone rang.
"Hello?" he answered.
Amadeo
"Hey, Mikey? It's Deo. I just got a call from Davvy, and I think something is really wrong. Can you go by his apartment and check it out? I'm stuck in a traffic jam on the other side of the city, and I think you'll make it before I do." Amadeo drummed his fingers on the steering wheel in frustration, knowing deep in his gut that there was something terribly wrong. "He got a few words out, and then he wasn't talking anymore..."
Mikey
Mikey felt his stomach tighten as all the air left him. Davyd was in trouble. He turned around and ran as fast as he could. When he got to Davie's apartment, he banged on the door with all his might, but he couldn't open it.
"Davie?" he called out. Finally, out of frustration, he let loose a bolt of electricity that knocked down the door. He ran through the small apartment looking for his lover. He nearly died when he saw him. There was blood everywhere. He rushed to his boyfriend's side.
"Oh Davie, oh my god, please, just say something. Let me know you're all rigt!" Mikey pleaded as he wiped the blood off of Davyd's bruised and battered face.
Davyd
"Unnnghh." Davyd's voice flickered between one voice and the next, unable to keep a grip on his talent in his pain. "Mikey...hurts...Deo?" He asked almost plaintively.
Amadeo swore, then beeped his horn. Oh, c'mon! Finally, finally the traffic started to move.
Mikey
Mikey suddenly felt himself panicking. He whipped out his cellphone and called 911, giving them the address.
"Don't worry, Baby, the ambulance will be here soon. It's all going to be okay." He cradled Davie in his arms, kissing the other man on the forehead, his tears running down his face.
Amadeo and Davyd
Amadeo pulled up in front of Davyd's apartment building and bounded up the stairs. "Davvy!" He skidded into the apartment and knew exactly what had happened when he saw his cousin. "I swear, I'm gonna kill him!"
"Deo, no!"
"Davyd, he's your FATHER!"
"Exactly! No police, no revenge nothing, PLEASE!"
Mikey
MIkey heard the sirens outside.
"Okay, Baby, don't worry, the ambulance is here now," the paramedics came into the apartment with the mobile gurney. They lifted Davie up and strapped him in.
"Can I ride along?" Michael asked, refusing to let go of of Davyd's hand. The paramedic sighed.
"Okay, but just one. You'll have to follow along behind in, okay sir?" the femal medic said to Amadeo.
Amadeo and Davyd
"That's fine," Amadeo said. "See ya at the hospital, Davvy."
"Promise me, Deo..."
"I ain't making no promises I might not keep." Amadeo set his jaw stubbornly as Davyd was moved into the ambulance and Mikey got in as well. He went and got into his pick up truck before following the ambulance to the hospital.
Mikey
MIkey thought he would die. Hwe was covered with blood. Blood from somebody he loved.
"God, Baby, please don't die," he begged, quietly. "I don't know what I'd do without you," Michael wept.
Amadeo and Davyd
The ambulance person worked at getting Davyd stabilised and then they pulled into the hospital. Amadeo swung into the carpatk and parked the car with a jerk, locking it behind him as he ran for the ambulance entrance. He caught up with them as they entered the emergency area.
"So, what have we got? Medical insurance and Social Security numbers?" The nurse on duty said briskly. Amadeo looked at Mikey as they started to move Davyd to where he could be treated.
"I'll take care of this. You look after Davvy."
Mikey
They took him into Trauma 1, and Michael started pacing, when they told him to wait outside. He was wringing his hands, and he was so tense, he looked like he might explode.
Amadeo
Amadeo filled out all of Davyd's forms and waited for news as they tended his cousin. He went to stand with Mikey, offering slient support.
Soon, the doctor came out.
"How is he?" Amadeo asked.
"He's stable at the moment. He was beated quite severly...he's suffered several broken ribs, a broken wrist, his cheekbones were cracked, nose broken..." the doctor moved through the list of injuries Davyd had suffered. Amadeo's eyes smouldered as the list continued. "Extensive head trauma, blood loss...we want to keep him overnight for observation."
Mikey
"But will he be okay?!" Michael asked, practically screaming.
"Yes," the doctor said, putting his hand on mikey's shoulder. "He'll be fine."
"Can I see him, please?" Michael asked.
"Yes, you can both go in," the doctor smiled at Mikey and Amadeo. Mikey practically ran into Davyd's room.
Amadeo and Davyd
Davyd was lying in a hospital bed, looking very white around the bandages except for the places where bruising was already beginning to show. Basically every inch of exposed skin was beginning to purple and discolour.
Amadeo stared down at his cousin and felt a great swell of hatred fill his heart. Wasn't it enough that his father had made him doubt himself and everything he ever did? "Hey..."
"Hey..." Davyd said through split lips. "Mikey?"
Mikey
"Hey Baby," Mikey said, tears welling up in his eyes again. He leaned over and kissed Davyd on the forehead.
"Don't you ever scare me like that again, you hear me?" Michael demanded, practically growling. He had never been so afraid before in his entire life.
"God, I love you so much," he whispered, as he sat down next to the bed, holding Davie's hand in his own.
Davyd and Amadeo
"Didn't...plan on it...god, I'm so stupid..." Davyd closed his eyes willing the tears back. "I shoulda known..."
"Dammit, don't let me hear you talk like that, Davvy!" Amadeo growled. "I *swear* this time I'm going to the police. This time he went too far."
