3 September 2003 - Zac rings Julie

Michelle

Zac and Julie

Julie had been called to the phone. She picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Julie," Zac said.

"Oh, hey Zac. What's up?"

"Not mu- okay that's a lie."

Julie laughed.

"I caught Faith cheating on me yesterday."

"Oh no."

"With Ike."

"Ike?"

"Yeah."

"I never would have thought Ike would do something like that."

"Me neither. Damn it, Julie," Zac broke down, "I didn't think Faith would either! I love her, and I thought she loved me too."

"Zac, sweetie, I know about Nyx, her children and whatshername."

"That's different."

"Is it?"

"Argh. I thought you would understand!"

"Zac, for us it was all about sex. For us it was a game. It was different with you and Faith. Like you said, you loved her. You don't do that kind of thing to people you love."

"Fine, if you're going to -"

"I'm not going to tell you what you want to hear. I ain't gonna sugercoat it either. Deal."

Zac was silent.

"Zac? Okay fine, if you're going to be a cry-baby -"

"Sorry, Julie. I just... I just... yesterday was the worst day of my life. And I feel like an idiot because now I know how Faith must have felt when I told her about Dez. And she forgave me. And I... I..."

"You went ballistic and now you think you've screwed everything up?"

"Yeah."

"So, go talk to her."

"I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because... because I think... I think I've gone and torn it. I think it's over."

"You think?"

"I can't see any going back, not after this."

"I see. So, is your child as cute as Faolan?"

"Who's Faolan?"

"Mordred's son to Nyx."

"Ahh. Mine is Saku. Hey, how did you know -"

"It's called the grape vine, Zac."

"Hmph. Well, I never saw Faolan, but Saku is pretty cute. And speaking of offspring, how are B'Elanna and Tom?"

"Good. Tom gave me a scare the other day though."

"Oh?"

"I turned my back for two seconds and when I looked back, he wasn't there. I looked around for what felt like forever, and I swear I was on the verge of panic when I remembered that Stealth lets them blend in. I looked back in the cradle and I could just make him out. A little while later he went back to normal."

"Phew. That must have given you quite a scare."

"It did! I'm so glad I have help here. Oh, and you know how I was worried about not being able to hear them if they cried because of their power?"

"Yeah?"

"No worries at all. I believe the key words are 'only emit sounds when they want to be heard'. Well, when babies cry, they wanna be heard."

Zac chuckled, and the two continued chatting until they had to go.
