Isaac
Early evening, Isaac dialed Chrissy's number. He really needed to hear her voice, especially after what happened with Zac and Faith that day.
He tapped his fingers against his leg while he waited for someone to pick up.
Madison
Madison raced for the phone from her living room.
"Hello?"
Isaac
"Madison? Hi, it's Ike," Isaac said.
He had been hoping Madison wouldn't pick up. For some odd reason she was beginning to make him nervous, though he couldn't figure out why.
"Is Chrissy there?"
Madison
"Oh, hey Ike. Let me just check."
Madison put the phone down for a second and looked around the house quickly.
"Chris? You here?"
No answer.
Madison went back to the phone and picked it up. "Hey Ike? Sorry, she's not here, can I help you with anything?"
Isaac
"Oh umm..." he hesitated. "I just wanted to talk to her."
He paused and then went on. He really needed someone to talk to. He, who was used to peopel wanting to talk to him!
"I've had a bit of a bad day today... I... if you don't mind listening..."
Madison
"Hey, I work at a bar where people go to drown their sorrows, of course I'll listen to you," Madison said.
She settled down on her bed.
"So, what's up?"
Isaac
Isaac sighed with relief.
"Faith came over today. She wanted to tell Zac something, and ended up telling me instead."
He suddenley sensed some irony in that comment.
"Then Zac came in while I was giving her a hug and yeah... he kinda jumped at the wrong conclusion. Now he's not talking to me unless he has to, and even then he's barely civil."
Madison
"Ah... this will mean Faith will take more time off work, I'm guessing?" Madison joked weakly.
She sighed.
"Look at their last break ups, they haven't really lasted that long... I'm sure this time it will be no different. And besides, Zac is your brother, and family is important, he'll see that. He just needs time to cool down after seeing something that, I know, wasn't the case, but he was probably just confused."
She let out an ironic giggle. "You were right, Zac does have a way of being the topic of conversation."
Isaac
Isaac laughed. It felt so good to laugh. After the occurences of the last couple of hours he wasn't sure he'd be that lucky again.
"Yeah. Man, those two have had such a on/off relationship, it's ridiculas."
Madison
"Ah well... maybe it will be over for real this time, who knows. All we can do is be there for them... whoa, that sounded way to... old lady-ish for my liking."
Madison chuckled.
"Look, if Zac tries to start anything, beat him up. Well actually, don't... that kid is huge."
Isaac
"Ha ha, yeah. With or without powers, Zac could beat me up easy. I just... I can't believe he thought I would see Faith behind his back. Or cheat on Chrissy for that matter either," Isaac sighed.
Madison
Madison flinched slightly at Chrissy's name.
"Poor Ike, no long can pull the older brother thing over him?"
Isaac
"Nope," Isaac replied cheerfully. "Now I have to outwit him with intelligence. So yeah, I'm in trouble."
He sighed.
"And he's a fine one to accuse Faith of cheating. I bet he hasn't even told Faith about Saku yet."
Madison
Madison sighed.
"Well, the only time I'm aware of Faith cheating was when Zac had cheated on her. It's a long twisted saga, that's what their relationship is."
She giggled.
"Well Zac better watch out then, clearly he doesn't know who he's dealing with."
Isaac
"I think it's good for him to get a taste of his own medicine. Maybe now he'll shape up," Isaac replied. "Man... a saga yes. If their relationship was a TV show it would be a soapie, I'm sure."
Madison
"Oh I'd watch it, without a doubt. It'd be riveting. Probably rate higher than the others, and it could be called... Days Of Faith And Zac's Lives."
Madison giggled slightly.
"Wait... who's Saku?"
Isaac
"I was thinking something more along the lines of 'The Tongue and the Restless'," Isaac joked.
He grinned to himself then continued:
"Saku is Zac's son. To Nyx. And I might add that he was only conceived a few weeks ago," Isaac sighed. "Saku was put into Zac's custody yesterday - Nyx has an emergancy to attend to."
Madison
"Does... does Faith know? Coz... I'm thinking that'd not going to go down very well."
Madison sighed.
"They both need to be locked in a room with each other to discuss their problems. Wait, no, there'd be no talking. Ok, they should be separated by a wall, with a phone. Like they were in jail. Yes, that is the solution."
Isaac
Isaac laughed.
"Yes, that sounds like a plan. And no, I don't think Faith knows. Like I said, we only got Saku yesterday, and I don't think Zac knew before that that Saku even existed."
He sighed.
"I wish he would listen to me, but I guess he needs some time to cool off. Hopefully he'll be more sensible in the morning."
Madison
"Yeah, he just needs time to chill out. Things always seem better in the morning, after you've had time to think about them. But anyway, you can always just outsmart him with your wit."
Madison giggled.
"Well, I'm not sure how Faith will react to that. But whatever happens, I guess it's between her and him. Well... not really anymore I guess. This whole thing is confusing."
Isaac
Isaac and Madison chatted for a while longer (and they did eventually get away from Zac and Faith). When they finally hung up, Isaac was smiling to himself.
Then the smile fell.
"You're dating Chrissy!" he exclaimed to himself. "Stop thinking like that!"
But it was too late. The thought had already popped into his head.
He was falling for Madison.
