30 August 2003 - Meeting Hanson

Tegan, AiMsTeR and Michelle

Sophie and Heath

After the concert was over, and Sophie and Heath had done some soundbytes for the radio station back home, they were taken back stage to meet Hanson. Sophie was bouncing all over the place, while Heath just folded his arms and sighed slightly.

"Hanson!"

"Yes, Prongs, I believe that is their name." Heath rolled his eyes. Sophie had nearly screamed herself hoarse and sung until she was voiceless. But super Slayer healing meant she could talk again. Damn. The door opened and Heath nudged her with his foot. "Think they're here now."

Taylor

It was unusual to meet fans after a concert when they were all sweaty, but that was radio for you... nuts.

Taylor grinned at the pair standing with the radio person as they approached.

"Hey," he greeted, holding out his hand to the girl, "hope you enjoyed the show."

Sophie and Heath

"Yeah, it was great," Sophie said, smiling happily as she shook his hand. "Wow, this is just...wow."

"I think you broke her. She's usually more coherent." Heath grinned as she turned to give him the Slayer stare of death.

"Excuse me? I'm not broken."

"No...just slightly bent." The glare went up a few notches. "Oh, I'm kidding. Struth, I would've thought you'd learnt how to tell by now." He grinned as the glare didn't abate. "Name's Heath Black, and the girl threatening me silently with imminent painful death is Sophie."

Isaac and Zac

Isaac laughed.

"Well, it's good to meet you," he said. "And I hope she doesn't carry out that threat, for your own sake."

"Australian?" Zac asked, noting their accents. "Are you Australians?"

Sophie and Heath

"Yeah, true blue, mate." Heath grinned. "Soph's not so."

"Am. Was born there, country boy."

"Her father's Irish," Heath explained.

"Hey, still Aussie here!" Sophie smiled.

"And she wouldn't *really* hurt me." Sophie rolled her eyes.

"That's what I let him believe," she told Hanson. "You guys were really great out there tonight." Heath rolled his eyes. She slapped him upside the head. "You have no room to talk, country and western boy."

Taylor

"That's... interesting," Taylor mused, "and thanks again. The crowd were just awesome."

He looked Sophie over.

"I have a friend who has an Australian girlfriend, but I haven't heard from them in a while."

Sophie and Heath

"Aren't we fantastic?" Sophie asked semi-seriously. "What with the adorable accent and all."

"What where we up to?" Heath asked.

"People saying how cute our accent was? 47."

"And kangaroos."

"That's up to 68. America's been fun." Sophie bounced slightly. "I still can't believe I won the comp."

"She's the fan, I'm just the one she dragged along for the ride."

"You love me."

"Sometimes I really fear for your sanity."

Isaac and Zac

"That's okay," Isaac said. "We fear for Zac's sanity all the time."

"Yes. They're scared it'll come back," Zac joked.

"I really love Australia," Isaac went on.

"I tried vegemite once... that was -"

"Gross?"

"Tasted worse than it smells?"

"Mom likes it though."

Sophie and Faith

"Vegemite is ok." Sophie shrugged.

"I like Vegemite," Heath protested mildly. "But if you want more Aussie food that's good, you should try Tim Tams."

"And Mint Slices. Yummy. And like they should listen to your opinion on any matters of taste."

"Yes, I happen to like Country and Western music. Can we move pas that now?"

"I'm going to hold it against you for the rest of your life." Sophie grinned evilly. "LA's been good. Less stressful then home. Cos, yay. No homework."

Zac and Isaac

"Running jokes are always fun," Zac nodded.

"Yes. Except when they get old," Isaac pointed out.

"Then you just stop making them for awhile, and one day you bring it back up and everyone laughs."

"And then you wear it out again, and so begins a never ending cycle."

"Yeah. Fun huh?"

Sophie and Heath

"Yep," Sophie said gleefully. "I don't think I'll ever get tired of teasing him about moving to Damurum from Tamworth. Which is where we live now. You'll probably never have heard of it. Little country town." She and Heath shared a wry glance as they thought about the why. "I think towns out here are bigger."

"There are more people in America then Oz," Heath pointed out.

"Very good point, Padfoot." Sophie nodded. "And that's the other thing I can tease him about. Read the Harry Potter books?"

"I still maintain Sirius never should have died in Order of the Phoenix." Sophie leant over to him.

"Heath. He's dead."

"No, no he's not."

"He's obsessed," Sophie said helpfully.

Taylor

Taylor gave his brothers a worried look before shaking his head.

"We are still waiting for the day when Zac's sanity returns to him," he nodded to Sophie and Heath, "it would be a very good shock tactic... but honestly, he can be responsible when he feels like it."

Isaac and Zac

Isaac gave Zac a considering look, and then turned to Taylor.

"Are you sure?"

"Responsible is my middle name," Zac stated.

"Really? I thought it was Walker."

Sophie and Heath

Sophie giggled, then blushed. "You sound like me and my sister...sorta. That whole sibling thing. What's it like, being in band with your brothers?"

Zac and Isaac

"What's it like not being in a band with your brothers?" asked Zac cheekily.

"We fight and stuff just like anybody, but we're also good friends," Isaac answered.

"We have some pretty weird arguments sometimes, heh."

"Yeah, we know people who groan when we start."

Sophie and Heath

Heath didn't say anything, but Sophie could see him thinking it. She frowned at him, and he held his hands up. "I didn't say it."

"I could see you thinking it."

"What, you've added mindreading to your list of superpowers?" He looked at the Hansons. "It's really not fair. Women always seem to know what we blokes are thinking, and we never have a flaming clue."

Taylor

"Right there with ya," Taylor grinned with a nod.

"It's gets hard to hide from them once they get to know you. I've just recently been engaged so... there's a tidbit for you," he smiled to Sophie, "the general public doesn't know yet."

Sophie and Heath

Sophie squealed in excitement and jumped up and down for a few moments. A brief flicker of grief passed over Heath's face and he looked down for a moment. "Wow! That is so cool! Congratulations!"

"Yeah, congrats, mate." Heath grinned at Taylor. Sophie gave him a worried look, sensing something a bit off, and he shook his head slightly. "Hope you'll be happy together."

Taylor

"Yeah well... we plan to be," Taylor was all smiles.

"She's around here somewhere, but, yeah... She's not really the social type. And thanks again."

Sophie and Heath

"No worries, mate. Good to see someone happy round here." Heath grinned. "No one in LA seems to know how to smile. As in, really smile, with more then just their mouths."

Sophie considered asking something for a moment, about a magazine and some pictures she'd seen. Then dismissed it. She wouldn't be so rude. "And facelifts. I've never seen so many facelifts in one place."

Zac and Isaac

Zac laughed.

"Yes, I know what you mean," he grinned.

"I don't understand why people do that," Isaac said. "I mean, okay, if you had been in a horribly difiguring accident or something, yeah, I can understand plastic surgery. But the rest of the time?"

"Some people are weird?" Zac suggested.

"Yes. And on the other side of the spectrum from us."

Sophie and Heath

"And wouldn't it be painful?" Sophie said with a grimace. "Not going near a hospital if I don't have to."

"Not that that's such a worry for you. She heals fast. Thought for sure she'd have no voice, she was screaming that loud in my ear during the concert." Heath grinned as Sophie blushed.

Zac and Isaac

"See, now if you deafen the guy, how is he supposed to become a fan?" Zac asked teasingly.

"With great difficulty?" Isaac suggested.

Sophie and Heath

"Probably never gonna happen. No offense, but your music? Not my style."

"So you'd rather listen to Slim Dusty then Hanson?"

"Um, yeah. Isn't that what I've been saying?"

"It's not his fault he grew up in a culturally retarded place like Tamworth," Sophie said in pitying tones.

"Tamworth is not 'culturally retarded'," Heath defended his place of birth.

"It warped his musical taste when he was young. I've been trying to cure it, but...as you can see, the prognosis is grim."
