25 August 2003 - Taking Her Leave

Nessa

Faith

Faith finished her third shot of vodka and paid her bill. She went upstairs and stared at Zac's door for awhile, then found some paper and a pen, and scribbled down a quick message.

'Hey sweetie, Didn't want to wake you, but Xander wanted me to go for a patrol. By the time I got back, it was late... and so I just got Paige to come and get me. I'll come and visit later in the tour. Probably in two days or so... I'll call you or message if I can't make it. Thank you for tonight... I missed you a lot. I love you. Faithy xxx'

She slipped the note under the door, and quietly called for Paige.

With one last remorseful look at the door, Faith took Paige's hand and orbed out.

Once she was back home, Faith went into her kitchen, and grabbed a glass of water. She jogged upstairs to her room and sat on her bed, then stood and went into the bathroom. She opened her medicine cabinet and rummaged around until she found what she wanted.

Ahh, there they were. Anti-Depressants.

Faith hadn't had to take these in a few years, but she figured now was as good a time as any to take them again. She shook two pills into her hand and put them into her mouth, washing them down with her water. She undressed and hopped into the shower, then hopped out and put some pj's on. She crawled into bed and closed her eyes.

"Mama... do you miss my Daddy?" Walker asked.

"Yes I do, very much," Faith replied.

"What did he look like?"

Faith pulled out a picture of Zac, the only one she had left, and showed her son. "You were named after him, you know? His name was Zachary Walker Hanson."

"And I'm Walker Zachary Hanson! I'm gonna make my Daddy so proud, mommy!"

"You already have, sweetie. You already have." Faith kissed the top of Walker's head and pulled the five year old into her lap.

Tears leaked from under Faith's eyelids. She absently wiped them away, wondering why this was hurting so much.

"Mommy! Watch me!" Walker cried as Gunn lifted him over his shoulders and spun him around.

"I'm watching, baby."

"Weeeeeee!" Walker was put to the ground and he ran over to Faith, wrapping his arms around his mother in a fierce hug. "I love you, mommy!"

"I love you too," Faith replied, smiling as she lifted her son up, and sat him on her shoulders.

"Oh God... this hurts..."
