21 August 2003 - Later that evening...

Michelle

Isaac and Miette

"Where... where am I?"

"I'm sorry, Ikey-sweetie, but it was neccesary."

"Why... why is it so dark?"

"It's not dark at all. It's bright and light as day. Which is rather odd, now that I think about it. It is rather late. But then I am a light manipulator, so what else can you expect?"

"Miette..." Isaac gulped, "why can't I see?"

"I blinded you," she replied simply.

"Why?"

"Can't have you using your telekinesis against me."

"Why... why would I do that?"

Isaac felt a hand touch his chin.

"Because you're so noble," Miette replied mockingly, "I don't think you'd approve. It's a shame, but I can only hope you'll make just as good a sex slave without sight."

"A what?" Isaac exclaimed. "Miette! What's happened to you? You go on some trip, don't tell anyone where you're going - and just disappear and no one ever hears from you for over a month!"

He felt gentle, warm hands caress his chest. It was then that he realised he wasn't wearing very much.

"Let's just say I came to my senses. Oh," and Miette giggled, "something rather... interesting did happen to me though. I went to visit Kansas. It's just a big mass of destruction now."

The delight in her voice make Isaac nervous. He tried to catch her hands, but they kept slipping from his grip.

"I think it was all the radiation there... it had a most... interesting effect. My powers have changed. I think... I believe you could say I've mutated."

"Mutated?" Isaac repeated.

"Yes," Miette giggled. "Life is just so much more interesting now!"

"How... how have you -"

"I knew you'd ask that! Well, for a start I can turn myself into light. How fun is that? It's also why you can't touch me unless I want you to."

"Oh," Isaac thought.

"And I can move fast - at the speed of light I imagine. It's rather fun," she giggled some more, "I say that a lot don't I?"

"Yes, yes you do."

"But the best part is that I can make solid holograms."

"Solid holograms?"

"Oh yes. They can't actually carry anything or apply force, but you bump into them now instead of walking through them. Of course," and Miette frowned, "I seem to have lost my atom manipulation. Oh well, doesn't matter. Didn't use it much anyway."

"Anything else?"

"Not that I know of - yet. But I have been having the time of my life! Want for nothing, these days."

"Why? What have you been doing?"

"Now, now, that would be telling. And I think you've had enough excitement for one day."

And Miette left. Isaac reached out, but his hand only reached bars. She must have turned herself into light and gone through them like that, he supposed.

He put his hand to his eyes. He couldn't see.

Damn it, he couldn't see!

Whatever else she had done, she had succeeded in taking away his power.

"I may as well be human..."
