Moffats
A few hours later the four Moffatt brothers went down to one of the eateries on the commercial level and met up with Oli, Hunter, and Tate.
"Feeling any better?" Dave asked Tate.
Tate, Oliver and Hunter
"Yes..." Tate replied, eyeing Bob warily.
"All this food," Oliver observed, looking around. "Y'know I remember when this place was only a picture on a really big piece of paper."
Hunter snickered.
Moffatts
"Okay, so, hows about we all sit down and eat and get to know each other?" Scott proposed. "I'm famished." They ordered their food and then sat at a big table.
"So, I'm Scott, I'm the oldest, by about 11 months. They're triplets. We're Daths, and I have X-ray vision."
"I'm Dave, and I'm the fraternal triplet," Dave explained. "I'm also the youngest, and I have Tongue. It's cool. I'm studying to be a vetrinarian."
"I'm Bob. The middle triplet, and I'm pathic kinetic. I empathically and telepathically find out what other people want me to do, and I do it. It also affects my mood, and my personality, but ever-so-slightly."
"I'm Clint, I'm four minutes older than Bob, and eight minutes older than Dave. I'm an empath."
Tate, Oliver and Hunter
"I'm a pyrokinetic," Oliver replied. "Human/Dath hybrid."
"I'm a Dath/Sem hyrbid and a technokinetic," Hunter grinned. "Three kinetics at one table. Cool."
"Full Dath and Pathic Shifting. And I find out what people want me to be and I become that," she said, looking pointedly at Bob as if to say 'shifting is so much better than kinesis'.
"Ermm... I'm 17, and these two are 15," Oliver cut in quickly.
Someone was sending arrogance or something like that to Tate... and he had a feeling it was him!
Bob and Scott
Bob sent Tate a look that said. "Kinesis is soo much cooler than shifting," but didn't say it out loud.
"I'm twenty," Scott spoke up, "And they're 19." Scott picked up his hamburger and bit into it, then took a moment to look under Tate's shirt.
Tate and Oliver
Tate absently increased the size of her bust and went to her own eating, dismissing Bob as if he were simply not worthy of her.
"So, umm..." Oliver said. "What do you guys... do?"
Scott and Bob
"Well, we used to be in a band. Until Dave moved to Australia. Then Bob and Clint were in a band called Pusch, and I'm in a band called Boston Post. But we're also YIRAAS agents. Our parents were, while we were growing up, and we just wound up following in their footsteps," Scott said. He decided that Tate was beautiful, but would look much better with long, blonde hair.
Bob realized that Oliver wanted the salt, and he floated it over to him.
Oliver, Hunter and Tate
"Umm... thanks," Oliver said to Bob.
cing Faith eariler that day, Zac decid Hunter tried to hide a smile. Someone wanted Tate to be blonde, obviously, because that's the colour her hair was chainging. And it was growing longer too. Oh no... did this mean someone at this table had a barbie doll fetish?
Moffatts
Scott suddenly realized what was happening, and tried to stop.
"Sorry," he said, and then jumped back into the conversation. Clint took a bite of his steak and realized that it wasn't cooked enough. Without paying it much attention, Bob threw a tiny fireball on the steak until it was well-done.
"Tate," Bob spoke up. "I'm sorry I freaked you out this morning, although it really was mutual."
Oliver, Tate and Hunter
Tate eyed him warily for a moment.
"It's okay. I'm sorry too. But I hope I never see you alone again!"
"You know what we need?" Oliver mused. "We need more girls at this table. Tate's the only girl."
"No, Tate, that was not a cue for you to turn into a boy," Hunter put in.
Bob
"Pathic powers can be scary sometimes though," Bob said. "Tate, have you ever been around somebody who wanted you to be something that would have been dangerous to yourself? There was this one time that somebody was so angry he wanted me to throw myself off a bridge. Which, of course, I did. But I managed to slow myself down before I hit the water."
Tate and Oliver
"Hmm.... once..." Tate thought hard. "Once this guy tried to rape me -"
"What?" Oliver gasped.
"He wanted for me to try to struggle and try to get away," Tate frowned. "Weird... how some people get pleasure from violence... anyway of course I did struggle and try to get away. And succeeded. I'm sorry to say, he was not a happy cookie. I don't know why. I did what he wanted..."
She puzzled over this for a moment.
Clint and Bob
Clint winced. "That must have been rough." he looked at Bob. "And then there was the thing with Jessi Hanson."
Bob shuddered. "I still dream about that. That poor girl has been so abused, that she actually believes that she deserves to be hurt. She wanted me to throw flames at her," he winced. "I don't know if you all know her at all, her older brothers are Hanson." he explained.
Oliver and Tate
"Yeah, I've met them. My sister was dating Isaac there for a while," Oliver replied.
Tate looked up and twisted around. She looked directly at a man who had been watching them.
"You wanted to say something?" she asked.
"I... I couldn't help overhearing," said the man in an obvious English accent. "I once had a sister, who was a pathic shifter. Sometimes the biggest dangers are in what people want you to do that indirectly can hurt you. I never knew her all that well - I was the youngest and she was the second oldest. She was influenced by this particular guy in a way... well, none of us realised exactly how he influenced her - not until it was too late. Not until we found out that she had been involved in a drug lab. She never took the drugs herself - her power stopped her from doing that, but it didn't stop her from helping them made them. The lab exploded one night. None of them survived."
Bob
"That's very sad," Bob said. "Do you know if she ever met another pathic shifter or a pathic kinetic?" He asked. He was wondering if what had happened between him and Tate was normal.
Oliver and Tate
"No, I don't know," the man shook his head.
"I'm Oliver," Oliver spoke up.
dg Faith eariler that day, Zac decid "Oh, sorry, I'm Peter," he replied. "Peter Brown."
Oliver's eyes widened.
"Do you have a bunch of brothers name Leroy, Sam, Josh and what's the other one?"
"Luke," Peter smiled. "Yes indeed. How did you know."
"Sam's my dad."
"Oh. Oh!" Peter's eye widened. "Well, well, isn't this a small world after all? I thought, well, all of us except Leroy thought, that Sam was dead. That's the real reason why he became the man he is - never gave up on Sam and even when everyone else did, he did everything the could to keep looking. But that's... well, well."
"I'm living with Leroy now. And so is Tate. She's his foster daughter."
Peter looked at Tate thoughtfully.
"I didn't think Leroy would ever want to look after another pathic shifter. You're quite fortunate my dear."
Tate smiled.
Bob
"Hi, we're the Moffatts," Bob supplied. "I'm Bob, I'm Pathic-kinetic. It's just like pathic shifting, I suppose, though instead of becoming what people want, I do what they want."
Tate, Oliver and Hunter
Peter nodded thoughtfully.
"Probably a much better option. You have a chance to develop a personailty of your own."
"I have a personailty!" Tate exclaimed.
"But it's influenced by everyone around you."
"Isn't yours? Hmm? Gee, I don't know what everyone's problem is," she exploded. "Everyone thinks I'm some sort of toy or someone to be pitied. My power only amphlies how much I'm influenced. But we are all influenced by others. Always."
Oliver hadn't ever seen Tate lose her temper before. He didn't think... then she saw Hunter put his arm around her. Influenced by him then?
"Then who are you?" Peter asked. "Inside, who are you?"
"I can't tell you. You have to get to know me for yourself. There's more to me than meets the eye."
"An influenced reponse," Peter replied, pointing to Hunter.
Tate smiled.
"Yes. Just as you influenced your sister, she influenced you."
Peter didn't have anything to say to that.
Bob
Bob sighed. "And my power isn't that much different then hers. My personality changes as well. I am influence in all the same ways she is, except my actions change and not my appearance," Bob sighed. "Nobody gets it. I'm my own person, but I'm infulenced by everyone around me. No differently than anybody else is, just more strongly." Bob crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall.
Tate
Tate gave Bob a condescending look.
"Tate," Oliver warned before she could say anything. "And Hunter, knock it off."
"What? I'm not the one making her arrogant. I'm the one making her stick up for herself," Hunter grinned.
Bob
Bob narrowed his eyes at Tate, and the telekinetically pushed her back against the back of the booth that her head rocked back.
Tate, Hunter and Oliver
"I object!" Tate said standing up. "I shall not be treated in this manner!"
She started walking away from them. Hunter jumped up and joined her, and the two walked off.
"Umm... sorry... I think that was my fault," Oliver said appologetically. "I get a little protective of her sometimes, and... yeah... I think sometimes I make her arrogant..."
