Faith
Faith settled down in her bed, taking a last glance at the scythe. It was full of power, and she could feel it, everytime she touched it. She closed her eyes and fell asleep straight away.
Faith stood on a hill, over looking Sunnydale. She turned at the sound of a voice and then looked away, seeing herself at a grave stone. She read it.
BUFFY ANNE SUMMERS
1981-2001
BELOVED SISTER, DEVOTED FRIEND
SHE SAVED THE WORLD
A LOT
She looked up as Buffy came into view, and found herself surrounded with people.
"You have to know what to see," Buffy sang.
Faith looked up as a veil slid off a man's head. Faith squinted as Buffy pointed.
"The vessel."
Faith nodded, and suddenly found herself standing in the library in Australia.
Sophie
"Hey, I'm having a dream about school, and I'm not naked. A first!" Sophie said out loud, thinking herself alone. Then she saw Faith. "What the heck are you doing in my dream?"
Faith
"Right back at ya. This is weird."
Faith looked around and watched as steam rose off the ground.
"Ok, that's weirder."
Sophie
"Do you think that's a bad thing?" Sophie nibbled her bottom lip as she watched the steam rise. "Libraries are bad, bad places."
Faith
"I'm with you on that. School is a bad place. I mean, when are you ever going to need maths and science and... the english language."
Faith bent down and touched the ground.
"It's hot... just like the other night."
Sophie
"Well, if you're probably going to die before you hit 20, yeah. Not that much use." Sophie looked sad for a moment. "I don't really think there's that many Slayers down under, and there are a *lot* of demons. Anyway. Hot floor. That would be bad. Heat means fire maybe, and a fire in a library? Probably not a good idea."
Faith
Faith nodded.
"Probably not."
She stood up again and felt herself being drawn to the centre of the library.
"I think the entrance is here."
Sophie
"Yeah..." Sophie walked into the center of the library and knelt to put a hand to the earth. "It's burning hot." She sat back on her heels and looked back at Faith. "So, do we have a plan? Can anything we do here affect what happens in real life?"
Faith
"No... I don't think so. These dreams are usually the way The Powers That Be show us what to do."
Faith looked at her hand to find she was now holding the scythe. She held it up slightly as the ground in front of them swirled around and turned into stairs descending into the Hellmouth.
Sophie
"Well, that was in no way subtle..." Sophie said with a grin, and stepped down into the Hellmouth. "At least we have someone with experience here. Ooh, Mouth of Hell. Sounds like a neat themepark ride. Look, Mum, no hands."
Faith
Faith grinned as she followed Sophie down the stairs, still holding the scythe.
She stepped down from the last step and watched as the vessel stepped forward from the Turok-Han.
"You'd be those pesky Slayers, wouldn't you?"
Sophie
"Do they come under the to kill list? Because they're surely ugly enough. Quick role of thumb for the Slayer with no resources, if it's ugly, tentacled, horned, fanged or smells truly awful, kill it." Sophie got her stake out of the back of her pants and twirled it. "Bumpy over there comes under several of those categories. You just come under the stupid and ugly ones."
Faith
Faith nodded at the vessel.
"We'd be the Slayers, yes."
She turned to Sophie. "Bumpy is a Turok-Han. Slightly harder to kill than a regular vamp, but you'll be alright with it."
The vessel stepped forward and Faith stepped forward to him, involuntarily.
"You have to know what to see..."
Faith turned back to Sophie. "Does his face look weird?"
Sophie
"Odd." Sophie squinted at the man. "It's like his face is rippling. You don't want us to know who you are, do you? You're hiding. Well, seems to be a pergoative of evil. Hiding like a scared little girl behind the minions."
Faith
Faith reached out to touch his face, but he dodged from her.
"Ok... there is definitely something you're hiding. So what is it?"
"I can't tell you that."
"Obviously. So... how can I find out?"
Faith grinned and lifted the scythe.
Sophie
Sophie fairly bounced. "Do ya reckon if ya die in a dream, ya die for real? Can we use him as an experiment? Oh, do let's! Moony would love to know."
Faith
Faith grinned.
"Why not?"
She chraged at the guy, and kicked his head, then flipped as he grabbed for the scythe.
"It has power, I'm guessing you can tap into it like me, coz you're a Slayer."
She dodged a punch and went to slice him with the scythe.
Sophie
Sophie whirled and backflipped as the Turok Han came after her. She plunged her stake into its chest, and then backtracked quickly as it didn't dust. Ok. Let's try that again. She backflipped again, kicking it under the chin, then came down with her sword in her hand and decapitated it. This time, it dusted. "Let's kill the baddie and go on home, okeydai?" She called to Faith. "Slice him up with that scythe thingie there."
Faith
Faith twisted under his arms, then lifted the scythe above her head and sliced his face off, but instead of seeing what was under there, a bright light exploded and she couldn't see a thing.
And then they were standing in the library again.
"O...k?"
Sophie
"I wonder if he died," Sophie said thoughtfully as she slid her sword back into its sheath. She looked upwards. "Thank you Michael, Remiel." She looked back at Faith. "I don't think that was all they needed to tell us, or we would have woken up for real."
Faith
Faith nodded. She glanced at the table and saw a book lying on it, opened.
"Was that there before?"
Sohpie
"Don't think so. Why don't we take a gander at what words of wisdom it surely contains." Sophie rolled her eyes. "They're bloody melodramatic if you ask me. Do they do this often? It's like a bad horror art film."
Faith
"We're lucky... usually they're vague. Even more so."
Faith picked up the book and looked at it, flicking through it.
"Wow, pictures. Neat, thanks to the Powers," Faith said sarcastically.
She flicked through some more and saw what the pictures were showing. It showed a ball of light, and millions of Turok-Han burning.
Faith nodded. "Ok, so how do we get this ball of light doo-hickey?"
Sophie
"Instructions would be nice. A user's maneul or something similar." Sophie looked over Faith's shoulder. "I have no bright ideas to offer at this point. But whatever that is? I want one. It's shiney."
Faith
Faith nodded. "It is rather shiney. Like a globule of... sunshine."
She turned the book slightly and frowned.
"I don't think we get to create it... but I have a feeling we use it somehow."
She flicked the page. "Oh... I don't want to use it," she murmured, indicating to the picture of a dead person holding the light.
Sophie
"The Powers will probably choose someone." Sophie nodded. "Let's not worry about it till we have to. No worries, mate." She grinned slightly cockily. "Great saying, that."
Faith
Faith nodded.
"Ah my life... making stuff up as I go along."
She looked around, everything becoming more blurry and shook her head. "Guess we're waking up... I'll see you here tomorrow night then."
Faith awoke and sat up, reaching for her glass of water. "Ok, that was weird."
Sophie
Sophie sat up with a gasp and looked around at the sunlight. She looked over at the library, and shivered.
"What happened?" Samantha asked in concern. "We couldn't wake you up."
Sophie shook her head. "I'll tell you at Angel's this afternoon, ok?" The bell for the end of lunch rang and the three set off. Heath and Samantha eyed Sophie anxiously.
