Chrissy
Chrissy and Isaac came out of the movie cinema. She giggled.
"Oh that was funny. I liked the bit with the ladder!" Chrissy giggled a bit more, then looked around.
"You feel like getting some dinner?"
Isaac
"Sounds like a plan," Isaac grinned.
He linked arms with Chrissy and headed towards the car.
"Where would you like eat?"
Chrissy
Chrissy shrugged as they hopped into the car.
"Not sure... at this point, anything looks good. Do you know of anywhere?"
Isaac
"Well, there's this really great Italian restuarant I know," Isaac said. "That do you?"
He turned the car on and began backing out of the parking space.
Chrissy
They arrived out of the restuarant and Chrissy hopped out, waiting for Isaac.
"So what have you been up to lately?" she asked as they walked in.
Ewan
Ewan choked on his drink as the two walked into the resteraunt. That was Ike Hanson, with a girl on his arm. Hey, he'd be able to sell more pictures! That thought made him happy, so he started taking photos surreptitiously. Who would take them? He could probably try for international, if he sent in the ones of Taylor as well...
Isaac
Isaac shrugged as they were shown to a table.
"Not a lot. Wrote some songs. Of course, Tay's missing isn't he? So we're getting so much practice done," Isaac sighed. "Our tour starts next month."
Ewan
Ewan looked in his wallet and debated whether there would be enough retun on the photos to justify having a meal in there. Well, he thought there would be enough. Ewan hopped off his bike and walked in the door of the resteraunt. Soon, he was seated in a corner and blessing the wonders of microtechnology. The Swiss made these wonderful little cameras that fit inside the palm of your hand...
Chrissy
"Ah yes, the tour. The subject of discussion of many nights working with Faith."
Chrissy grinned as she sat down, then her expression turned serious.
"So no news of Taylor? I'm sure it'll work out."
Isaac
"Nope, still haven't heard," Isaac sighed.
He passed her a menu and opened up his own.
"We're supposed to be getting ready for our tour, but that aside... I mean, it's a horrible thing not knowing where your brother - or anyone else you love - is. My... my friend Miette has seemed to have disappeared too."
Chrissy
Chrissy nodded and tsked in sympathy.
"I'm sure they're all ok. It'll all turn out to be ok."
Chrissy took the menu that he passed to her and opened it, her eyes scanning the items.
Isaac
The two soon ordered, and Isaac requested a wine as well.
"One day I'm going to go on a wine tour. Zac thinks I'm weird because, let's face it, can't get drunk on alco, but y'know."
Chrissy
Chrissy grinned.
"Well, it does make you look good, I guess, with the... knowing about wines."
She screwed her nose up in confusion.
"Ok, I have no idea what I was talking about."
Isaac
Isaac laughed.
"That's okay. I tried explaining to Zac that it's not about getting drunk, ahh but he doesn't get it. So, how have you been?"
Chrissy
Chrissy smiled.
"I've been alright, tired mostly. I've been working a lot and I'll be working a bit more now that Faith's buggered off to Australia. It's almost a relief for her not to be at work. Lately all she's been moaning about is what will happen when you guys are on tour. I guess it's sweet that she's gonna miss Zac, but honestly..."
Isaac
"I know how you feel. I've been getting the same thing from Zac about Faith," Isaac nodded knowingly. "Gee, the way they carry on, you'd think the world was going to end."
At that moment, their food arrived.
Chrissy
Chrissy took a sip of her wine and they ate in silence for a few minutes.
"It is pretty sweet though. Makes me wonder if it actually is the real thing. We were all pretty skeptical at first."
Isaac
Isaac nodded in agreement.
"I know. And not without good reason. From all I've heard about Faith back then, well, she was... well... a slut. Not unlike Zac though, and his last relationships ended when he got one of them pregnant! Let's face it, when they went into that relationship, they were both in it for the sex."
Chrissy
Chrissy grinned and sipped her wine again thoughtfully.
"That's true... Faith was definitely a slut, and yeah, she'll probably even admit that. But now... despite unfortunate mishaps here and there, they seem to be happy together."
Isaac
"Yeah, I'll agree with that," Isaac nodded.
He enjoyed his meal, and glass of wine and the waiter soon arrived to take their dirty plates away.
Chrissy
Chrissy nodded as the waiter took their stuff away.
"So... what shall we do now?" she asked as they stood up after paying.
Isaac
"Hmm..." Isaac said thoughtfully. "Well, the night is still young. We could go to the look out?"
He held open the car door for her.
Chrissy
Chrissy smiled and hopped into the car.
"Sounds like a good idea."
Ewan
Ewan followed them out of the resteraunt, paying for his drink on the way out. He hopped on his bike and waited for them to move. Oh, I'll take the low road, and ye'll take the high road, and I'll be in Scotland befor ye...
Isaac
Isaac got into the car and started drving off. After a while he looked into the rearview mirror and frowned.
"I have the strangest feeling that car is following us."
Ewan
Ewan leant his bike further to the side, then cursed as the car he was using as cover peeled off into a different street. He was directly behind the car Ike Hanson was in now, and he couldn't drop further back without looking suspicious. Divil tak' it!
Isaac
Isaac shook his head.
"Gone now. Must have just been paranoid. Sorry if I scared ya."
Chrissy
Chrissy smiled.
"Nah, I'm alright. There was a moment there when I thought it was going to escalate into a full speed chase," she joked.
Ewan
"Demmit, demmit, demmit," Ewan cursed. He shook his head slightly. He was a proffessional. He memorised the number plate, deciding to run it through one of his mates in the RTA when he got a chance.
Isaac
"Been there, done that," Isaac grinned. "Y'know, once, when I was three, I tried to stop a car. Like, with my telekinesis. Damn foolish that was, but I was trying to save Tay from being run over. A few months ago, I'm turning trucks over on the highway at over a hundred kilometres an hour!"
He laughed.
"Of course I can laugh now, but it was exhausting at the time."
Chrissy
Chrissy smiled back at him.
"Well, telekinesis is very handy then. And wow, you're like an expert on car chases. So if I ever need a getaway driver, I'll call you."
Ewan
Ewan drove steadily behind the car. Please don't let them look round, please don't let them look round. Not properly, at the very least, and that wasn't so much to ask for, was it, God?
Isaac
Isaac laughed again.
"Yep, that would be me. Car chase extrordanaire," he paused. "But I never said a thing about motorcycle chases... and I think we're being followed by one of them now."
He sighed.
"I swear, Tay, Mi and Mouse disappearing has me paranoid."
Chrissy
Chrissy looked behind them.
"Well, do we want to pull over and see if he stops too?"
Isaac
"Good idea."
So, first chance he got, Isaac pulled over to the side.
"Sorry about this," he said.
Chrissy
"Hey, no problem."
Chrissy stretched her arms out in front of her.
Ewan
Ewan ran his fingers through his red hair, making it scruffier and more untamed then ever. He was so busted. What tae do, what tae do?
Isaac
Isaac watch the motorcycle go past and shook his head. Then he pulled back on the road.
"Sorry," he said again. "But it doesn't even need to be someone dangerous. I've been followed on dates before."
Ewan
Ewan worried his lip for a moment, then decided tyo continue up the road a bit, then wait for them to go past. About two hundred meters up the road, he got his chance, then settled to watch for their car, engine purring away.
Chrissy
Chrissy nodded.
"Downside to fame?"
She settled in her seat again.
Isaac
"Definitely part of the downside," Isaac agreed.
They arrived at the lookout shortly and got out of the car.
Ewan
Ewan waited for their car to go past, then pulled out onto the road again. Och aye, but he was guid.
Chrissy
Chrissy followed Isaac out of the car.
"Nice up here."
She shivered slightly and pulled her coat tighter around her body.
Ewan
Ewan decided to brazen it out. Most people looking at him didn't believe what he really did for a living. He just looked...trustworthy. And the people who believed that had never heard the saying, 'Honest faces are usually attached to liars.' He drove up the road to the lookout and acted totally unaware of the other people's existence as he parked his bike, and dismounted.
Isaac
Isaac put his arm around Chrissy and led her over to the actual looking out spot.
"It's amazing out here."
Chrissy
Chrissy smiled as she looked out over Tulsa.
"It is amazing..."
She leant closer into Isaac and relaxed into his arm.
Isaac
Isaac found himself smiling.
"It doesn't matter how many times I come here, my reaction is always the same. Funny, isn't it?"
Ewan
Ewan rummaged in his jacket pocket and got out his packet of cigarettes and a lighter. He lit one and inhaled, the embed glowing in the dark. Ok. Let's go for the nature photographer approach. Thank god he'd already done that at one point. Meant he'd look like he'd have a clue of what he was doing. He checked his camera and screwed on a long distance focuser. Zipp, whirrrrr! He made sure he had some extra film in his pockets, then started to walk to the lookout. He fiddled with the flash.
Chrissy
Chrissy nodded, too distracted by the view.
"All this time living in Tulsa and no one ever suggested coming up here."
She smiled as she watched the twinkling lights.
Ewan
Ewan made his way to the lookout and did take in a moment to look at the panoramic view spread out beneath him. Bonny, bonny lights...He smiled slightly. Maybe he would do what he was pretending to do after all. He fiddled with his camera, readying his startled surprise expression for when they noticed him. Och, I'm jest a braw lad from Scotland, and I'm no papprazzi, no sae. He leant over the railing and took a flash photo, cigarette dangling from his lips.
Isaac
The flash was too obvious not to noticed. Isaac glanced over at the man and shook his head. Dang photographers. Papprazzi or tourists, always good for spoiling romantic occasions.
He chose to ignore him.
Chrissy
Chrissy looked over at the man and frowned for a second.
She decided to ignore him and returned her attention half to Isaac and half to the view she was watching over.
Ewan
Ewan grinned slightly. Weel, if it had been him he was
interuptting, he would have asked the other guy to
take a hike. Isaac was obviously too used to this. He
looked around for a place he could rest his camera on.
A few metres away, there was a tree that looked like
it would do the job. "Sware to God, I am going to kill
my editor," he muttered under his breath. He started
over to the tree and leant his camera against it as he
snapped a few shots of the view. "Sich a foine idea
nae, send the apprentice out in the middle of the
bluidy night to get some photos of the lights of
Tulsa. Kiss arse." He sighed in an aggrieved fashion.
"Ah! Sheelah, thou'rt my darling,
The golden image of my heart;
How cheerless seems this morning,--
It brings the hour when we must part;
Though doom'd to cross the ocean..." He half sang
quietly a snatch of Scottish melody, pretending he had
no idea the other people were there. He was Scottish.
They were American. They;d believe he was that stupid.
Isaac
Isaac sighed.
"C'mon. Let's go," he said to Chrissy, then added a little louder. "No matter where you go, there's always some malicious jerk who wants to spoil things."
He started on back to the car.
Chrissy
Chrissy nodded.
"Ok, good idea."
She followed Isaac back to the car.
Isaac
"Anywhere in particular you'd like to go?" Isaac asked. "Or would you prefer to go home?"
Chrissy
Chrissy shrugged.
"It's up to you. I'm easy."
She smiled then realised what she said. "I mean I'm easy to please. I mean I'm happy to do whatever."
Ewan
Ewan decided his work here was done. He'd managed to get a few shots of the two full face, together. He was pretty sure they'd be clear too. And now he had some pics to sell to the Tulsa Tourist commission. If they'd wrttien him off as a jerk, he wouldn't have to worry about them either. Ewan laughed as he slipped the hood back from his face and leant on the guard rail. He might stick around Tulsa for a bit longer even.
Isaac
Isaac laughed.
"I knew what you meant," he said.
He paused briefly before getting into the car. Just long enough to give that annoying date-spoiler a little push with his telekinesis. Just enough to smash his camera. He smirked as he settled into the drivers seat.
He wasn't normally vindictive, but it had been a long time since he had a really romanitic night out, and he resented it being spoiled. Besides, he wasn't entirely convinced that the view was the only thing that guy had been photographing.
Chrissy
Chrissy hopped into the car and smiled over at Isaac.
"Oh, I could create an illusion for him, but I really shouldn't."
Isaac
Isaac grinned.
"I smashed his camera," he told her with a twinkle in his eye. "Go ahead. Cast an illusion. It'll make you feel better."
Chrissy
Chrissy giggled and lifted her hand, concentrating on creating a new scene for him.
She opted for a vision of his camera fixed, so he'd pick it up and not realise it was broken until he looked at it under the light.
Then she cast one that made him think he was wearing a tutu.
She giggled again.
Ewan
"What the hell?" Ewan said as a tutu appeared around his waist. "I'll wear a kilt but this is jest plain ridiculous."
Isaac
Isaac laughed.
"He just looks so... shocked!"
He grinned at Chrissy.
Chrissy
Chrissy grinned back at him.
She continuted to add frills onto the tutu, then some glitter and finally a leotard and a tiara.
"He's a ballerina," she laughed.
Ewan
Ewan made a strangled noise. What in the name of the Guid Lord was going on? "I must be going mad. Things like this just don't happen...ha. I'm insane. That explains *sae* much." He ran a hand through his hair. "And just to top it all off, my camera's broken. Weel, I know who's not eating for a couple of days t' pay t' replace the thing..."
Isaac
Isaac chuckled. Had he been able to hear watch Ewan was saying he might have felt bad, not being the vengeful type. So it was a good thing for his conscience that he couldn't.
Isaac took hold of Ewan and made him do a pirouette.
Ewan
Ewan was seriously spooked now. If he'd been a superstitious man, he might've believed it was the Fae. As it stood, the idea was looking more and more attractive. What the *hell* was going on? The thought of aliens never crossed his mind. Ewan sat down heavily on the ground and cradled his broken camera to his chest. "Och, my poor head." He pressed the heel of a hand to his temple and sighed. Bluidy Faeries. "Ok, you've had yer fun, nae whatever the hell it is that's playing with me, would ye just gae?" Please?
Chrissy
Chrissy dropped the illusion and laughed.
"Well serves him right for ruining our night."
She paused.
"Well, his ruining our night gave us some fun, so hmm, I don't know whether to be angry or happy."
Ewan
"Och, thank Guid," Ewan sighed as the disturbing garments disappeared and his normal jeans, thick hooded jumper and sneakers reappeared. "Bluidy unbelievable." He was almost too afriad to move in case it happened again.
Isaac
"Laugh. Life must be laughed at, or you only get depressed," Isaac grinned.
He started the engine.
"As much fun as it is, I think we should leave the guy alone now."
Chrissy
Chrissy nodded.
"I think he's learned his lesson."
She settled into her seat.
"Well that was exciting."
Ewan
Ewan waited for a bit, then got up and walked slowly down to his bike, glancing around warily. That had been too fey for his liking. Too out of this world.
Isaac
Isaac drove Chrissy home and walked her to the door.
"It was a good night," he said.
He hesiated for a moment, then gave her a kiss.
Ewan
Ewan got on his bike and drove slowly home, trying to figure out how he was going to pay to ger his camera fixed, his rent and manage to buyt enough food to stay alive all at the same time. Dammit! It was going to be very expensive to replace the lens. *Very* expensive. How could he have been so clumsy? He made his way into the dingy hotel room and flopped down on the bed to stare at the cracked and mildewed ceiling. If it got really bad...he could ring his cousins. But he really didn't want to do that. Ewan sighed.
Chrissy
Chrissy kissed Isaac back, and after a moment, they both pulled away.
"Thanks for tonight," she said.
She turned to unlock her door.
"I guess I'll see you around then."
Isaac
"Sure," Isaac replied. "See you later."
He made heis way back down to the car and drove home. Despite the annoying guy at the lookout, it had been a great evening
