Zac and Isaac
After dinner that night, Zac asked if he could speak to Diana and Walker.
"It's important," he told them.
Zac had also previously asked Isaac to join them. He really needed the moral support.
"No problem," Isaac had replied.
Walker
Walker looked between his sons and wife curiously.
"Sure Zac, anything," he nodded.
"Come to the office."
He led the way in.
Zac and Isaac
Zac waited until everyone was seated. Isaac gave his brother a reassuring smile.
"Well," Zac began after taking a breath. "I... dang..."
"No, you are not chickening out now," Zac told himself.
He took another breath and tried again.
"About, umm, well, a month ago I went to this party. There was other aliens and mutants there. So they had kero. And I kinda... drank more than I should have."
This was so hard. He couldn't believe he was having to tell his parents a second time that he got someone pregnant!
Walker
"You became drunk," Walker stated the obvious with a nod, seated behind his desk.
He lifted a pen and began to tap it absent-mindedly.
Zac and Isaac
"Very, very drunk," Zac nodded. "But not so drunk that I don't remember what I did."
"And what was that?" Diana asked.
Zac gulped and his eyes met Isaac's. Isaac returned his gaze and gave him an encouraging nod.
"I slept with another woman," Zac then rushed on. "And I got a call from her the other day, and she... she told me that... she's pregnant."
Unable to look at them, Zac whirled around on his heel and looked at the wall.
Walker
Walker pursed his lips and raised his eyebrows.
Diana frowned and opened her mouth to say something, but he put his hand up to stop her.
"Is she human? Does she know of aliens?" he asked calmly.
Zac and Isaac
Zac managed to get the nerve to turn around. He stared at his feet as he answered.
"She's mutant. And yes, she knows about aliens. I'm... I'm really sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen. Again."
"Keep going Zac," Isaac encouraged. "Tell them about the arrangement you made with her."
Zac gulped and nodded.
"Desiree... she didn't want to keep the baby. She wanted to know what I wanted to do with it. I umm... I said... I said I'd keep it."
Walker
"A wise choice," Walker regarded calmly.
He hesitated for a moment, before throwing the pen down.
"I sincerely hope, Zac, that this does set an example for yourself unlike last time. I know you didn't mean to after Julie," he put his hand up to defer any arguement, "but maybe this will help you consider not only your immediate future, but how much you do drink and just how vulnerable you can be."
Zac and Isaac
Zac nodded miserably.
"I swear I never intended for it to happen," Zac said. "I nearly lost Faith because of sleeping with her in the first place. I mean, I told her the next day, but y'know."
"You're babbling again, Zac," he thought. "Knock it off already."
"Ahh, yes about Faith -" Diana began.
"She and Julie both know," Isaac cut in diplomatically. "Zac's not going to take back any part of his agreement with Julie and Faith is being forgiving about the pregnancy huh?"
Zac nodded.
Walker
Walker nodded slowly.
"It sounds like you have the majority of this already sorted yourselves," he couldn't stop a slight grin showing on his face.
"But always know that we'll be here for you. If you need anything, just ask."
Zac and Isaac
"He might be an idiot, but at least he clean up after himself, right?" Isaac grinned.
"Very funny," Zac replied, but he was smiling. "I umm, I also told Desiree that if she needed anything during the pregnancy, she could call. So if you hear from her and I'm not around... umm, yeah."
Walker
Walker smiled and laughed quietly.
"Yes Isaac. And as long as she tells me who she is, I will have no problem in either helping her myself, or informing you of the situation," he smiled at his son.
Zac and Isaac
"Okay, no problem," Zac smiled. "Thank you for listening... and not getting mad at me."
Isaac and Zac then left the office.
