Faith
Faith pulled her phone out and dialled Zac's number quickly. She listened to it ring and smiled sadly when he picked up.
"Hey, Zac."
Zac
"Hey sexy," Zac replied, sitting back in his chair. "How are you? Y'know, other than sexy?"
Faith
Faith grinned.
"I could ask you the same thing, but I'm, well... I sorta have some news, would you be able to come over? I think it's better if we do this in person."
Zac
"Sure," Zac replied.
They hung up and a few minutes later Zac was at Faith's door. He wondered what it was about.
Faith
Faith opened the door when she heard the doorbell. She gave Zac a sad smile.
"Ok, I'm glad you're here, come in."
Zac
Zac stepped inside, and gave Faith a kiss on the way.
"I'm glad I'm here too," he grinned. "What's up?"
Faith
Faith led Zac into her living room and indicated for him to sit down.
"Well... I really just had to say goodbye. Not in a bad way. Well... sorta. But... it's a long story."
Zac
Zac sat down, his eyes focused on Faith's face.
"Not in a bad way? You saying goodbye to me at all is bad," he replied with a wry smile. "I have time. Tell this long story of yours."
Faith
Faith sat next to Zac and reached out to caress the side of his face. She kissed his nose.
"You remember how a few days ago we were sitting here and The First came and spoke to us?"
Faith went on quickly. "Well... the next night, I had a prophecy dream... it's a Slayer thing, I guess. I disregarded it, but then I had another one and... I was shown what I had to do. I have to go to Australia and close the Hellmouth, and I have to go tomorrow, otherwise... we're all going to die. Unless of course I fail. In which case I'll die and... well, we'll all die."
Zac
Zac was silent for a long moment, disgesting this.
"So basically... you have to save the world. You know, I can't understand why Mom doesn't like you. You're like Ike - always rescuing someone."
Faith
Faith let out a laugh.
"Yeah, basically. I just didn't want to disappear and you not know why. And if I died, then... well, then you'd never know."
Zac
Zac shook his head.
"Nope, nope, that's not acceptable. I forbid you to die. You're not allowed."
Faith
Faith smiled.
"Well... I've never saved the world on my own. So... this is really the moment of truth. But knowing that you're here waiting for me, will help me through this."
Zac
Zac smiled.
"I will wait for you forever," he declared solomnly.
He kissed her lips gently.
Faith
Faith kissed Zac back and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I love you so much... I'll hurry back then."
Faith smiled uncertainly and closed her eyes for a second, wishing she had more confidence in her abilities.
Zac
"I love you too," Zac replied.
He kissed her again, deeper, and held her close. After a minute or two he pulled away, his face still touching hers.
"Do you wanna?"
Faith
Faith smiled slowly.
"Of course."
Zac
And so Zac proceeded to give Faith an extra incentive to come back home soon and alive.
