Zac
After telling Faith eariler that day, Zac decided he needed to work up some nerve to tell his parents, and tell someone else.
He walked up the stairs and knocked on Jess's bedroom door.
"Jess?"
Jessica
Jess turned down her stereo, and set her diary down on her bed.
"Come in!" she called.
Zac
Zac opened the door and walked inside.
"Hey Roo," he said. "There's... there's something I wanna tell you. Something important."
Jessica
"Okay, I can tell by the look on your face that it's serious. So come, sit down on the bed, and talk." she ordered her big brother.
Zac
Zac grinned and obeyed.
"Well..." he said. "Okay... I haven't told Mom and Dad yet, because... I'm still working up the nerve. But Ike knows and Faith knows."
He took a breath.
"About a month ago I got, well, drunk. And I ended up having sex with this girl - Desiree. She... she called yesterday. She's pregnant."
Jessica
Jess groaned. "Oh, Zac, not again. Well, do you know what you're going to do yet?" She asked.
Zac
Zac nodded.
"Dez doesn't want the baby, so... so I'm going to keep it," he gulped nervously. "So, whether or not Julie moves in with us, I'm going to be looking after a baby."
Jessica
Jess smiled. "I think that's great, Zac. I'm gonna be an aunt! Twice!" Jess giggled. THen she got a serious look on her face. "There's actually something I want to tell you, Tigger. I haven't told Mom and Dad yet, but I'm thinking about moving to New York. I spoke to Professor Xavier at Mutant High? And he said that I'm welcome to come in September for the fall semester, providing that the school is still standing." She said.
Zac
"Oh!"
Zac gave her a long look. But not one without a smile.
"Well, I'm sure as heck gonna miss you if you do. But I think Julie's thinking of moving there. If she does, it won't matter if you're here of there, you'll have one of my kids to play Aunt to," he grinned.
Jessica
Jessi smiled. "That'll be cool. And I'll be home for all the holidays, just, I won't be homeschooling anymore. I never really liked it much, anyways," she told Zac. "I've always wanted to go to a regular school, try out for cheerleading, vollyball, swim team. Have a regular boyfriend and a regular life." Then she grinned. "Adam's going too," she giggled.
Zac
Zac raised an eyebrow and gave her a teasing grin.
"I hope they don't have any co-ed dorms," he grinned.
Jessica
"I'm not the one who can't keep it in my pants," she tesed him back.
Zac
"You're not the one who has to," Zac replied with a twinkle in his eye. "It's Adam who has to keep it in his pants."
Jessica
"Adam. . . has been amazing. He knows how badly I've been hurt in the past, and he's completely willing to wait until I'm ready. I'm definately still pretty gun-shy," she said honestly. "Adam and I haven't done anything more than kissing and cuddling." Jessi sighed. "Honestly, I don't know if I'll ever be ready to have sex again. In my mind, I'm still equating it with pain."
Zac
The grin faded from Zac's face.
"Hey, I'm sorry you fell that way, y'know?" he said. "I guess in this we're the complete opposites of each other, but yeah... Don't, don't ever deicide never to have sex again, okay? Because, when you find that really special person, it's the best thing in the world. I suppose you don't really need to hear the details about your older brothers' sex life, but, yeah... what Faith and I have is amazing. And I think the major factor is that we love each other so, so, so much. Believe me. It's a completely different ball park when it stops being just physical and starts being something... something, umm... something more... complete, if you will. Body, mind and soul. All at... yeah okay, I'll shut up now."
Jessica
Jess laid her head in hir big brither's lap. "Tigger, I don't mind hearing this stuff. In fact, I think I need to. I'm, just, so scared, you know? That, when I am ready, with whatever guy, and I decide to go to that enext step, I'm so afraid of being hurt again."
Zac
Zac stroked Jess's cheek.
"After all you've been through, you're entitled," Zac said. "You only take the next step when you're certain, beyond a doubt. Because y'know... I've been in relationships where it was really all about sex and that's... I mean at the time I thought it was pretty good. And then Faith came along and it really is a whole other level. Just having sex with anybody just for the heck of it... it's a mere shadow of what I have with Faith, and not just the sexual side of our relationship either. I hope... I hope you have something as amazing one day too."
Jessica
"I hope for that more than anything," Jess said, feeling Zac stroke her hair. "And I think we all have a lot of healing to do. Me, Avie, Tay, you, Mouse. Especially Natalia. We've all gotten so damaged this past year."
Zac
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," Zac replied. "We've lasted this long and we're going to get through it all. No matter what life throws at us."
Jessica
"I think we will," Jess said, as they laid on their backs, like they did as kids, looking for picturesw in the shadows.
