23 July 2003 - Telling Faith

Zac

Diana looked at Zac anxiously that morning.

"Zac, are you okay?" she asked.

Zac jumped and looked at her.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," Zac replied, obviously not.

He was a nervous wreck about telling Faith today.

"You sure?"

"I'm sure."

Diana sighed. Her kids never told her anything any more.

Zac soon finished breakfast. He got dressed, grabbed his wallet and keys and then went out to the van and drove over to Faith's.

He sat in the car for a little while before he got the nerve to actually go out and ring the bell.

"You have to do this," he told himself. "Okay, because there's no way you're going to hide a baby in eight months time."

He shifted his weight from foot to foot as he waited for Faith to answer the door.

Faith

Faith groaned from her position on the couch, clutching her stomach. She had been feeling sick since the Firsts visit, but she decided to get up and answer the door.

She got up and padded slowly to the door, hoping that whoever was at the door would have some good news for her. Her mood brightened when she opened the door and saw Zac.

"Hey you."

Zac

"Hi Faithy," Zac smiled at her.

He gave her a kiss.

"Feeling better?"

How oh how could he tell her?

Faith

Faith smiled and let Zac in.

"I'm feeling much better now."

She kissed him again, while closing the door.

"So, what's up?"

Zac

"Well, umm, I umm... have some news..."

Zac started wringing his hands again.

"I... well, it's... yeah... whether it's good news or bad is really up to interpretation... But either way, it's really, really important that I tell you..." he trailed off.

"Just say it Zac!"

Faith

Faith raised an eyebrow.

"Ok, your hesitation can mean a few things. Either you slept with someone else, or you're moving away from me, or you hate me, or you want to break up with me, or your mom is going to come over and shoot me. Or all of the aforementioned."

She grinned and ruffled his hair.

"It's ok, baby. I love you, you can tell me anything."

Zac

Zac took a deep breath.

"Well... it's not that I slept with someone else... it's more of a result of what happened when I slept with someone else last month - which I told you about."

He chewed his lip. "Just say it Zac! Just say it!"

"I... I got her... I got her pregnant."

Faith

Faith gave Zac a weak smile and nodded.

"I'd have rathered one of the others."

She tucked some hair behind her ears and backed up slightly.

"Um... well, I'm kinda speechless."

Zac

Zac gave her an appologetic look.

"I am really, really sorry Faith. I really am. I wish I could go back and stop that day from ever happening," he sighed. "Desiree doesn't want the baby, and well, I don't really like the idea of abortion - so I'm... I'm going to keep the baby. I told Desiree if she needs anything while she's pregnant, she can contact me."

Zac gulped.

"Please don't be mad," he begged. "Please don't get upset with me. I'll understand it if you do... but please don't."

Faith

Faith blinked numbly, her mind swimming with all the new information she'd been told. She took a deep breath and opened her mouth, then closed it again, not knowing what she was going to say. Or even if she had anything to say.

She was crying out in her mind, screaming that she didn't want to lose him, but the words wouldn't come.

Finally she nodded and took another deep breath.

"Zac... I... I forgave you for sleeping with her, I guess... I could forgive you for this."

Zac

Zac let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding.

"Thank you," he said. "And Faith, I swear it, I'm never going to sleep with another woman while we're dating ever again. And even then I don't think I will. Because as Ike so calmly pointed out to me, this is the third girl I've gotten pregnant. So yeah. I know Daths are fertile, but I think I might have gotten extra on that count."

He tentatively reached out and took her hand.

Faith

Faith let him take her hand and she gave him a little smile, then looked away.

She was hurting like hell inside, but she wasn't going to say anything. She loved him too much to let him go again, and she could handle this. Hopefully. But on top of the First Evil being back, she felt her eyes water slightly, then she started crying uncontrollably.

"I'm sorry," she cried.

Zac

Zac wrapped his arms around Faith and held her close.

"It's okay to cry," he said. "It's okay."

What kind of boyfriend was he? To make his girlfriend cry? Considering all the stuff he put her through, it was a wonder she was still with him, he felt.

Faith

Faith wiped her eyes and hugged Zac gently.

"I'm sorry, it's just... ugh, all this... mess with the First and lack of sleep and yeah. I'm not at my best at the moment."

She kissed Zac's cheek, and rested her head on his shoulder for as few seconds.

Zac

Zac rubbed her back.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I wanted to tell you as soon as I found out... if I had known you weren't feeling so good, I would have put it off for a couple of days."

"It would have driven me nuts, but I would have put it off," he thought.

He kissed her head gently.

"Is there anything I can do?"

Faith

Faith shook her head.

"No, it's alright. I'm glad you told me now... I'd rather know than feel like you were keeping something from me. While we're at it, you have no other news, like you're really a woman?"

She bit her lip and looked up.

"Well, I guess I'd know if you were a woman."

Zac

Zac laughed.

"Hmm, well, unless I forgot to tell you that Tay and Mouse are missing... no... none other news," he replied, sobering quickly as he thought of his brother.

Faith

Faith ran her fingers through his hair.

"Still not back? They'll be found, and they'll be ok. And if they're not, I'll just go out and kill whoever did it."

She touched the side of his face lightly.

Zac

Zac smiled at he feel of her touch. He loved her so much!

"I'm sure you would. I'm so glad you're on our side!" He grinned.

Faith

Faith smiled back at him and kissed his cheek lightly.

"I'll take that as a compliment."

Zac

"Good," Zac smiled. "I wouldn't want to give you anything else."

He kissed her back and stroked her hair.

Faith

"You're sweet," Faith said softly.

She smiled at him for a moment, then hugged him close.
