Isaac and Zac
After Church, instead of hanging around chatting as the Hansons usually did, Isaac decided to leave as soon as the service was over.
"Why?" asked Zac. "Can I come with you?"
"No," Isaac replied, shaking his head. "There is something I need to do by myself."
Zac shrugged.
"Okay."
Isaac left in his own car, and drove to the cemetary. When he pulled up, he took out a bunch of flowers he had bought especially and walked to Myra's grave.
"Hey, sweetie," he said softly. "I can't believe it's been a year since you've been gone. I've missed you a lot."
He sighed and knelt down.
"I wish your memory hadn't been so defiled with Ashley. You deserve better than that. I know Avie never intended for it to happen, but you know."
He put the flowers on her grave.
"I know they were your favourite," he said with a small smile. "Man... a year... if you were still alive, where would we be? I like to hope that you could have accepted me being an alien. We'd be planning the wedding at least by now. Maybe even actually married. I miss you so much!"
He sighed again.
"You know what I can't believe? I've gone through three girlfriends since you went. Well, if you include Isis. Sorta. And I'm not including Chrissy because we only went on the one date. But y'know what I mean. That's insane. And they've all been in the last six months. Better than the first six. Man, I was a mess!"
He chatted to her for a little longer, then at last got up to leave.
"I'm never going to forget you," he promised her. "Never."
