Emily

Emily appeared on the front lawn out of nowhere, wondering exactly what, or who, her next assignment would be. He hadn't exactly given her a lot of information, He'd just told her to go to the Xavier Institute and guard the people there from malevolent spirits, and not to take any souls until he gave her explicit orders. So she wandered up the front steps and into the foyer. She just stood there silently against the door, not talking to anybody, almost acting like she didn't exist, though she was in corporeal form at the moment.

Nyx and Logan

Nyx's lips were tight with fury as she stormed up to Emily. "Oh no. No no no no. You can take your sweet little behind back to Jehovah and tell Him to stay the hell away from those I've taken under my protection. You are not taking any of them, you hear me? Otherwise we can find out for certain which one of is the strongest." She snarled in Emily's face. "And I'm betting it would be me. So, I suggest you go tell Jehovah that He is not playing his games here. I won't stand for it. You hear me? I simply won't stand for it. These children are *mine*."

Logan came up behind her and put his hands on her arms as she fairly vibrated with fury. "What's up, babe?"

"Logan, meet Emily. Also known as the Angel of Death, The Soultaker and so on," Nyx informed him icily. "And that is exactly why I am telling her to get the hell off my territory. Did you not feel the wards? Or do the rules not apply to you and your boss?" She spat at Emily.

Emily

"Nyx, sweet child, I've been around for an eternity, do you really think you could take me?" Emily said, smiling sardonically. "Besides, I'm here for protection, to to take anyone. There are children here very precious to Jehovah, and he wants me to protect them from malevolent spirits. So relax, or I'll have to reprimand you. I know your mother taught you proper manners. Do I need to remind you that you are an infant?" Emily may have only appeared to be 14, but she suddenly took into herself the power and grace of the millenia she had experienced.

Nyx, Logan and Nathan

Nyx snarled, her ears flat against her skull, hairs on the back of her neck rising. "Just watch me try it, you little self righteous midget. You're the one who's being rude here. My wards. My seal. This area has been dedicated to Bastet. Jehovah will have to take it up with my mother if He wants you here. There are rules to this type of thing. You forgot to ask for permission. You're the trespasser here." If she'd been cat, her tail would have been lashing. "I knew angels were rude. You're just confirming it. Impertinent beings."

Logan raised his eyebrows, then turned around slightly to see Nathan picking his way through the crowd. The mutant's eyes were covered with a black bandage but he unerringly picked his way through the crowd as if he could see. He came and stood next to Nyx, blind eyes fixed on Emily's face.

"Angel of God, by darkness clouded. Know your heart. Please, tell me. Can I die yet? I want to leave this earth behind."

Emily

Emily put her hand on Nathan's shoulder. "Sweet child, God has plans for you yet. You are needed to help the little nes. When your time has come, I will come for thee, but not before," she said in a gentle tone. THen she looked back at Nyx.

"Nyx, Jehovah already cleared it with Bastet. Many of the students here belong to Him. She has agreed to let me take guard over this place. I hope we can work together, dear child. For your mother has always been a friend." Emily looked at Logan.

"She has never truly fogiven me for taking the firstborn during the Plagues in Egypt when she was still just a kit," she explained.

Nyx and Nathan

Nyx mumbled something under her breath, then stormed off. Students scattered out of her way as she headed to the Danger Room to work off some tension. Logan gave Emily one more appraising look, then walked off after his lover. Nathan sighed wistfully.

"It's so hard you know. I see, and then I cannot see what comes after. It's all clouded. Truly, I just want to go home. I'm so tired."

Emily

"It may not be much consolation, dear one, but I can promise you that there is a place in Paradise waiting for you. You will get your peace when you time has come, I can assure you that," she said as she took his hands in her own. "Just keep the faith, child."

Nathan

"It is all I have, isn't it? I just want to go home, Emily." Nathan looked at her sadly. "I know there's bits missing in my mind, it's all broken up and has blood scattered over it like roses. I'm so tired of fighting. I'm tired of breathing. I don't want to see anymore. I'm blind, and I still see." The firework flashes filled his mind. "I can't sleep. I can't do this anymore..."

Emily

Emily sighed and stood up on her tiptoes to kiss Nathan's forehead, and then she spoke a blessing,

"May the Lord bless you, and keep under his love and protection for all the days you must remain here on earth."

Nathan

"Thank you, Bright One," Nathan whispered. "It means much to me that you do this. I can't wait to meet you again, and sleep forever."

Emily

Emily smiled sadly. It was not fair that all these children were forced to suffer so much. SHe wished she could tell them the bad things in store for them, but it was forbidden.

"I want you to remember something, child. The Lord Jehovah will never let you go through more than you can survive. He will not give you more than you can handle today, or any other day," she said as they walked into the school.

Mordred and Vortigern

Spike was talking with Mordred and Vortigern, when he felt Emily enter the school. His gameface slipped on without him thinking about it.

"Spike, what's wrong?" Vortigern asked anxiously. Spike in gameface was not a good thing.

"An angel. Inside." He turned around, nostrils flaring.

"Aren't angels good?" Mordred asked. Spike laughed bitterly.

"Nah, they're just cringing bootlickers." He blinked yellow eyes. "And this isn't one of the rank and file neither. This is a strong one."

Emily

Emily saw Spike and looked confused.

"William. I remember when I took your soul. How did you manage to get it back? I knew that Liam had his returned, but when did yours come back to you?"

Vortigern

Spike snarled at her and started backing away, holding Vortigern behind him. "None of your bloody business, wings!"

"Ok, I'm sensing hostility..." Vortigern said.

Emily

Emily sighed. "Okay, William, just back down. I'm one of the good guys, remember. And I am your elder. I also have authority over you, so you had better rein it in. Now," the beautiful young girl was not a force to be reckoned with, and Spike knew it. He bowed his head and backed down.

"Sorry," he mumbled.

Mordred and Vortigern

"Ok, not liking her," Mordred said firmly. Bitch.

You said it. Grr, how dare she speak to Spike that way?

He was being kinda nasty too.

Bite me. I don't have to be rational with the people I love.

Isn't that Spike's job? The biting, I mean?

I swear, you are in for so much pain...

I'm shaking, here. Really.

What made you think I was going to do it? I'll just get *Spike* to do it.

Ok, a bit more worried now. Vortigern laughed. "You should be."

"You're picking up some of Spike's nastier habits." Vortigern grinned.
