Mouse
Mouse sighed and rubbed her eyes. Now Diana knew...she wanted to tell at least some of the family on her own terms. She sat up on the bed and decided to go talk to Zac. She went down to the basement, knocking first. "Zac? It's Mouse. Can I talk to you?"
Zac
"Sure," Zac called in reply.
Zac was lying on his bed with his legs stretched up against the wall. He was reading a comic book.
Mouse
Mouse opened the door and went in. Her eyes widened momentarily as she saw Ike as well. "Hey." She rubbed her forehead and sighed. Might as well tell him as well. She'd been planning to. She'd do this on her terms, *not* Diana's. "How you been?" She came in and sat down on Zac's bed, smiling at him and Ike.
Isaac and Zac
"I've been good," Isaac replied.
He had been reading one of Zac's comic books.
"Same," Zac agreed. "And what about you Mousey?"
Mouse
"Been better," Mouse said honestly. She leant back against the wall, wondering if she should just come straight out and say it. The descion was put off for a bit when Fafnir nudged his head around the door.
Pack?
"'M right here. I'm fine." Fafnir just sighed heavily and made his way into the room to lay on the floor at her feet. "They're all edgy..."
Zac and Isaac
"That's good," Zac said.
"Hi Fafnir," Isaac greeted.
"So, this a social visit or did you want something?" Zac asked. "Not that I mind if it's just a social call."
Mouse
"I don't want anything, I need to tell you something." Mouse closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them as she breathed deeply. "God, this is hard."
Just tell them.
"Ok. I'm pregnant, but not to Taylor." She took in the shocked looks on their faces. "I've also never had sex. The Quantico thing is going to have long and far reaching effects. Diana guessed that I was pregnant...and I wanted to tell you on my own terms, if that makes sense." Mouse sighed. "She didn't take it well, and I'm not sure if she believes me." She pressed a heel of her hand into her eye, willing back the tears.
Isaac and Zac
"Wow, everyone's getting pregnant," Zac said, shaking his head. "Julie. Julie's doctor just had her baby the other day. The Summers' at Proffessor Xavier's are expecting, umm who else?"
"Miette's mom," Isaac said, and continued with a strong note of concern. "Well, I don't know whether to congratulate you or not, Mouse. It must be... to know that you were abused in this manner, I mean, it's basically rape, virginity intact or not. You planning on keeping the baby?"
Mouse
"Can't kill something you can hear, talk to..." A small smile curved her lips. "And it's not one, it's three."
^Motherlovelovelove.^ ^Father?Motherwhere?^ ^Warmthloveloveheartbeatbeatbeat.^ ^Lovelovelove.^
"But I was going to keep them before that."
Isaac and Zac
"Three?" Zac gaped.
"I wasn't suggesting abortion, although some people consider that an option," Isaac said. "You could have been planning adoption."
"Three?" Zac repeated, blinking.
"What does Tay think? I assume you've told him."
"Three!"
MOuse
"Yeah, he knows." Mouse tilted her head slightly. "He was the first...actually, Bets was the first to know. Apparently pregnant women smell different. And yes Zac, three." A corner of her mouth quirked up in a grin.
Considering wolves often have five or more, I don't see what three is to get all excited about...
"Shh, you. It's different for people as compared to wolves." She looked down at Fafnir for a moment, then looked back up again. "They're mine and I'm keeping them. I've already threatened your mother with death, so please don't make me use the same on you. Pack is Pack, no matter how they get there. They're mine."
Isaac and Zac
Isaac held up his hands.
"I was just asking," he said. "I'm not trying to tell you what to do or anything. No need to get riled up."
"I can understand why she would," Zac said. "Mom grinds my nerves too."
"Ugh, I am not having this discussion again. I swear I keep seeing everything in double. You guys complain. Mom complains. You know what she said to me the other day? 'Sometimes I wish I had stopped at one'. Now I ask you, what kind of thing is that to say to your oldest child? I swear, this Verizik diease is... I don't like the way it's affecting her. Apparently it just effects powers, but I suppose being an empath it..." Isaac sighed and shook his head. "Anyway, moving right along. I guess congratulations are in order then, Mouse. So, congratulations."
Mouse
"Thank you, Ike." Mouse smiled. "And I don't even know where she's coming from anymore. I'm just going for the stay away approach."
And if she hadn't've threatened, you wouldn't have reacted that way.
Quite. "It's just...felt like she blamed me for it, is all."
Isaac and Zac
"Well, enough about Mom," Zac said. "Triplets, huh? I didn't know you could tell this soon. Boys or girls? Or both?"
"I bet not knowing what Julie's having is driving you nuts," Isaac teased.
"It is not."
"Sure."
Mouse
Mouse snickered. "Three, that's all we can get out of them. And it's really kinda early to know what sex they are. They are just the three." She shrugged, lookinh worried. "And what they are, we don't know. That's the scariest thing."
Isaac and Zac
"Oooh," Zac said. "Now that should be... interesting. Human, mutant or alien. Or maybe... something else."
"Zac, I don't think you're helping," Isaac said. "Hang on? That's all you can get out of them? What? Can you talk to them or something?"
Mouse
"Thank you for once more adding to my fears about my children, Zac sweetie." She looked at Ike. "It's weird but me and Tay...we can hear them. Well, he can ehar them if they shout and now I know what I'm listening for, I can hear them too."
Isaac and Zac
"Weird," Isaac agreed.
"Heh, sorry," Zac replied. "But with you as their mom, I'll sure they'll turn out fine."
Mouse
That's what I said. Fafnir said from his place on the floor. They just don't have a choice.
"Thanks, Zac." Mouse smiled at him. "Anyway, serious talking all over. How's Faith? Haven't seen her since...well. Since she got better. She rang, we talked, mostly fine now. How is she?"
Isaac and Zac
"Faith is good," Zac replied. "Good all round."
"And you just leave it right there," Isaac laughed. "I know how your mind works, Zac."
"Do you?"
"Yep."
"You sure?"
"Yep."
"Positive?"
"Zac?"
"What?"
"Knock it off."
"Knock what off?"
Isaac groaned and looked at Mouse.
"See what I have to put up with?"
Mouse
Mouse's face was slightly wistful as she watched them goof around with each other. "I don't know how you do," she said dryly. "And this is nothing. Wait until you're talking to the two of them online. Together. It's very, very wrong. My poor innocent mind."
Isaac and Zac
"It's not so innocent any more, huh?" Zac said mischeviously.
Isaac shook his head.
"You corrupted the poor girl! Can't you see she has enough on her plate? Shame on you!"
MOuse
Mouse giggled. "You two are crazy."
And you figured this out when? Fafnir said testily beneath her feet. She laughed a bit harder.
Isaac and Zac
"I'm not crazy. I'm insane," Zac said. "Ike's the crazy one."
"Uh huh, that's riiiiiight..." Isaac replied, nodding slowly. "Oh by the way Zac, I ordered that special jacket for you. You know, the one that makes it impossible to do anything constructive with your arms unless you dislocate them."
Mouse
"Oh, don't. He;d just get ideas," Mouse said. "Bad Zac!"
Bad Slayer is more like it. Mouse kicked him. Ow!
"Hush, you."
Isaac and Zac
Isaac gave Mouse a worried look.
"He really has corrupted you huh? I didn't consider a straight jacket, erm, in that particular light."
"What? As a sex toy?" Zac smirked.
"Yeah, that... oh damn... Zac's having ideas."
Zac laughed evilly.
Mouse
"Zac, we just don't wanna know. So, whatever ideas you have, please, just keep them to yourself. Or tell Faith, she'd want to know. We, however, just don't." Mouse smiled.
Isaac and Zac
Zac grinned wickedly.
"You naughty boy," Isaac said. "Behave."
"Okay I will. Badly."
Isaac shook his head.
"Anyway, moving right along."
Mouse
"Zac's being ba-ad," Mouse singsonged quietly. "But as Ike says, let's move this along. Get the mind out of the gutter. You're still a cat on heat."
Isaac and Zac
"Yeah Zac," Isaac agreed. "Having your mind in the gutter all the time is why we have just big dry cleaning bills."
"Aww, sorry," Zac grinned.
"How's Fanfir?" Isaac asked, looking at the wolf and kneeling down to his level.
Mouse
Fafnir heaved a sighed, his head down on his paws. Tired. Gaurding with only two of us is hard.
"He says tired. It's hard to gaurd when the Pack is only two."
Thanks for asking.
"He says thanks for asking," Mouse translated.
The other one's a bit of idiot, but you helped Mouse when I couldn't. I don't think I ever said thanks. Fafnir lifted his head and carefully licked Ike on the cheek. You shed blood for the Pack.
"And thanks for the time when you got a knife stuck in your leg to help me when he couldn't." Mouse looked at Ike. "I don't think I ever said thanks either. It all kinda got all tangled and crazy after that."
Isaac and Zac
Isaac nodded.
"Family - Pack - is very important," he said. "I would do anything to protect mine, and if that means knife in my leg, then so be it."
"Ahh, the evernoble Isaac. Makes me wonder why you don't have a girlfriend. Don't chicks dig the heroic type?" Zac asked teasingly.
MOuse
"Don't be nasty. Yay for us that we've found someone. Ike will as well. Sometime. Someone who just likes Ike, not Isaac Hanson the guy who's part of a famous band." Mouse smiled gently. "You will. Someone who sees you as a person in your own right, instead of part of something that really doesn't matter all that much when you get down to it."
Isaac and Zac
"Thank you Mouse," Isaac said with a smile.
"Aww, Ike knows I'm just teasing," Zac pointed out. "If he doesn't he has problems, considering he's known me all my life."
MOuse
"Zac, you have a mouth problem. It opens, but there's no thought behind it." Mouse leant her chin on her hand.
Isaac and Zac
Isaac laughed.
"Yeah, well, at least I don't have a -" Zac began.
"Zac, I'm sure none of us want to hear the end of that sentance," ISaac cut in.
Zac grinned evilly.
Mouse
"As I said, little or no thought behind the things you say. It's a sad trait that you really should have looked at. A sympton of Foot in Mouth disease, I should think." Fafnir decided at the moment to growl at Zac. Just because of the tone of his voice. Mouse frowned. "Stop that."
I still don't trust him. Again. I'm worried, you know that.
Doesn't excuse rude behaviour.
I just...what if they come back? Mouse's face blanched.
"Don't even say that out loud. Bad things happen when you speak them. I bet you've jinxed us now, wolf."
Isaac and Zac
"You know what?" Zac said, looking at Fafnir. "I'm getting the impression Fafnir doesn't like me."
"Don't worry Mouse," Isaac said, ignoring Zac. "I'm sure nothing else bad is going to happen."
Mouse
"And don't say *that* either! You want the fates to decide to hex us? And it's because you smell like Faith. When she was being all...evil. She came over and tried to get me to kill her and threatened me. They really aren't cool with it yet, even though Faith and I have have made up. I did try to shoot her, after all." Mouse smiled wryly.
Isaac and Zac
Isaac gave Mouse and interested look.
"I had no idea you were into superstition," he said.
"I smell of Faith?" Zac asked eagerly. "Well, well, how fun."
Mouse
"Not so far into it, really. But hey, looking at what is actually around I'm learning not to scoff." Mouse shrugged and tapped the spot where Bastet had placed the Claiming mark on her skin. "Remember, Claimed by a Egyptian goddess here. And then there's all the other side of it too."
Isaac and Zac
Isaac shrugged.
"Gotta draw the line somewhere."
"What other side?" Zac asked, with a sigh. "No one ever tells me anything."
Mouse
"I stayed a while in N'awlins, and trust me, you don't come out of the bayeaus without knowing some of the darker side of magic." Mouse's eyes went a bit distant, thinking of the sound of slow drums and the terrified cackle of a black rooster, or the bleat of a black goat. "Gris-gris and ju-jus, and the Loa..."
I'm glad I haven't had to go there. I'd probably die of heat exhaustion.
You probably would. Your fur's too thick.
Isaac and Zac
"Ohhhh... that otherside," sad Zac. "Okay."
Isaac shook his head.
"He's happy now," he grinned.
Mouse
"Now he's had everything explained to him." Mouse grinned and then stood up. "Anyway, I'll go. I have tricky school stuff to do." Fafnir got to his feet as well and they walked out. "See you two later."
Isaac and Zac
"Okay, see ya Mousey," Zac waved.
"We'll talk again soon," Isaac added as Mouse and Fafnir left the room. "Have fun with the school work!"
