Faith and Xander
Faith knocked on Xander's door tentatively. He'd told her she didn't need to apologise, but she had to. It didn't seem right that she was getting away with what she did. Xander opened the door and gave her a tiny smile.
"Come in."
"Thanks." Faith stepped into his house and they went into the living room and both sat down.
"So, what's up, you want to train or anything?" Xander asked.
Faith fiddled with the edge of one of the cushions on the seat. "Xand... I know you said I didn't have to, but I'm..."
"Faith, you don't have to say it, I know."
"But I'm sorry."
"And I forgive you."
"But why? Xander, I don't understand how. I did all this horrible stuff to you... and I killed again, and I enjoyed it. I remember enjoying it, Xand, and I'm so scared. I thought it was all behind me, but now, now I'm not sure if I really have changed. Maybe the killer, that's me, and this person now, is just a front."
"I forgive you because I know that you're a good person. You've had a bad break in life, and you made some not so wise decisions, and I know that what happened before... that wasn't you."
Faith nodded at the crossbow hanging on Xander's wall. "If it happens again... I want you to promise that you'll kill me."
"Faith - "
"No, do it. Because I don't want to be that person... and I'd rather you kill me, then I kill anyone. Promise me." Faith looked at Xander with hopeful eyes and he nodded and kissed her forehead.
"It won't happen again, you know. I know you better that." Xander hugged her and kissed her head again.
"I hope so. I wish I had as much confidence in myself as you do in me."
"It'll be ok. I promise."
Faith smiled at him through her tears, kissed his cheek and got up to leave. She turned at the door. "I'm sorry, Xand." Then she left.
