Isaac and Zac
Isaac was sitting in Zac's room when he woke up.
"Morning," Isaac said.
"Morning," Zac eyed him sleepily. "What?"
"I know you're doing it again."
"Doing what?"
"Sleeping around."
Zac groaned and flopped back down on the bed.
"Shut up."
"Look, I know things are rough between you and Faith right now, but -"
"Keep out of it Ike!"
"No, not this time. Y'know what? In the midst of my attempting to get rid of Isis, I found out something rather interesting. Zada really is pregnant. That's two girls in one year, Zac. Well, a bit over because Julie's due next month so that would mean it was December, but that's not the point. The point is, I think our family is proof enough of just how fertile Dathrians are -"
"Shut up Ike! Just leave me the hell alone."
"No," Isaac replied sternly. "You can't go on like this, Zac. You need to get a grip. Damn it, it would almost be easier if you were on drugs. At least then we would have something to work with. But, you, Zac, are a sex addict."
"I am not."
"Oh really? You'll excuse me if I don't believe you."
"Go away."
"I'm not going to see you destroy your own life, Zac. You're this far away," and Isaac held his thumb and index finger about an inch apart, "from the point of no return."
"The point of no return? No return from what?"
"You keep going on this way and you will never have a meaningful relationship. Ever. You won't even stop at parties. You'll be doing fans, maybe even hookers. But what worries me most Zac, is that you're going to stop being respectful when girl says she doesn't want to go that far, and coerse her. You'll be just like Jess's ex."
Zac glared at him.
"I will not!"
"Then stop it Zac! I swear, if you don't stop it on your own, I'll share a room with you again. I'll become your own personal shadow if I have to. And hey, worst comes to worst I will even ask Avery to make you think that -"
"You wouldn't dare."
"I would."
"I don't believe you."
"Try me."
"No thanks, I don't swing that way."
"Very funny."
"I thought so."
"I'm serious, Zac."
"Really? I thought you were Isaac."
Isaac telekinetically threw Zac against the wall.
"Hey!" Zac objected.
"I don't care if you get so horny the build up of testosterone makes you explode. It ends now."
And Isaac left.
Julie and Zac
Julie picked up the ringing phone.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Julie?"
"Zac?" Julie gasped, then quickly lowered her voice. "You are so lucky I was the one who picked up the phone. If it had been Dad..."
"I don't care. I had to talk to you."
"About what?"
"Do you think I'm a sex addict?" Zac rushed on. "It's just that... well... I've been sleeping around a lot lately... even more than when you and I... well, y'know... and Ike seems to think so. He just completely blew up at me this morning."
Julie was silent.
"Julie?"
"Yeah, I'm here, I... I really can't say. We haven't even lived in the same state for the past few months."
"I just... I don't know what to do. See I was... I was seeing this woman... Her name's Faith. Man... I love her so much. But see... the other day... she said she wanted to go back to just sex. And I... I love her! I can't just... she doesn't... I don't know... I couldn't stay in that relationship knowing that... that..."
"It's like going back to home brand chocolate ice cream after tasting Sara Lee chocolate ice cream?"
"Exactly. And ever since I've been, well, sleeping around. With anyone, well, any woman, who wanted to."
"Well... if you want my opinion - and I'm assuming you do otherwise you wouldn't have called me - I think maybe you want your Sara Lee ice cream again, and it doesn't have to be chocolate just as long as it's that brand. But you keep getting the cheap, nowhere near as good stuff. So maybe you should up your budget and go shopping somewhere else."
Zac was silent for a moment. Then burst out laughing.
"Only you could come up with a relationship analogy about ice cream."
"Well, it was either that or computers," Julie giggled. "Lemme see, you've gotten used to the Pentium 4, 2.4 Ghz but somehow you ended up getting a pathetic Pentium 2. And let's face it, Pentium 2s are so end of line, you're into minus numbers. You have to stop trading second hand goods and save up for the good stuff. I'm thinking, Pentium 4, 3.2Ghz. They're just starting on those now. I so want one."
"Ha ha, I'm sure you do. How's... how's the baby?"
"Oh good. I can't believe I only have one more month to go."
They chatted a little longer before hanging up.
