"A silouette. On the horizon. Walking towards me. Staggering more like. Its getting bigger...darker...badder. I can hear it's breathing...snarling. Its eyes are glowing a bright red. Blood red. I can start to make it out & then I wake up." Dani said staring into the distance while retelling her dream. Once told, she snapped out of her daze & looked at Forge.
He was the only person she considered seeing about this dream. It wasn't the first dream she's had like this. She was sure it wouldn't be the last. Forge was like her, a Native American Indian. He was also a mutant. She shared a lot in common with him just by blood alone. Besides being these two things, he was also knowledgable in mystics, especially Cheyenne.
Forge scwinted his eyes & started rubbing his chin. He had gone into deep thought mode. After a few minutes of thinking, he stood up & started walking.
He stopped & turned back to look at the still seated Dani. "Walk with me Dani" he said & turned back around & continued walking. Dani ran up to catch him.
"I have a hunch Dani but I'm not sure if I should tell you." he stated calmly.
"Why not?" Dani asked curiously.
"Because it is an ancient myth that only us mystics know about." he replied, stopping & looking at Dani.
"I may not be a mystic Sir, but I am trustful & it will remain a secret. Please tell me. I feel like I should know what it is that's haunting my dreams." Dani said, almost pleading. The figure in her thought's & dream's scared her & she wanted to know how to make it stop.
Forge looked at the expression on the girls face. She seemed so mature & determined. But he saw something else as well. He could sense her soul. Her abilities & skills, not as a person but as a Cheyenne Mystic. Just like his mentor, Naze did with him.
"Okay Dani. I'll tell you. But this is between you and me." he said, looking around to see if anyone could overhear. He looked back at her & she nodded.
He took a deep breath & started to reveal what he thought was plagueing her dreams.
While Forge explained to Dani, Doug, Rahne & Sam were sitting on the grass outside, talking about the new romance between Rahne & Doug.
"It's good to see you two are finally together though." Sam said with a huge grin.
"Yeah, it is!" Rahne said with a giggle.
"Although," Sam started, "Rahne could get so much better!"
Doug looked at Sam to see a huge grin on his face.
"Is that right?" Doug said laughing, & stood up & jumped at Sam.
Just before Doug could land on him, Sam thrust himself away from Doug with the use of his power. Doug landed hard on the ground & glared at Sam.
"I'm gonna get you so bad!" he said through gritted teeth.
"Come on then!" Sam said confidently, raising his arms in the air as if to say "come & get me".
Doug jumped up & ran after Sam as Rahne just sat & laughed. As Sam led Doug away, a good looking blonde girl sat down next to Rahne. Rahne turned to see it was Allison Crestmire, one of Monet's friend's. Rahne turned back around to watch what Sam & Doug were doing.
"What do you want?" she asked bitterly.
"I wanted to warn you." she said in her english accent.
"What?!" Rahne exclaimed, spinning to look at her.
"He's a jerk!" Allison said, looking Rahne in the eyes.
Rahne was taken aback. She thought Allison was going to talk about something else, not "him".
"Who?" Rahne asked confused, "Doug?"
"Yeah" Allison replied, looking to see where Sam & Doug were. They were far away, Doug jumping up, trying to grab the hovering Sam. "Did you know Doug & I dated at one stage?"
Rahne was shocked. "No!"
"Well, we did. When I first came here, we dated for a few months. He was so sweet & nice. But then he turned into a real bastard." Allison said this, looking down with a face full of sadness & regret.
Rahne couldn't believe what she was hearing. She couldn't believe she wouldn't know.
"And I know we've had our differences, you & your friends, me & mine, but I don't want to see you hurt." Allison continued, "I don't want anyone hurt."
Allison looked over to see Sam was flying back towards them with Doug looking at the two girls confused, as he followed.
"I'll go now. Just be careful okay Rahne." she said & stood up & walked away. A few moments later, Sam touched down onto the ground next to Rahne, Doug arriving a few seconds later.
"What did she want?" Doug asked.
"Nothing" Rahne said, looking toward the ground, "Nothing at all."
Back with Forge, Dani had just been told off what Forge was now sure was haunting her.
"I can't be sure Dani. I'll contact someone I know & hopefully he can help me out a bit more. But I'm pretty sure." Forge said with a frown on his face,
"Oh...Okay, cool, thank you." she replied. He stopped & so did she, turning to face him.
"Dani, this is a warning. The creature is evil. Don't attempt to communicate with it in your thoughts or anyway. Are we clear?" Forge asked with an intense look in his eyes.
"Yes...I understand." Dani replied with a nod.
"I'll go contact my friend now Dani. You be safe okay?" Forge asked putting his hand on her shoulder.
"I will" she replied. He nodded & walked towards the mansion. Dani sat down & started to take in all she had just heard about the "Demon Bear".
Epilogue:
"Hello? Elizabeth, Hi it's Forge. Is your father there please? Its important I talk to him." Forge said to the voice on the other end of the line.
"He's busy..." she replied but was cut off by Forge.
"It's about the Demon Bear!" Forge said, raising his voice over hers.
The girl on the other end dropped the phone & then realised what she had done. She picked it back up and said to Forge "I'll go get him."
