Isaac and Zac
The Hansons were holding a huge party in celebration of Independance day. But for once Zac was too depressed to get excited.
"Zac... I have one word for you," Isaac said in an effort to chere him up. "Fire works."
Zac looked at him, blank faced.
"Big explosions."
He twitched.
"Loud noises."
He chewed his lip.
"Kaboom!"
"Mmmmmm okay you've got me! When does it start? Can I do the first one?"
Isaac grinned in triumph.
"Let's find out."
Avery
Avery ran to Zac when he came upstairs and jumped into his arms.
"Fireworks, Zac!"
She kissed his cheek.
Mouse
Mouse crept down the stairs, eyes flickering nervously from side to side. She tried to smile at the people downstairs, the fading burn marks on her arm showing redly. "Fireworks, yay. Just remind me to send Faf and Bets far away."
Zac and Isaac
"Yeah, fireworks," Zac grinned at his sister.
Isaac was relieved. Ever since he had heard that message from Faith on his voice mail from Faith he had gone into another slump. Hopefully this wouldn't last long, because it didn't sound like there was going to be any resolving this any time soon.
If at all.
"Hey Mouse!" Isaac greeted.
Avery
Avery hugged Zac then jumped down from his arms and went over to Mouse and hugged her gently.
"Hi Mouse."
MOuse
Mouse's smile became more real as she hugged the girl back. "Hey you. Independence Day, huh? Where does the time go?"
Taylor
"Into the past," Taylor grinned, coming down the stairs.
He made his way over to his girlfriend and put his arms around her from behind. Then he kissed her neck.
MOuse
"Well, that would be obvious," Mouse said as she relaxed into his arms. It was more or less the only place she felt a modicum of safety anymore. "How are you today, mon cher?"
Taylor
"Happy now I'm with my angel," Taylor grinned, leaning his chin on her shoulder and swaying her.
"The fuzzles are all in bed already. Flavian knows what to do when there's going to be fireworks," he chuckled, "not his favourite time of year."
MOuse
"I think Faf and Bets are cowering in the basement. Not that they'd express it that way, but that's what it comes down to. Cowering. Kinds sad, really, that they could kill you but they're afraid of loud bangs and bright colours. Or as Fafnir so loudly reminded me this morning, they hurt his ears. He's not afraid at all." Mouse smirked slightly.
Zac and Isaac
"Kaboom!" Zac shouted as the fireworks went off.
Isaac grinned and lit one himself. Then he noticed someone.
"Grant! Hey man, how are you?"
The silent sonic grinned and waved.
"Wanna light one?"
He grinned wider.
Mouse
Mouse flinched almost imperceptibly. She had to admit they were pretty, the fireworks, but not reassuring. She watched the sparks flicker down to the earth and smiled at the evident pleasure on Avery's and Mackie's faces. "Pretty cool."
Taylor
"Hey Grant! Long time no see," Taylor grinned, waving at him, "haven't seen you since... the tournament."
He chuckled, finally letting Mouse go and putting his arm around her waist instead.
Mouse
"Hey. Name's Mouse." Mouse nodded at the guy. "Don't think we've met."
Isaac and Zac
"This is our friend Grant," Isaac said to Mouse. "He doesn't talk. His power is sonics and it's a little...haywire. He was in an accident a few years ago, so yeah... emitting sound is a bad idea."
"Unless you're getting chased by alien hunters, huh Grant?" Zac grinned. "Very effective way of dealing with them."
Grant gave a small smile. Zac lit some more fire works and cheered when they exploded.
Jessica and Adamt
Jess bopped into the room, with a big smile on her face. She wasn't sure exactly what was up, but she was genuinely happy for the first time in years. She kissed Adam on the cheek and the skipped over the her brothers, pulling him along.
"Hey Tigger!" she said in a very perky voice, throwing her arms around Zac's neck and kissing him on the cheek.
Zac
Zac lifted up Jessica in the air with one arm wrapped around her.
"Hi Roo!" He grinned. "Loooooook... big exploding things."
