3 July 2003 - Different

Faith and Xander

Faith sat on the couch, balancing the tip of her knife on her finger. It fell and she picked it up from her lap and threw it at the target above the TV. Her phone rang and she looked at it for a few seconds being groaning and picking it up.

"Talk to me."

Xander's voice came over the line. "Hey, Faith."

"Yeah, that's me."

"Wanna train today?"

"Nope. Bye!" She hung up before he could respond and put her phone down. And it rang again. She picked it up and hurled it out the window.

"There, no more annoyingness." Faith lay back on the couch and reached over for a magazine, flicking through it noisily.

Zac

Zac pulled up at Faith's house and rang the bell. He decided he wanted to surprise her, and had a rather large box not so neatly hidden behind his back.

Faith

Faith looked up at the door. Dammit, those things should answer themselves. She got up off the couch, grabbed her knife and headed over to the door, her hair messily falling in front of her face. She raised the knife and pulled the door open, then lowered it when she saw who it was.

"Hi."

Zac

"Hi, Faithy," Zac said cheerfully.

Then he noticed the knife.

"Expecting trouble?"

Faith

Faith shrugged.

"Not really, always gotta be on guard. Plus, I like it."

She stepped back and opened the door, letting him walk in.

Zac

Zac raised an eyeborw, but said nothing and walked inside.

"I have something for you..."

He pulled the box out from behind his back and held it out.

Faith

Faith took the box from him and opened it to see flowers.

"Awww. Ain't you a cutie? I'll hold on to you." She winked and put the flowers down on the table. "Right, the whole vase thing." Faith explored her kitchen for a second before finding a vase and filling it with water. She put the flowers in carelessly and joined Zac in the living room.

Zac

Zac watched Faith curiously.

"Are you okay?" he asked. "You're acting a little... weird."

Faith

"Yeah, Piper said that too last night."

Faith grinned, remembering the events.

"Kicked some chicks ass into the ground... but you know, i feel better than I have in a long time."

Zac

Zac stared at her even harder.

"Okay," he said finally. "Zada when will you get it through your thick head, that a, I'm not interested and b, Faith and I are not going to break up?"

Faith

Faith stared back at Zac like he was insane.

"What? I'm not Zada. That's just... insulting. Someone should remove that girl from the world. Hmm, that's a good idea, actually."

Zac

Zac frowned.

"If you're really Faith... then you should be able to tell me the last time we had sex, where we did it and how many times."

Faith

"We're checking for Faith, not a concussion."

Faith rolled her eyes.

"Alright... um... the last night you stayed here... so the 27th? And we did it... about 6 times, and we even cracked the collar out again. Happy?"

Zac

Zac looked concerned.

"I'm sorry Faith," he said. "You're just... there's something different about you at the moment."

He stood up and touched her face.

"Sorry," he said again, and then he kissed her gently.

Faith

Faith kissed Zac back and leaned against him. She could feel inside her mind, something was happening, and thoughts were creeping back into her head. She needed to hurt something.

"Nothing to be sorry about. Now, was this a social call? Coz if so... shouldn't we get... you know, sociable?"

Zac

Zac grinned mischeviously.

"Sounds good to me," he said.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed his lips against hers. One hand started exploring under the back of her shirt.

Faith

Faith pulled her shirt off and climbed on top of Zac. They... well, you know. At least... you should know. They do it often enough. Ah, yes... that.

They finished (shocking), and Faith climbed of Zac again.

"Well that was fun."

Zac

"Wow..." said Zac, rubbing his shoulder. "You were feeling violent today."

He stretched and then noticed something.

"Hey... is that blood? Wow... when you did your teeth in it's no joking matter huh?"

Faith

Faith shrugged and pulled her shirt back on.

"You know what they say, go hard or go home."

She paused thoughtfully. "Or really, get hard or go home."

Zac

Zac raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, well, as long as you don't start drinking my blood next time. Otherwise I'll have to accuse you of becoming the very think you hunt."

Faith

Faith shrugged. "Hunt, work with... same thing these days."

She stood up and went into the kitchen to get a drink. She came back, and rubbed her head. It felt like there was another person in there, fighting for control.

Zac

"Are you sure you're okay?" Zac asked. "Maybe you need a holiday."

Faith

Faith looked over at Zac and raised her eyebrows.

"A holiday from what? Although, I could use a few days somewhere islandy, with males walking around wearing very little."

Zac

Zac laughed.

"Careful," he grinned. "I might get jealous."

Faith

Faith grinned.

"Well... we'll just have to fix that, won't we?"

She jumped on top of him and kissed him long and hard.

"See, no need to be jealous."

Her home phone started to ring and she rolled her eyes and picked it up. "Xander, if this is you again, I swear I'm going to pull you apart, piece by piece."

"Faith, I think that - "

"No, no and no. I told you. No. Bye now." She hung up and turned back to Zac when she heard the phone ring again, so without looking at the phone, she ripped the phone cord from the wall.

"Ah, that's better."

Zac

Zac laughed.

"You are so stressed," he said. "I think you need to relax. Have you got the spa in yet?"

Faith

Faith grinned.

"As a matter of fact, yes I do have the sap in. It's right over here."

Faith got up and took Zac's hand, leading him to the bathroom.

Zac

"Fun!" Zac said. "Bubbles?"

He ran the taps while he waited for Faith response.

Faith

"Yup."

Faith threw the bubble bath to him and grinned as the spa filled to the right height. She took her clothes off and stepped into it.

Zac

Zac stripped off and got into the spa.

"Ahh, much better," he grinned.

Faith

Faith smiled at him through half open eyes. She put her arms behind her head and relaxed slightly.

"How's the bite mark?" she asked, raising an eyebrow and licking her lips cheekily.

Zac

"Hmm... water stings a little, but otherwise fine," he raised an eyebrow. "You shouldn't have to do that yourself. I'll lick your lips for you."

And he leant over to do just that.

Faith

Faith grinned and opened her mouth and bit his tongue lightly. She wrapped her arms around his neck and straddled him.

"You know, I could do anything I wanted to you, and you'd simply beg for more. I could make you scream..."

Zac

"Mmm..." Zac said, kissing her. "Is that a threat or a promise?"

He ran his hands over her body.

Faith

Faith kissed him back and played absently with his hair, then moved her hand down to his bite mark and poked it hard.

"A little bit of both."

Zac

"Just try not to draw any more blood," he said. "Or I might have to do some drawing of blood myself."

He held her tightly against his body and entered his tongue in for a game of tonsil hockey.

Faith

"Promise?"

Faith kissed Zac back, trying to get as far down his throat as she could. She tightened her arms around his neck, then pulled away.

Zac

So, she wanted to play it rough. Well, this time he was ready for it. He pushed them both down under the water and yes, well, there no need to go into details. Not much you can do when you only have so much time before you need to breathe... but anyway...

Faith

Faith resurfaced breathing heavily. She wiped the water from her eyes and grinned across at Zac.

"That was good."

Zac

Zac grinned at her with roaming hands.

"Again?"

Faith

Faith straddled him and ground against his lap.

She kissed him again, and they did it. You know. It. Again. Don't they get tired? Apparently not...

They finished up and Faith shivered slightly.

"Water's getting a bit cold, lover."

Zac

Zac used his power on the water, not for a moment, stopping in his persuit of, erm... sexual playing.

"Better?" he asked as it heated up.

Faith

Faith grinned.

"Yep. You know, the relationship thing is overrated. Why don't we go back to just sex?"

Zac

Zac shrugged.

"I dunno... the relationship part does have its quirks."

Faith

Faith kissed Zac again.

"Hmm, maybe. Up to you, offer is always on the table, you know?"

Zac

Zac stared at Faith, deeply into her eyes. There was no denying the hurt in his.

"So... you just... you just want the sex huh? You don't... I love you Faith... but if you don't... I mean... I thought the fact that we loved each other was what made the sex so good..."

Faith

Faith smiled at him and kissed his head.

"Zac, it was a blast. And yeah, I do love you. It's just... I'm not used to the relationship thing. I've never had a relationship that lasted for... well as long as this. but you've stamina, you know?"

Zac

Zac gave her a long kiss, then he pulled away, and started getting out of the spa.

"I think I'm going to go," he said. "I need to think this over... somewhere where I can think. I love you Faith, but I... for once in my life, I am actually looking for something long term, and I..."

He shook his head and used his power to heat the excess water on his body to evapouration point before getting dressed.

Faith

Faith watched him leave then hopped out of the spa and dried herself off. She got dressed and then went and collapsed on her bed.

Zac

Zac sat in the drivers seat of his van for a long while. Maybe Diana had been right all along. Maybe this had all been a mistake from the beginning.

He felt a huge hole opened up inside him as he drove away.

He wished he never met her.
