27 June 2003 - Missing Zac

Avery

Avery was mindlessly playing the playstation with Mackie. He was winning, as usual, but this time she wasn't concentrating on even trying.

"Ha! Look at that!" Mackie levitated from the ground and sat mid- air, grinning triumphantly.

Avery rolled her eyes. "Wow, you beat me. The one who sucks at games. You must be proud."

Mackie lowered himself back down to the ground. "You weren't even trying today!"

"I was thinking of other things." Avery turned the playstation off.

"Like what?"

"I miss Zac."

"So do I. Is he coming home again?" Mackie asked.

"I don't know... Mom's really upset, and yeah."

"Can we go visit him?"

"I don't know how... unless someone takes us. Why don't we call him?" Avery's eyes lit up at the thought of talking to her brother again.

"Yeah!" Mackie levitated again as Avery grabbed the cordless phone. She punched in Zac's number and waited for him to pick up.

Zac

Zac heard his phone ring. He reached into his back pocket and fished it out.

"Home," he said, noting the call on the screen.

He pressed he little green button and held it up to his ear.

"Hello?"

It better not be someone wanting to harass him for moving out.

Avery

Avery pressed the speaker phone button.

"ZAC!" she and Mackie yelled happily.

"Hi Zac, we were missing you... come home and visit us!" Mackie chanted.

Avery giggled. "Hi Zac! Yeah, come visit us!"

Zac

Zac laughed.

"I tell you what," he said. "Give me ten minutes, and I'll take you both out to the movies. How about that?"

Avery

"YAY!" Mackie and Avery cheered and held hands dancing round.

"Ok, we'll see you in ten minutes then!" Avery chirped happily.

"BYE!" they both called and Avery hung up. She and Mackie ran off to get ready and tell someone where they were going.

Avery went into Diana and Walker's room. "Mommy? Zac's coming to take Mack and I to the movies."

Diana nodded and gave her some money. "There, have a good time."

Avery kissed her mom and hugged her. "Thank you, mom."

Zac

True to his word, ten minutes later, Zac arrived at the Hanson house. He had to admit, after living with so many people in the one place so long, it was a little lonesome living in a house with only one other person.

He opened the door.

"Avie! Mackie!" he called.

with m Avery

Avery came running down to Zac and jumped into his arms for a hug.

"ZAC!" She kissed his cheek and hugged him tighter as Mackie came flying down to see him.

He wrapped himself around Zac's feet. "HI!"

Zac

"Aww," said Zac. "I feel so loved."

He hugged Avery back.

"You two ready to go?"

Avery

Mackie and Avery bounced up and down. "Yes!"

They grabbed their jackets and followed Zac from the house.

Zac

Zac opened up the van door for them, and waiting until they got in before closing it and getting into the drivers seat. A few minutes later they were pulling up at the cinema and Zac walked with them inside.

"So, what movie did you want to see?"

Avery

Avery and Mackie both shrugged in unison.

"Something funny," Avery offered, smiling cheesily at her older brother.

Zac

"Hmm, okay," Zac grinned back.

They chose a movie, Zac bought the tickets and then they headed over to the candy bar.

"So, what do you want to eat?"

Avery and Mackie

Mackie jumped up and looked over the counter. "Um... M&M's please!"

Avery peered over. "Just popcorn please Zac. And a water."

Zac

"Okay, popcorn, M&Ms, a water for Avery, I'll have a large Solo and... did you want anything to drink Mackie?" Zac asked.

Avery

"Solo too, thanks!" Mackie bounced happily.

Avery grinned at Mackie. "I'm glad Zac's here."

"Me too."

They smiled at each other and took the stuff from Zac when he handed it to them.

Zac

"Okay then," Zac said.

He ordered their food and drink and then they walked to the actual cinemas. Their tickets were checked, and they walked in.

"Where shall we sit?"

Avery

Mackie selected three seats in the middle and they made their way there. Avery made sure Zac was sitting in the middle, and she leaned against his shoulder.

Zac

Zac smiled at Avery's having put her head on his shoulder. Soon the movie started. There was a great deal of laughing, just as requested.

It felt like the movie was over too soon.

Avery

They left the cinema, Avery holding Zac's hand tightly, not wanting this day to be over. It wasn't fair that she was losing her older brother. She sniffed back some tears and looked up at Zac and smiled.

"Are you ever coming back? I don't like not seeing you're grumpy face every morning."

Zac

"I want to," Zac replied.

He sighed as he walked with them over to the van.

"I miss seeing you guys too. But I don't like fighting with Mom all the time about Faith."

Avery

"Just for the record, I like Faith." Avery smiled at him again as they hopped into the van. She waited until he was in the van with them. "She saved me, and I always look kindly upon people who rescue me."

Mackie chuckled. "Yeah, and she's pretty."

Avery rolled her eyes. "Mom and you will work it out, please do it quickly though..."

Zac

"I'm trying," Zac replied. "But she doesn't want to listen to me."

Zac unlocked the van.

"I want to work this all out soon, too."

Avery

"Why don't you try now? When we get home? Mom's really upset, will you please try again when we get home? Please, for meeeee?" Avery asked.

"For us!" Mackie chimed in.

Zac

Zac started driving home.

"I'll try. But I make no promises," Zac told them.

Avery

"As long as you try, that's all we ask."

They arrived home and Avery and Mackenzie bounded out of the car. They waited patiently for Zac to come inside with them.

Zac and Isaac

Zac followed his younger siblings inside.

"Hey Zac!" Isaac greeted. "Wanna practice?"

"Sure. But first I want to talk to Mom."

Isaac nodded.

"Okay. She's in the kitchen I think."

"Okay. Thanks. I'll meet you in the rec room," and Zac headed to the kitchen. "Mom?"

Avery

Mackie headed off to his room while Avery followed Ike into the rec room.

Diana looked up as Zac entered the room. She smiled.

"Zac... hi."

Zac

"Look, Mom, I know you don't like Faith. But I... I don't like us fighting all the time about her, and I'm not going to break up with her just because you don't approve," Zac said.

Inside he was begging her to listen to him.

Diana

Diana nodded, and gestured for him to sit down.

"Zac... I'm not asking you to break up with her. I'm asking you to just loook at her, really look and decide if she's really the right person for you. She just... look at all these problems that are occurring between us because of her."

Zac

Zac groaned.

"Mom, the only reason why we're having problems is because you don't like Faith, and I don't think you trust me either. It's all you! Can't you just -" He cut himself off and sighed. "Mom? Can't we just agree to disagree?"

Diana

Diana reached out for Zac.

"Zac, honey... I trust you, it's... alright, we'll agree to disagree, but can you promise me that you'll think about coming home now?"

Zac and Isaac

Zac was silent.

"Yes I can do that," he said at last. "Anyway, Ike wants us to practice now. Bye, Mom."

Zac left the room and headed into the rec room.

"How'd it go?" Isaac asked, seeing Zac enter.

"Good. Sorta. We've agreed to disagree. Which is a start."

"Great."

Avery

Avery was playing her harmonica when Zac walked in. She stopped when she saw him.

"Well, you talked to her and that's all I really wanted. Well, I want you to come back home, but that's not the point. Anyway, I'm babbling, so I'l gonna just sit over here and watch the practice."

Avery moved to another lounge and lay on it, throwing her harmonica up and down and catching it.

Zac

Zac grinned and ruffled AVery's hair.

"Let's get started then."
