Faith and Pete
Faith awoke, feeling groggy and noticing she was still on the couch. She picked up the remote and switched the TV off and sat up slowly.
"Ugh, what time is it?" she checked her watch. 7am.
Faith groaned and stood up. She went into her room where Zac was still sleeping and grabbed her sweat pants, a singlet and underwear. She changed into the clothes and tied her hair up messily. She jammed her feet into sneakers and left the house to go for a run. She had just reached the end of her street when she saw a familiar figure walking around.
"Oh great," she mumbled under her breath.
Pete looked up and saw Faith. He grinned uncertainly. He had stayed at Chris's house and was heading home when he decided to take a detour to Faith's. It was early, but he didn't care. He wanted to see her again. His smile widened as he approached her.
"Faith!"
"Pete." Faith started to leave.
"Wait. Please. What have I done?"
Faith stopped and looked puzzled. "I don't know, what have you done?"
"Well, I just mean, we had a good night. At least I thought we did, but then you... you were all - "
"Ah." Faith shook her head. "Listen kid, you were... I have a boyfriend. And he's living with me right now, and we'd broken up and I was upset and you... I'm sorry but you were just - "
"A rebound thing?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry."
Pete nodded. "I guess that's... at least we had the night. That's more than I could've hoped for. Listen, Faith... do you think, if boyfriend wasn't in the picture that maybe... well, i would be?"
Faith shook her head. "Not likely. With the exception of him, I don't do the relationship thing."
"What makes him so special?"
Faith smiled. "He's special."
Pete looked away. "Yeah, well, uh..."
"Look... I gotta get going. So..."
"I'll see you around? No, I really won't, will I."
"Afraid not. Bye, kid." Faith watched as Pete left and she continued her run around the block. She ran for about an hour then headed home and went into her makeshift gym to do precision and beam work.
