24 June 2003 - Breaking And Entering

Gwen

Gwen checked her watch. Time to go. She climbed to the top of the building quickly as though she was being pulled up. Once she was on the roof, she ran over to the door, placed her hand on it and sent sparks into it, disabling the alarm system. She pushed the door open and climbed down the stairs until she found the hallway she was looking for.

"Just like old times," Gwen whispered under her breath.

She crept along the hallway, her mind scanning the information she'd been shown. Second top hallway. Check. Third door on the left. Check. Gwen stopped at the right door and looked at the electric code pad. Ha, when would people learn. She raised her hand and short circuited the pad and opened the door carefully. Walking inside she saw what she was looking for. Ah, Pael'n Axis. Ugly looking thing. Gwen scanned the room and noticed the laser alarm system set up. She looked around for the switch and spotted it. She sent a bolt of electricity over and disabled it.

"Like taking candy from a baby."

Gwen walked over and grabbed the Axis and put it into her bag. She grinned and started to leave the room, only to be confronted with three security guards.

"That's ours."

"Take it." Gwen pulled it from the bag handed it over, smiling innocently, knowing she'd be getting it back later anyway.

The guard eyed her suspiciously, and took the Axis.

Gwen jumped up and held the door frame, pistoning her legs out and wrapping them around one of the guards necks. She twisted and broke it, then jumped down and touched another guard. He fell to the ground with a pained groan. Then she turned to the remaining guard and he started to back up, while putting the Axis behind him. Gwen smiled.

"Don't lose that."

She roundhouse kicked him to the side and left, tightening the bag as she ran to the roof, laughing as she heard the guy call out, realising she'd stolen the Axis. She was still giggling as she jumped off the roof, sailing down and grabbing a flag pole which was sticking out from the side. She flipped herself around it and climbed the rest of the way, running to her house.

Gwen opened the door to her apartment as she heard her phone ring. She pulled it out.

"I got it."

"Good. Meet us at the bar. Bring it now."

"Bring my money."

Gwen hung up and went down to the garage. She hopped into her car and drove to the bar they'd asked her to meet her at. She walked in and put the bag onto the table. The guy reached for it and she pulled it back again.

"Nope. Money please."

The guy slid the envelope across the table and she opened it, grinned at the money and tucked it into her shirt. She handed the bag over to him. "Nice doing business with you." Gwen turned around and left the bar, hopped into her car and went back home.

She'd make the trip back to New York tomorrow. Maybe she'd even drive there.
