23 June 2003 - Busted

AJ

AJ grinned as she shut her bedroom door behind her boyfriend, then playfully pushed him down onto the bed.

"Hey you..." she began, leaning over him and bending down to kiss him.

When she pulled away, she chuckled.

"When's your dad getting home?"

Noah

"Don't know, don't actually care."

Noah grinned and pulled her bag down to kiss her again. He rolled over so he was laying on top of AJ and kissed her neck gently.

AJ

"I love you, know that?" she raised her eyebrows with a grin.

She leant up to peck his ear, then his cheek, as her palms reached uder his shirt to explore his chest.

She felt his body shiver from her cold hands and chuckled.

"They're probably at another meeting. Wouldn't be back 'til late."

Then she kissed him again.

NOah

Noah grinned. "Good."

He kissed her neck then moved back up to her lips, while his hands mindlessly played with her hair.

He let one of his hands wander to the bottom of his shirt when suddenly AJ's door opened. Noah looked up suddenly to see two very shocked and now angry looking fathers.

He stifled the urge to chuckle and simply said, "Oops, busted custard."

AJ

AJ gasped and threw Noah off her as her father stormed towards them.

"ADELE MARIA JACOBS!" he boomed as she scrambled from the bed.

"It's not what it looks like!"

"What's the meaning of this?! Really? Then please explain," he folded his arms and raised his eyebrows.

"I thought I could trust you with Noah, Adele. You know how I feel about this."

Noah

Noah opened his mouth to speak, but he was cut off by his own father.

"NOAH LANDERS, I THOUGHT I RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THIS!"

Noah shrugged. "Dad, we're... this isn't..."

"Do not speak, Noah! You're in enough trouble as it is."

Noah sighed. "But Dad!"

"Noah, we trusted you kids together, and - "

"We're not kids!" Noah retorted angrily, folding his arms.

AJ

AJ just stood, opening and closing her mouth like a fish. Her father sighed and shook his head.

"Adele? You need to go home..."

"What? Dad?! No!"

"...Back to Australia, where your mother can keep an eye on you. This isn't... you know that this would never work," he gestured to Noah, trying to be sincere, "sweet, you knew you wouldn't be in America for very long, and yet you still got into a relationship. You knew..."

"But Dad!" she cut in, "I... I..."

She clenched her fists.

"I, you... you wouldn't understand," she shook her head, "you'd never understand the way... I can't helpt he way I feel about him, ok?!"

"Don't speak to me in that tone young lady," her father demanded.

"Lady? Since when have I been a lady?"

Noah

Noah father nodded.

"You heard him... AJ was never going to be able to live here, what were you thinking about?"

Noah jutted his chin forward. "I guess I wasn't thinking. I'm sorry that my heart ignored my brain, but if you're going to split us up, can we at least have a minute to say goodbye?"

Mr Landers looked to AJ's father and nodded. "A minute. And we'll be watching."

"No, private. We deserve that much, Dad."

AJ

AJ's father glanced at Noah's.

With a slight nod, he led the other man from the room.

"I'll book your flight. You leave tonight."

AJ bit her lip holding tears back as the door closed, then she turned to Noah.

"I am so, so sorry," she began.

Noah

Noah felt tears in his own eyes. He didn't cry usually, what was happening?

Noah kissed AJ, then pulled away. "I have an idea..."

AJ

AJ looked into his eyes, refusing to cry.

"An idea? This should be interesting," she raised her eyebrows, rubbing his arm.

Then she let her arm fall, and chuckled.

"Well, that was one way to find out my real name, anyway," she couldn't help but smile a little.

Noah

"I don't know how you feel about this... so I'm gonna take a moment to be completely not me and say my feelings. Shocking, yes, I know, but desperate times call for it."

Noah took a deep breath and cupped AJ's face in his hands, planting a kiss on her nose.

"AJ, I love you. And I don't want you to go, coz I don't think I'll be able to stand it here alone. Without you. So here's my idea... we run away. We run. I have a car, you don't need your stuff, coz I can just make us new stuff. What do you think?"

AJ

AJ stood still in shock for a moment, then opened her mouth.

"Ah... wow," her eyebrows jumped a little.

She put her hands on his and moved them from her face so she could look away.

"But what about..."

She closed her eyes. Why was she worried about her father when she only saw him one hour of the day, if that?

Slowly, she turned back and hugged him.

"I can't believe I'm agreeing to this..." she began.

Noah

Noah grinned. "I can't believe you agreed as well."

He kissed her softly.

"Alright, we go through the window?"

There was a knock on the door. "30 seconds guys," Noah's father called in.

Noah looked around. "I need my..." he patted his pocket. "No I don't, I have them. Window?"

He went over and opened it as quickly and softly as he could, and hurried AJ over to it.

AJ

AJ knelt up onto the window sill, got onto her feet, and jumped to the ground. Then she turned back to Noah.

"Quick quick quick," she rushed, grabbing his arm and pulling him through.

Then she looked around.

"Where to?" she bit her lip.

Noah

Noah took her hand and led her over to the driveway. He unlocked the car and basically picked her up and put her inside, then hopped into the drivers seat, started the engine and drove as fast as he could.

He turned to AJ. "I have about enough petrol to get us to Oklahoma City. Then we'll need to stop for a bit. And we can decide where to go from there. Do you want anything to drink or eat, blanket, anything?"

AJ

AJ just shook her head and looked out the window.

She couldn't believe what she'd just done.

Then again, she couldn't believe her father had overreacted so badly either.

With a sigh, she huddled futher down into the seat, then reached over to put her hand on Noah's thigh.

"Thank you," she whispered, not looking up.

Noah

Noah nodded. He moved his own hand over hers for a few seconds, then moved it back to the wheel.

"It'll be ok, AJ. We'll come back when everything has cooled down."

Noah let his eyes wander to her face for a split second. Hopefully everything would calm down.

His pocket began to vibrate, so he flipped out his cell phone. It was his Dad. He cancelled the call and turned the phone off.
