20 June 2003 - Cats have many lives

Sabretooth

Sabretooth crouched in the woods above the Mansion and snarled silently, baring his formidable fangs. He watched the mutants there go about their business and wondered how he could destroy their lives. After he had plunged from the top of the Statue of Liberty into the icy waters below, propelled by one of Cyclop's optic blasts, he had hung tenaciously to life. Crawled onto the shore and clung to the rocks as the waves battered his body, only his healing factor enabling him to live through that first night.

Cold, dark and wet. Constant pulling at him to just let go and slip away into the dark...not knowing whether anyone had survived. Not that he really cared, but it would piss him off if they had and hadn't come looking. Watching the silver light flash over and feeling that eerie tingling sweep through his body and his hair stand on end. But Magneto's glorious plan hadn't succeded. Damn the X-men.

But he had survived. And what he wanted now was a scream from the white haired Storm, the claws from Wolverine's hands and Cyclop's head on a platter. They would regret their assumption that he was dead. He wanted them all dead. Each and every one. Slowly. Painfully. He nearly salivated at the thought. Their blood on his hands...but first he had to catch them.

"I'm coming for ya, runt," he whispered as he picked out Logan in the crowd, and then a black haired woman flung her arms around him and the two kissed. Sabretooth's grin got more unpleasant. "But maybe I'll go for her first..."

So, the runt had a woman? Hadn't he been hung up on that redhead, the one Cyclops was with? Somethings had changed while he'd been hiding and healing. But he could shift things right along. Sabretooth hunkered down in the underbrush and yawned widely. Watching was boring. But he wanted to do all the stuff he had planned. That meant doing this right.

"I'm gonna enjoy this...and you are all gonna regret not making sure I was dead." He rose and stalked off into the forest to where he had made a lair. He was used to sleeping rough.

Logan felt someone's eyes on him and glanced around uneasily. Nothing. He slipped an arm around Nyx's waist. "So, what classes do you have today, darlin'?"

"One Danger Room session. That's all."

"Do you want to have lunch later? In the city?"

"Sounds like a plan, sexy." Nyx kissed him again and then swaggered off inside. "Catch ya later, lover."

"See ya round, Nyx." Logan started walking, but he glanced uneasily at the area of brush near the Mansion. He could've sworn he'd felt someone watching them. He shrugged it off as paranoia and went to the garage to tinker with his bike.
