20 June 2003 - Coming over to talk.

Carmen, Clint and Bob

Clint, Bob and Carmen rang the Hansons doorbell. They knew that someone they knew might be involved with this midnight market ring they were investigating, and they wanted to check out all of their leads.

Isaac

Isaac opened the door.

"Well, well," he said. "Long time no see."

Clint

"Hey Ike," Clint said, doing that crazy one-armed half hug that guys often do.

"I'd like to say it was better circumstances, but we're here on business. Can we come in?"

Isaac

"Sure," Isaac replied.

He stepped aside and held the door open for them.

"I wish circumstances were better myself," he said.

Jessica, Carmen, Clint and Bob

Carmen nudged Clint. "Aren't you going to introduce me?" she said, but didn't give him the change. "I'm Carmen Elizabeth Juanita Echo Sky Brava Cortez, and I'm a Secret Agent with an organization called the OSS. Me and the twins here are investigating a crime ring called the Midnight Market. THere are people snatching kids all over the world that show any sort of power, be they human or mutant, and selling them to the highest bidder." she walked into the living room. "And we think you may have some clues that might help us." Bob walked over to her.

"Calm down, girl, it doesn't have to be all business, all the time," he said. But she wanted to talk, so he telekinetically pulled Walker and Ike into the living room and sat them on the couch. Before anybody had a chance to say anything, Jess walked into the room. Bob tried to back up, but he instantly found himself hurling fire at her. Jess looked up wide-eyed.

Isaac

Isaac leapt up and pushed Jess out of the way.

"If I turn you around," Isaac said experimentally, taking hold of Bob telekinetically, "and hold you there, where you can't see Jess... then you shouldn't be able to shoot fire or anything at her... after all, you can't move what you can't see. And Jess..."

Isaac looked at his sister.

"Quit having suicidal thoughts. Bob's pathic kinetic. If you want it, you'll get it."

Jessica, Carmen, Bob and Clint

Jess looked guilty. "I--I'm sorry. I guess part of me still thinks I deserve to be hurt." Clint took the time to project warm fuzzy feelings to Jess, who suddenly started laughing "Oh, that feels nice," she said, smiling. "That really helps," she said, and she sat down, unable to stop giggling. Bob hesitantly turned around.

"Okay, I think we've got a handle on this. ANd sorry for dragging you all into the room. SOMEBODY," he llooked at Carmen. "Is all work and no play." Carmen sighed.

"I'm sorry. This is only my third mission without familial backup, and the last two didn't go so great on my own. But my brother's off in South Africa trying to settle an uprising," she paused. "He's really quite good at that. It's just, I've always been taught that family is the most important thing, it's the one mission worth fighting for, and to know that these children are being taken, it just tears me up. Working with detatched emotions isn't so easy when you're just a kid," she finished. Under her breath, she cursed herself out in several different languages.

Carmen, Bob and Clint

They started to talk about what they knew about Mouse, when Carmen's phone rang. She went into the corner and carried on a very fast- paced conversation in Spanish with her father. Hanging up, she looked up.

"All right, chage of plans. Apparently, there's been arangements for somebody tobuy a young mutant girl, and t he exchange happens tonight. THe drop point is an abandoned restaurant called the Willow Brook Inn in upstate New York. I have the coordinates here," she showed them the tiny yet elaborate computer system strapped to her arm. "Nanotechnology, way cool," she grinned.

"Okay, so hre's the plan. You," she pointed to Bob, "Are coming with me. You," she pointed to Clint, "Are to stay here in case there is any upsated information about Jane, or if the Spook calls again. Doubtful, but possible. Ready to go?" she asked Bob.

"Now?" he ased surprised.

"Yeah, come outside with me." They went outside and Carmen hugged him and then tapped her feet together, activating the jetpacks in her shoes.

"That girl is something," Clint commented as she and Bob flew away.

Clint

Clint grinned. "OKay, now, I'm supposed to ask you to tell me everything you know about Mouse and her disappearance, but I've got another idea," he got an evil look. "Want to jam?"

Isaac

"Ahh, a much better idea," Isaac said, getting up. "I'm sick of sitting around talking. Talk, talk, talk, that's all that ever gets done these days."

He sighed.

"It's been ages since me and Zac and Tay had a good practice session, what with Taylor running around all over the countryside looking for Mouse. And of course, Zac's just left. He's gone to live with Faith for... welll, I don't know how long. Depends on how soon he and Mom can make amaends I suppose."

He stood up.

"Come! Walk this way!"

And Isaac started doing a silly walk all the way to the rec room.

Clint

Clint chuckled. "When in Rome. . . " he said, and he copied Ike's walk to the rec room. He picked up a spare bass and started to pluck the strings.

"Mmm, feels good to hold a guitar in my hands again," he said, smilling contentedly.

Isaac

Isaac picked up on of his guitars as well and the two started jamming.

"Hey, Clint," Isaac said after awhile. "I smell a song..."

Clint

Within an hour they had laid down the guitar and bass tracks to a new song.

"Well," Clint said, "Now we just need lyrics."

Isaac

"Hmm..." Isaac said frowning. "What about this time? Hey! Maybe should should do something like the song 'Tequila' and just have mainly instrumental with a word thrown in every now and then."

Isaac laughed.

Clint

"Sounds good to me," Clint laughed. "To be really word, how about 'cupcake'?"

Isaac

Isaac cracked up.

"I like it. You have issues, but I like it."

And so 'Cupcake' was born.
