Faith and Pete
Faith wasn't sure how many drinks she'd had. She was still pretty with it, sorta. She unlocked her door giggling, and let herself and Pete into her house. She kicked the door closed and led Pete into her room, stopping to kiss him along the way.
She knew this wasn't right, but she was hurting so much that she needed to feel anything, rather than her heartbreak.
Pete and Faith had sex once, before Faith gathered Pete's stuff, and pushed him out the door.
"That was great, I gotta shower, bye."
She closed the door on him again and went back into her room.
"Oh, what the hell have I done?"
Faith sat on her bed and started to cry.
Faith
Faith lay face down on her bed, crying before sitting up. Her gaze fell upon the bracelet that Zac had given her, sitting on top of her dresser. She got up and picked it up, rolling it between her fingers.
Her heart started to ache. She missed Zac. More than she was willing to admit. And Pete, he'd been an attempt to get over him. Didn't work. Because she still felt like killing herself.
She had to tell him. Tell him everything. She still loved him, and even if he didn't want her back after this... she wanted him to know.
Faith reached over and grabbed her phone, and dialled in Zac's number. When she heard an answer, she hesitated before speaking.
"... hello... Zac?"
Zac
Zac had locked himself in his room again since he got back yesterday. He hadn't eaten, and all he had brought down with his was a guitar from the rec room.
Music was always how he was used to getting things out. Especially when he was feeling miserable.
His phone rang. He was sorely tempted not to answer it, but finally picked it up and nearly fainted at the sight of the number.
"Faithy?" He answered in astonishment.
Faith
"Now it's my turn to be bearer of... well I don't know what kind of news you're gonna call this, especially if you hate me right now."
Faith took a deep breath and shook her head slightly.
"I... I did something tonight that I shouldn't have done... but I did it because I was... I slept with Pete."
Zac
Zac was silent for a long moment.
"I will never hate you," he replied quietly. "And I deserved that. I should never have gone to that party.. If I hadn't none of this would have ever happened."
Faith
Faith took a breath of relief.
"Zac... I'm still really hurt at what you did, but it would be so hypocritical for me to try and say what you did was wrong while what I did was right. Because it's not..."
She took another deep breath, her tears starting to fall again. "Basically... I still love you... and I miss you, and I don't like being away from you."
Zac
"Being away from you is like taking the sun from the sky. My world is dead without you," Zac replied, then paused. "Oh, I like that... wait s econd while I jot that down. I'm working on another song you see. You're so much an inspiration to me, just from being in my life. I've written so many songs from our happy times - thankfully more than from the not-so-happy times."
He continued to talk as he wrote it down.
"You're right of course. We both did wrong. But neither of us would have if I hadn't gotten drunk at that stupid party. I wish I never went. I can only hope that I can make it up to you."
Faith
Faith smiled through her tears.
"I... do you want to come over to talk about this?"
She stood up and started to peel the sheets off her bed, not wanting to sit on rank sheets any longer.
Zac
"Sure, I'll be right over," Zac replied. "But I'm warning you, the guitar is coming with me."
He chuckled - actually chuckled - as they said goodbye and hung up. He grabbed his keys, phone, guitar and the music notes he had written and headed to his van, ignoring Diana's questions. A few minutes later, he was ringing Faith's doorbell.
Faith
Faith finished changing her sheets, and dressed in black pants and a white singlet just as she heard the doorbell ring. She went to the door and opened it, and smiled when she saw him.
"Hey... come in..."
Zac
Zac didn't even wait to get in the doorway before he embraced Faith and kissed her.
"I missed you so much," he breathed when he pulled away.
Faith
Faith kissed him again and hugged him tightly, before pulling him inside and closing the door.
"I missed you too... oh god, let's not ever be apart again."
Zac
"Never again," Zac agreed.
He kissed her lips again, and then moved onto her neck.
Faith
Faith ran her hands through Zac's hair, she felt tears trickle down her cheeks. She was so happy that he was here with her.
"I love you so much."
She kissed him again.
Zac
Zac kissed her nose.
"C'mon, I wanna... I wanna sing to you what I wrote so far," he said.
He stuck his notes under his arm, picked up the guitar and took Faith's hand with the other hand.
Faith
Faith smiled and led him into her living room. She perched on a couch and watched Zac expectantly. She sighed happily as she leant back against the couch.
Zac
"Okay," Zac said as he put the guitar on his lap. "I'm not as good as Ike and Tay on the guitar, so bear with me here."
He strummed a few notes and then began an upbeat tune:
"Well I'm a fool
I'm a moron
I'm a scumbag
I'm a jerk
For all those things I did
I should stuff my head in dirt
Bury me
Burn me
I don't really care
Losing you is simply far more
than I can ever bear
I should have known better
Than to do those things I did
To say those things I said..." Zac trailed off. "Dang I can never figure out what comes next. But anyway. This is what I had in mind for the bridge:"
Zac switched to a more smoother tune, but still obviously connected:
"Being away from you, my love
is like taking the sun from the very sky
My world is dead without you..."
Zac frowned.
"Yeah... that needs work too..."
Faith
Faith smiled and leaned over to kiss Zac gently.
"I love you. And that was... not true. You're wonderful."
Zac
"Well..." Zac said. "It felt true at the time. I sure as heck didn't feel 'wonderful'."
He kissed her back and smiled.
"I should play you some of the other stuff I wrote about you sometime. But right now," he stroked her cheek, "do you suppose we could make up for lost time?"
Faith
Faith kissed Zac. She pulled away when they were both breathless and grinned at him.
"I think making up for lost time sounds like a good idea."
Faith took Zac's hand and led him through to her bedroom.
Zac
Zac and Faith made long and passionate love all through the night... blah, blah, blah. We've all heard this story before...
When at last they were done (if they're ever done) Zac kissed her forehead before resting comfortably beside her.
Faith
Faith took Zac's hand and caressed it gently, then turned and kissed him sleepily before rolling onto her side and closing her eyes.
"I love you..." she whispered before drifting off to sleep.
Zac
"I love you too," Zac replied, before falling asleep himself.
