Spook
Christina was packing her stuff, humming to herself as she folded her clothes neatly. Time to get out of Mexico. Place was too damn muggy for her taste. She could afford to take a holiday, hell, she'd never have to work again if she didn't go insane with the purchases. 1.76 *billion* American dollars, deposited in a Swiss bank account. *1.76*. Who would've thought Uncle Sam could cough up that much cash? Well, for something that wasn't for military purposes, anyway.
She dragged the suitcase to the front door, and then headed back to her bedroom to get her weapons together. She'd cleaned them all lovingly and bought a few more pieces she'd had her eye on for a while. An absolutely gorgeous matched Samurai sword set, for instance. Works of art really, rather then weapons. She looked at her watch. Just time enough to pack up the medical equipment -she snickered mentally at the thought if describing the stuff she'd used to drug up Mouse as medical equipment - and then get the hell out. The Normandy coast sounded good to her. Maybe the Riveria. Europe somewhere, anyway.
And then her remaining sensors went wild. Christina listened in shock, eyes widening, then scrambled into action as lights flashed and whistles went off. Not now! Not when she was so damn close to leaving this hellhole behind! A heavy body hit her front door and Christina grabbed up her bags, sliding a new cartridge into her rifle.
Taylor, Kirk, Christian and Chloe
"This is it!" Taylor cried, the birds in the nearby trees agreeing most loudly.
"Stay back man!" Kirk pulled Taylor back by the arms as Christian tried to get in the door.
Chloe was standing behind, waiting until she could catch sight of the hunter, whom none of them had ever seen before. That she knew of.
"I have to see her!" Taylor cried, struggling against him.
"Taylor, no! Don't make me hurt you!" Chloe warned.
Spook
Fafnir slunk in the door and Christina nodded, rifle held easily in her hands. "Hello, wolf."
I can't believe how good your blood is going to taste flowing down my throat. Fafnir snarled at her, hackles rising as the woman looked at him coolly.
"You can come on in. Just, no funny business, or I will fill you full of lead." Christina cocked the rifle and held it on the door. "You know, I was just about to leave too..." she shrugged her shoulders. "Ah well, that's life for you." The door slowly swung fully open and she eyed the four people that appeared from behind it. "So. Which one of you's Mouse's precious Tay?"
Chloe, Christian, Kirk and Taylor
Taylor's fists clenched in anger at the way she spoke of his girlfriend.
"Fafnir! Come... back off!" he called in both wolf and English, so the hunter wouldn't know he was speaking in wolf.
She might not have known they were alien.
Christian turned back to him, being the one standing in front of the others. He gave Christina a curious glance.
"Who wants to know?" he replied to her question.
If he wanted to vouch for Taylor, he'd want to know what was involved.
"Let me at the bitch..." Chloe cursed under her breath, before Kirk grabbed her arm now holding both her and Taylor back.
Spook
"Well...YIRAAS knows me not so fondly as Spook," Christina said coldly as her foot edged forward and found the button for the bomb on the front step. So, she hadn't gotten around to disarming all her boobytraps yet. This time her tardiness might keep her alive. "And you're too late if you're here for the streetbrat." She raised the gun as one of the guys made an abortive move towards her. "I really wouldn't do that...unless you feel like becoming the next item on the news tonight. There's a bomb under the step, and I can set it off easily."
Fafnir's tail lashed from side to side and his muscles bunched in preperation to spring. I am going to bathe in your BLOOD!
"Settle down, puppy." Christina kept her eyes trained on the one who'd spoken first. "He springs, we all die. It's on deadman switch. I like to have insurance when I deal with aliens. Seeing as how I hunt them an' all."
Taylor, Christian, Chloe and Kirk
Christian's eyes glittered for a moment. He'd heard of the so- called 'Spook' through someone who'd worked for his fath- well, the Spider.
"Fafnir, no," Taylor demanded, not caring if the 'Spook' heard him talk in wolf now.
"That kind of insurance isn't going to do you much good, dealing with 'aliens'," Christian mocked her for a moment, then laughed.
Chloe pulled her arm away from Kirk and stepped to the side so she could see the woman past Christian.
"Well guess what bitch?" she began cockily, a smirk on her face, "I don't even need to touch you, or even get close."
She reached out with her mind, using her atom manipulation. The button sunk into the ground and was covered with concrete. Then she laughed as Kirk hissed at her.
Spook
"You know what? Screw this. I've played this game with you...filth for too long." Christina shifted her bag on her back onto the other shoulder, green eyes icy cold. "Mouse is gone. I'm now a very rich woman. 1.76 billion dollars richer to be precise. I'd thank the guy on the phone for that particular blessing. I suggest if you want her back, you go ask good ol' Uncle Sam. Ciao." She turned her back and kicked a stopper. A wall slid down behind her and she ran flat out for her escape route. Another whirling kick and a slumber inducing gas started to fill the rooms behind her. She slipped a gas mask on over her face as she bolted. Thank god she hadn't fully dismantled yet.
Fafnir leapt at the wall and rebounded with a snarl and skitter of claws. I'LL HUNT YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!
Christian, Taylor, Kirk and Chloe
"Fafnir! NO!" Taylor screamed, as Kirk finally let go of him.
He ran into the building and towards the wolf.
"TAYLOR!" Christian yelled, not thinking that he'd be giving his identity away.
Christian ran in after him.
"GUYS? Get OUT!" Kirk yelled after them, then looked around worriedly.
"We can't leave them," Chloe put a hand on his shoulder.
"The damn place is gonna fill with gas in a sec," Kirk rubbed his face.
"Fafnir!" Taylor exclaimed, finding the wolf and collapsing to his knees to hug him.
Christian made it over to them, then ran his hand over the wall. It suddenly disappeared.
Taylor looked up in confusion.
"Atom manipulation, hello?" Christian frowned when he saw.
Taylor started to cough.
"The gas Christian! The gas!" he cried, seeing Christian disappear ahead of him.
"CHRISTIAN!" Kirk yelled, hearing Taylor's cries.
Spook
Christina ran to her car, throwing her stuff in and fumbling the keys into the ignition. With a squeal of tires, she zoomed out of her driveway, slamming her door shut. "Well, that all went to hell," she mused as she entered the flow of traffic. "Hope they find the tapes...aw, goddamnit! I left my research notes on the table!" She hit the steering wheel in frustration. "That's worth years of work, that stuff!"
Fafnir dropped to his knees and then crawled along his belly, keeping his head down below the clouds of drifting gas. He followed the traces of Mouse's scent to a cold concrete and steel door. Here. Mouse was here. He eyed the impressive looking bolts set up on the surface. No wonder she couldn't get out. Swear to God, if I ever find that twolegger again, she will die. Fafnir promised in a deadly rage.
