14 June 2003 - Slayer And Watcher

Faith and Xander

Faith and Xander sat together on a picnic blanket in the National Park, late at night. It had been fairly slow in terms of vampire activity, so Xander and Faith basically sat and talked all night.

"So, he was alright?"

Faith shrugged. "I really don't know. I mean, yeah, it's understandable with the whole... no thing. But... you know... I feel so bad, because I don't know what to do."

"It's different being on the side, isn't it?"

"Yeah... it's harder. This is something I can't fight for him... well, I can fight Zada... but I mean... the pain inside his heart and head... something not solid to fight."

"You're helpless, you have to watch him suffer."

"And I hate it."

Xander reached over and hugged Faith. She sighed softly.

"What are you going to do?"

"I don't know. Just be there for him, I mean, that's all I can do, right?"

"Yeah, he needs your love and support." Xander paused. "That was a bit hallmarky, wasn't it?"

"Just a bit."

"Listen, it looks to be slow. You wanna just go hang back at the Manor?"

Faith frowned, in mock offence. "You don't wanna come to my place?"

"Well, they have more furniture than you, and you haven't seen them in awhile. Plus... a couch that doesn't have certain residue on it."

Faith grinned wickedly. "Skanky residue. Yeah, let's go."

Xander stood up and helped her to her feet, picked up the blanket at the walked back to the Manor.
