9 June 2003 - Isaac has an idea

Isaac

Isaac shot up. He had just been asleep, and what had woken him was just the best idea ever!

Or at least a fantastic solution to a lingering problem.

He got out of bed and dressed. Then he bounded out of his bedroom and knocked on Taylor's door.

"Tay? You up yet?"

If he didn't tell Taylor his idea soon, he was going to burst.

Taylor

Taylor rubbed his eyes as he sat up in bed, Fafnir laying by the bed after he'd convinced the wolf to stay.

"Ike?" he looked - and sounded - confused.

He slowly got up and went to answer the door.

"What do you want at this time of morning?" he yawned curiously.

Isaac

"I have the best idea ever!" Isaac informed him, his eyes glittering. "The whole mess with Taryn? I know how to get around the DNA test!"

There was no mistaking the excitement in Isaac's face.

Taylor

"What?" Taylor squinted, "you woke me up for..."

Then it registered what he'd said.

He stared at his brother.

"Tell me you're not joking," he demanded, grabbing his shoulders, "what? What is it?!"

Isaac

"I'm not joking," Isaac grinned.

He rubbed his hands together gleefully.

"Okay, it's like this. As far as the world is concerned the only people who can have the same DNA are identical twins. Of course, no one thinks you have an identical twin. So it's very simple. You agree to the DNA test but only if a fraternal test on Christian first comes out negative. But it'll come out positive, of course, and that'll be proof enough that it's not yours."

Taylor

Taylor's eyes searched his brother's, before a grin spread across his face.

"Ike, you're a genius!" he exclaimed, hugging onto him.

Isaac

"No problem, man," Isaac said. "See? I told you we'd find a way out of this. All we have to do now, is find Christian."

Taylor

Taylor hesitated as he drew away.

"Umm... can it wait?" he asked quietly, knowing no one else was awake, "I kinda have plans for the next few days or so..."

Isaac

Isaac raised an eyebrow.

"Mouse?" he asked.

Taylor

Taylor nodded silently, before going back into his room. He'd packed up some clothes and other things he thought he'd need into a backpack the night before. The fuzzle-carrier was ready to go.

"I can't lose her Ike. I sent the word out last night, so as soon as anyone... well, anything finds her, I'll know."

Isaac

Isaac nodded.

"You want some help?" He asked. "Or would you rather I held down the fort?"

Taylor

"I'm fine. I'd rather you held down the fort," Taylor admitted, pulling a shirt over his top, then a jacket.

"Thanks Ike. I know they'll be worried. Just tell them I love them... they should know."

Isaac

"I will," Isaac assured him. "And just remember, I'm only a phone call away. Be careful."

Taylor

Taylor held p his cell phone and grinned.

"I know. And I will."
