Miette
Miette sighed. She thought being at one of Katie's parties would cheer her up.
She had been wrong.
She thought that her breakup with Isaac was a good thing. She had been relieved. But she still missed him like crazy.
Dale
Dale was dancing with Katie when he saw Miette. She didn't look happy. He left Katie dancing with someone else and went over.
"Hey, Mi. How are ya?"
Miette
"Hi Dale," Miette smiled. "I'm good and you?"
Then she shook her head.
"Actually... that's kinda a lie... me and Ike broke up."
Dale
"Aw, well I'm probably better than you then." Dale gave her a little hug.
"You need to talk or anything?"
Miette
"Mmm... no... well... I don't know. We're still gonna be friends, and all, but the long distance thing wasn't working," Miette shook herself. "But anyway. Wanna dance?"
Dale
"Well... it works out well for me, I guess. Sure."
Dale took her hand and led her out to the dancefloor, wrapping his arms around her waist.
Miette
Miette smiled. Glad that at last she wasn't feeling guilty about this. She wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Works out well for you, huh?" she inquired.
Dale
"Well, see... I kinda get to spend more time with you now... and I don't have to worry about doing this..." Dale kissed her neck.
Miette
Miette was startled at this particular... responce. Certainly not what she had been expecting.
Not that she was complaining.
She twisted her head so that her lips met his.
Dale
Dale kissed Miette then pulled back.
"Are you sure about this? I don't wanna force you into anything."
Miette
Miette looked at him for a moment, then she smiled.
"I don't know," she admitted. "But it's nice to be able to admit I like you without feeling guilty."
Dale
"Well, it's nice to hear it. And I can finally say this. I like you back."
Dale smiled at her and tightened his arms around her waist.
Miette
Miette smiled and rested her head on his shoulder.
"I'm happy to hear you say that too."
Dale
Dale leaned down and kissed her softly.
"So... we can either stay here and hang out... or we can go for a walk, to a movie, you know... usual teenage stuff. Up to you."
Miette
"I'm fine with either," Miette told him.
She sighed happily.
Dale
"How about we go for a walk or something? See where it takes us... after all, night is young." Dale grinned and led her off the dance floor.
"Hmm... jackets perhaps."
Miette
"Okay," Miette agreed.
She retrived her jacket, put it on, and began walking outside with Dale.
"So, which way?"
Dale
Dale shrugged his jacket on. He reached for her hand and pointed down the road.
"Well, my house is in that direction... the park is in that direction too... the movies is in the opposite, but if we go there, let's drive, not walk coz that's too far."
He grinned. "Don't worry, I haven't been drinking at all."
Miette
"Hmm... movies, or park?" Miette considered. "I don't think there's anything on at the moment, so let's go to the park."
She linked elbows with Dale and started walking.
Dale
They walked down to the park, chatting occasionally. When they reached the park, Dale headed for a swing. He jumped on and started to slowly rock back and forth.
"So, does this mean I'll be getting to see a lot more of you?"
Miette
Miette sat down on a swing as well.
"I guess so," she replied with a smile.
Dale
"Well..." Dale looked nervous. He bit his lip trying to think of a way to phrase the question.
"Would... if you want... do you want to go to the movies with me tomorrow night?"
Miette
Miette smiled.
"Sure," she said.
They talked for a while longer before going their separate ways.
