Lilah and X-men
It had been more than a month now that Angelica had been at Xaviers Institute. And she had loved every moment of it. Surprisingly, even her kitchen duty that one week. There had been dramas at the school. Weddings, fights (physical & verbal) & deaths. But now she was looking back on the past month, explaining everything to Sally, her best friend. Face to Face. This was the first time she had been able to see Sally & sit down have a good old chat with her, like she used to before moving into the institute.
Angelica was sitting with Sally & Rusty in the Wolfram & Hart buildings reception area. Angelica had no problems with talking openly & freely her current life her. The company dealt with god- knows so a young mutant girl talking about school would have meant nothing.
Angelica described the friends she had made. Sam, the sweet guy from Kentucky, who saw himself as the leader of their little group. Dani, the real leader of the group, Angelicas roommate & very close friend. The stuff they talked about after lights out was scandalous, but she trusted Dani the most at the school. As did most of the group. Then there was Doug, the computer geek who everyone gets along with. Roberto, the brazilian stud who liked guys, much to Angelicas disappointment. Xi'an, the cool aussie chick who was mysterious yet open at the same time who was also gay. Johan, the german guy who seemed quiet but once he felt comfortable, he was actually quite funny & loud. Angelica sensed he was hiding something though. She felt as though that the reason he was quiet was because of what he was hiding. It didn't really matter to her though. People are allowed to keep secrets. And lastly, there was Rahne. The feisty little scottish girl, who's bite was worse than her bark. She also pointed out out obvious it was that Rahne had a crush on Doug. She liked the group of friends she had made. She had something in common with each one of them, whether it be music taste, clothes taste, boys taste, interests, powers, family life. She felt a connection with each one of them. She had never had this many friends in her life. She only wished that Sally & Rusty could be there with her to.
Sally had visited a few times but it didn't really interest her. She had always hated school & loved her independence & being able to do what she wanted when she wanted. Rusty quite liked the place. But Angelica mainly thought that was due to his wanting better control of his power. He didn't give a rats about an education.
Angelica talked about work as well. She now worked Saturday, 9-5 only. General office assistant. Mainly in the higher levels, the same floor as Lilahs office, delivering mail, passing on messages, making coffee. She didn't mind. As long as she got paid. She still saw Lilah. She seemed very interested in what was going on in Angelicas life. But she wasn't sure if Lilah really cared, or she was asking for some other reason.
The last month had gone by pretty smoothly for Angelica. For others there was much trouble, but not for her. She found it odd though. She felt like it was the calm before the storm. Although, she may have been trained how to use her powers & body for offense & defense, she still felt unprepared; defenseless. She wondered for a second as Rusty talked about a fight that he had gotten into, that maybe she should leave the school, go somewhere safe, away from potential trouble. As the thought came to her head, she shook it away. She loved it there & she felt safe there, why would she want to leave? She dismissed the thought, thinking it just beinging part of her minds ramblings & went back to listening to Rusty.
Upstairs, Lilah Morgan & Emma Frost were in Lilahs office. Lilah in her chair, Emma in the other, with her eyes closed. She slowly opened them & looked at Lilah worried.
"What?' Lilah asked "Did it work?"
"No!" Emma said impatiently, "As I told you the last time i tried, her will is too strong. Not only that, but she is starting to learn the signs of someone using telepathy on her. Her mind is too strong. She can sense what thoughts are definatly hers & what ones seem odd & unlike her. She just dismisses the ones I plant in her mind."
Lilah looked at Emma wondering. When she hired Angelica, she thought she was an able girl with a great mind. But she did not realise how great. She leant down & rummaged through her briefcase, pulling out a file with "Jones, Angelica" written on it, with an Xavier Institute stamp on it. She opened it to looked at her latest tests results.
"Wow" she said, "She's brilliant." Her eyes flickered around the piece of paper with Angelicas results, looking at all the different statistics & comments. She feared she had underestimated the girl.
She pulled out another file, marked this time only with an M. It was from Mystique. Lilah opened the file & looked at the paper. It had the rankings of the students in each age group. Angelica was up the top. With Monet St Croix, Douglas Ramsey, Kitty Pryde.
Emma had been looking over Lilahs shoulder the whole time.
"I want the girl at my school Lilah" she said sturnly.
"I can understand why Ms Frost. But i can't just withdraw her for no reason. It would look suspicious."
Emma just smiled. "Then we'll find one. But for now, where is the girls father. I think it is time he & I have a bit of a chat"
Angelicas lunch break was due to finished. She said her goodbyes to Sally & Rusty & made her way back up to the office. She couldn't wait to finish work. Sally, Rusty & Dani were going to "Haven", Sallys favourite monthly Rave. As she pressed the botton for her level, she couldn't help but scan through her memories of the last month & let a huge smile creep onto her face. She felt happy, for once, & nothing was going to ruin it for her.
