Dawn, Kitty, Jessica and Rachel
The girls needed a gay off. So Jess, Dawn, Rachel, Amanda and Kitty just left. They took Rachel's car and went into the city for the day, with permission from the Professor. But Dawn neglected to tell Spike, because she needed freedom from him for a while. Freedom from it all.
"God, I can't stand it anymore," Dawn said. "People are at each other's throats, Nyx is going crazy, nobody's even trying to make thge situation any better."
"Everybody's worried," Kitty replied. "We're all running scared, Dawn." Dawn sighed.
"I feel like we're all on some soap opera or something."
"I totally agree," Jess replied. "We need some major shopping therapy." Dawn grinned, and pulled out her credit card. "Paid for by the Watcher's Council. From a back account that's been in the billions for over a hundred years.
"Groovy, I got one too," Amanda said.
"I've got a gold card from the professor," Kitty said, smiling. "And he's loaded. Plus my parents just put $200 in my bank account."
"Daddy's loaded," Rachel said, smiling. Jess looked sad.
"I wish i had that kind of money. My brothers are the rich ones in the family."
"Don't werry, girlfriend, we'll treat!" Dawn said.
"Absolutely!" the rest of them echoed. They headed for some of the most expensive clothing shops in Manhattan. The girls spent the day buying everything they saw, and then they went and pigged out on junk food, and saw "What A Girl Wants" at the second run theatre.
"This is the life," Kitty sighed, as she put three new shoeboxes form Neiman Marcus in the trunk. "We have got to do this more often."
"Definitely," Amanda said. "I think this is the most fun I've had in ages. Even more fun that killing things." she grinned.
"Okay," Rachel said. "Only in this group is killing things something that is spoken of along with shopping!" they all laughed. As they pulled up to the mansion, they all seemed somber.
"Let's not go in just yet," Rachel said quietly. "Let's go down to the pond for a while and just talk.
"Good idea," Kitty said. They sat, and joked around for a while, just talking and having fun.
Nyx and Mouse
Nyx and Mouse were talking, the catwoman's head in the empath's lap as Mouse slowly brushed the black hair into silk. They looked up briefly as the group of girls came in chattering. Mouse felt a brief flicker of hurt that she hadn't been invited but squashed it down. She wasn't really their friend anyway. She concentrated on relaxing Nyx, soothing and gentling. Fafnir was lying down next to them.
They're not Pack, Mouseling. And we ain't theirs.
I know, Faf...I just wish they had asked. I would've loved to go see a movie or something...
It is kinda rude, sweetie... Nyx said, but she didn't get up. Mouse's hands felt sooooo good. And she didn't like to yell at people, not really. She'd just been so stressed lately. Oh, yeah. Right there. Nyx purred, a deeb throbbing contented rumble.
I can deal. My best friend really is Faith...I wish she'd come up. Dawn's a bit of a brat lately. And Jessi's been really distant.
I'm sorry for that, sweetie. Real regret coloured Nyx's thoughts. I didn't mean to stuff it up.
Jessi's hurting. I can't do anything about that. Just help her when she asks. Mouse kept steadily brushing Nyx's hair.
