Jean, Scott, Dawn and Enrique
Jean was unbelievably nervous as she sat at the dressing table, her mother curling her hair.
"Oh no, I can't do this, I can't go through with this!" she wailed.
"Jeanie, you can," her mother reassured her. Ororo and the girls who were her bridesmaids all came in in the simple green dresses Jean had picked out.
"Here, Jean, wear this," Dawn said, handing her a necklace. "Your dress is new, your garter is blue, and your veil is old," she said, "This can be your 'something borrowed," Dawn said, handing Jean a silver necklace. "It was my mother's."
"Oh Dawn, it's beautiful. Thank you." the girl smiled.
"And Jean, you can do this," her mother told her gently, "It's just wedding day jitters. Everybody gets them. I was so nervous when I married your father, I nearly threw up in my bouquet. It'll be okay, don't worry."
"And you're getting an awesome guy," Dawn responded. "Plus, joining a really cool family," she teased.
---
Scott was a bundle of nerves himself. Jean's father came up to him. "You'll be fine," he reassured the young man. "My daughter is lucky to have you." He was frantically looking for the rings,
"Where are the rings?" he asked, freaking out.
"I have them already," Enrique said, holding up the pillow. "See?" Scott tried to calm himself down.
"Okay, don't panic, Scott, you can do this."
Nyx and Logan
Nyx stroked her mother's ears as Logan grumbled about wearing a suit. "Wolverine, baby..."
"Goddamn it!" He struggled with his tie and Nyx came over to tie it for him. "I can't beleive I'm wearing this monkey suit."
"You look wonderful," Nyx assured him. She was wearing a long simple white robe, hair braided into plaits and weighted with gold beads. Her wrists were encircled with ornate gold bracelets and a gold collar rested against her throat. She'd even put in earrings, which hung down to her shoulders, delicate traceries set with small pieces of jet.
"You look like a goddess," Logan said. She smiled.
No, that would be me I believe. Bastet said dryly, her coat brushed so it shimmered like silk, small golden hoop in one ear and an ornate gold and lapis lazuli collar supporting an Eye of Horus pendant.
"Hush, Mom." Nyx made a few passes with her hands and suddenly her face glimmered with gold dust, face made up in the Egyptian style, making her look very alien and otherwordly, sweeping black lines extending the line of her eyes and smooth curves decorating her cheeks. "This is the style of the pharoah. Anyone but the ones allowed to wear it bring the curse of the Gods on themselves." She picked up her headband and settled it on her head. The cobra and the vulture stared out balefully, black eyes gleaming. "This is a symbol of my protection over Egypt. I protect the Two Lands, and they give me life." She turned around, and Logan saw in her face the majesty and power that was ancient Egypt. "We have a wedding to attend."
Indeed we do. Bastet agreed. Nice to see someone keeping up the old ways. The goddess leapt off the bed and padded over to the door. Logan offered Nyx his arm and she took it gracefully, cool linen pleats whispering around her bare feet. Logan opened the door and they set out to attend Jean and Scott's wedding.
Scott
Scott was pacing back and forth. "God, Logan, am I doing the right thing? Jeannie deserves so much better than me, I have too much baggae. Maybe this isn't a good idea." Scott's voice was tinged with panic as he approached Logan, Nyx and Bastet.
"I can't go through with this..." he was wringing his hands. "Look at me, I'm sweating like a pig!"
Storm and Bobby
Storm stood quietly watching Jean panic. She smiled at her reassuringly.
"You will be fine. You love Scott and he loves you, this day is going to be perfect."
Storm moved some strands of hair away from Jean's eyes and kissed her cheek.
"I'm so happy for you."
***
Bobby was amused seeing the normally calm Scott dance around like a maniac. He hoped that when it came to his wedding day, he wouldn't be like this. Then again... he didn't have a girl at the moment. Although thngs were looking up.
"Scott, man, calm down!"
Jean
"Ororo, I'm so glad you're my maid of honour, you're, like, my best friend in the whole, thank you so much." she said. "Okay, I can do this."
LOgan and Nyx
"Slim, calm down." Logan chuckled. "You'll be fine."
"So much fuss...you'll be very happy together. This is just a way of saying to the world how much you two treasure each other." Nyx put her hand on Scott's shoulder. "How much you want to spend your forever with her."
Scott and Jean
Scott took a deep breath. "okay, okay, I can do this. We love each other, and we want to do this." he looked at his watch. "Oh, god, it's time to start! Okay, we can do this." He went to the chapel and stood at the front, and waited for Siobhan to come down the aisle with the flowers.
--
Jean heard the music start, and lined up behind the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
"Okay Kiddo, let's do this," Jean's father said as he slipped his arm through hers.
"Daddy, I'm so glad you're here."
"I wouldn't miss this for the world, baby."
Siobhan
Siobhan was trying really, really hard to be good. She fingered the material of her pretty dress and sniffed at the flowers she was holding. She started down the aisle, frowning a little in concentration. Step, pause, step, pause...be in time. She felt Mab's amusement flicker through her mind and smiled a little. Mab would make sure she was fine.
~*~*~*~
Bastet sat regally, watching the child come up the aisle. Hello, Mab.
And hello t' ye too. Isn't she the most darling thing?
Yours?
Oh, most assuredly. Ye don' trult think I let a flower like that leave me?
No. One of mine is here today as well.
Nyx?
Nay, a Claimant. Girl with the wolf.
She's sweet. I can't have her, can I?
No.
Spoil all my fun. Bastet smiled slightly as Mab pouted.
No tricks, Mab.
Why would I ever do that? Mab's tone was suspicously innocent.
They deserve their wedding. Let them have this moment.
Enrique
Enrique followed Siobhan. Okay, okay, left, together, right, together. Izquierda, juntos, derecha, juntos. I can do this, don't drop the rings. he told himself and he held the pillow up. He was hoping he wouldn't have any visions during the wedding, he didn't want to screw up.
Then came Ororo and the professor. They were followed by Warren and Ducky, Hank and Kitty, Bobby and Dawn, and Rogue and Logan. Finally, "Here Comes the Bride" began to play, and Jean and her father marched down the aisle.
Nyx, Mouse, Mavericks and Llewyns
Nyx watched calmly as they came down the aisle. Mouse was floating on the beautiful emotions in the room. Oh, this was bliss. She let her shields down and basked in the flow of love and happiness. She was ready to slam them back up again if she needed to though.
Mordred and Vortigern sat together with Mary and watched Siobhan step down the aisle. She was so adorable. Octavian and Demetria smiled at the sight of the little girl, her hair all done up in ringlets and studded with flowers. Spike watched Dawn. If only Buffy and Joyce...he shook the thought away.
Scott, Jean and Dawn
Scott gasped as he saw Jean in her wedding dress. "I definitely made the right choice," he whispered. "If only my family was here he thought to himself. Then he eyed Dawn. But we're making a new family. Me, Jean, the baby and Dawn.
Jean's father didn't want to let her go.
"Who gives this woman away in marriage?" Kurt asked.
"Her mother and I do," Mr. Grey replied, teary -eyed. Then he began the ceremony. There was a pregnant pause when he asked if there were any objections. But there were none, so they got to the vows.
"I do," Jean breathed.
"I do," Scott echoed when Kurt asked him the same question. Scott took the ring and placed it on her finger.
"With this ring, I thee wed," he said. Jean did the same.
"With this ring, I thee wed," she said, tears in her eyes.
"By the powers vested in me by Got and the Holy Mother Church, I now pronounce you Man and Wife, you may now kiss your bride." Scott swpt Jean into his arms and kissed her deeply.
"I now present Mr. and Mrs. Scott Summers." Kurt said happily. They held hands as the reccessional began, and the walked back down the aisle.
Bastet and Mab
We of Egypt bless this union. Bastet shook out her fur, her voice echoing in the mind of all present, warm and comforting.
The Gentle Folk place their blessing on this couple. May ye live long and happily, in love, trust and joy. Mab's voice was different to Bastet's, echoing with laughter and quicksilver amusement.
Theresa, Dawn and Enrique
Theresa grinned, and the Wisps flitted around happily. The Mab was here, and she hadn't seen her in so long.
Dawn held onto Bobby's arm as they walked back. She was finally going to have a real family again.
Enrique held Siobhan's hand as the filed out, and then weveryone left the sactuary to join the reception.
Llewyns, Logan and Mouse
Siobhan was chattering away in Gaelic to the Faeries that hovered around her face, invisible to those that didn't believe with the heart of a child. Mary watched with a smile, then walked over to Spike and Vortigern. "She's happy...she missed them when we came to America."
"Yeah, don't need to be no spook to see that." Vortigern reached down and ruffled his sister's hair.
Mouse sat in a corner, Fafnir curled up against her legs and Bastet purring away in her ear. She smiled. So, what you think, Bastet?
I think everything is going to be fine. Everyone needed something like this to get themselves back together.
Very good point.
"Be good, Jean, Scott." Logan shook Scott's hand then turned back to Nyx with a smile.
"I would say, may the Gods smile on you but they already do." Nyx took Jean's hands. "May your children grow strong and be loved."
Scott and Jean
Jean kissed Nyx's cheek. "Thank you Nyx. Now, if nobody minds, I think I'm going to go throw up now." she said as she bolted out of the room.
"Morning sickness that can't tell time," Scott joked. The band started to play, and, since Jean was in the washroom, Scott danced with his cousin. Enrique went and took Siobhan's hand.
"Will you dance with me, Siobhan?" he asked.
Siobhan, Nyx and Logan
Siobhan nodded and smiled brightly. "K!" The two children started to dance. Nyx settled into Logan's arms with a purr.
"They're cute, no?"
"Very." Logan inhaled her scent and sighed happily.
Jean, Clark, Dawn and Theresa
Jean came out of the bathroom, and Clark cut in, dancing with Dawn, and floating them about a foot above the ground. Theresa grabbed Bobby.
"Come on, let's dance," she said.
Bobby
Bobby took Theresa's hands and led her out onto the dancefloor, feeling happy.
"Nice wedding, wasn't it?"
Theresa
"Yes, and the Mab is here, I haven't seen her in so long. I hope that someday I have a nice wedding like that," she said, grinning.
Llewyns, Logan, Nyx and Mouse
Mary watched Siobhan dance with Enrique with a small frown on her face. Mordred came up behind her. "Dance with me?"
"Ok." She smiled up at him as they made their way onto the floor. Vortigern danced slowly with Spike, ignoring the music as they whispered to each other. Nyx went to get a drink, Logan prowling along behind her.
"Hey, Mousey, you good over there, sweetie?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Mouse smiled up at Nyx.
"Why don't you come and dance?"
"Nah, don't feel like it. And besides, me and Bastet are talking." Mouse resumed her conversation with the cat goddess.
Rogue
Rogue sat in a corner of the reception hall with a smile on her face as she watched everyone dancing.
Jean and Dawn
"And now, would everybody please clear the dance floor, the bride would like to dance with her father." the bandleader said. They started to play "Butterfly Kisses," by Bob Carslile, and Jean wrapped her arms around her father's neck.
"I'm so happy, Daddy," Jean said, tears in her eyes.
"And I'm so happy for you, Jeanie," he said.
Dawn went up to Spike. "You're the closest thing to a father I have, will you dance with me?" Spike was touched. He took Dawn out onto the dancefloor and wand waltzed with her. Jess walked up to Walker.
"Daddy, will you dance with me?"
John
John walked over to Rogue. "Would you care to dance?"
Rogue
Rogue looked up at him and smiled.
"Sure," she replied, taking his outstretched hand.
John, Orlando and Ophelia
Though John was truly in love with Martha, her inability to be with him was a strain, and he felt again the feelings for Rogue he thought he had suppressed. He held her close and danced with her.
Then Orlando and Ophelia and Rosalind took the stage.
"We would like to sing s song we wrote for Jean and Scott, as a gift for them." Rosalind strummed a guitar as Orlando and Ophelia sang in lyrical, hynotic voices.
"What strange magic is this,
That lies so deep within your kiss?
A strange deep force within your eyes
Pulls me close and tells no lies.
There is magic in our embrace,
And I see love within your face.
It tells me what I already know,
that we shall ne'er let our love go.
This love was made to last forever,
The gods insist we stay together.
The Mab and Bastet, and Osiris himself,
As well as the goddess of the earth
Have blessed this love forever.
This union will never fall.
This family will never fall apart.
For we have the strength of heart
To always stay within love's thrall.
What strange magick is this,
That lies so deep within your kiss?
A deep strong force within your eyes
Pulls us close and tells no lies."
Rogue
Rogue danced with John. A part of her wished that he was Gambit. She sighed.
Walker
"Shouldn't this be the other way around?" Walker mused.
He took his daughter's hand and led her onto the dance floor.
MOuse
Mouse watched and blinked back sudden tears. Damn the Spider! He'd cheated her of so much...
Jessica
Jess wrapped her arms around her father, and laid her head on his chest. SHe felt safe, loved. She'd come clean soon, and tell her whole family everything. Soon, but not yet. "I love you so much, Daddy," she whispered, unsure if he even heard it.
Adam
Adam watched his girlfriend dance with her father, and he felt all warm inside. Then he saw the tears Mouse was trying to hide.
"Jane, would you like to dance with me?" Adam asked
Mouse
"Yeah, why not?" Mouse tried to smile. She was really trying to keep a lid on her empathy; this was meant to be a happy time. And her lack of control shouldn't affect everyone else here.
Adam
Adam smiled. "You know, Jane, you are a very beautiful woman. Had we met under different circumstances, I might have asked you out," he said, listening to the music.
Mouse
"If you'd seen me. I wasn't very attention grabbing a few months ago. I'dve probably run as fast as I could away..." Mouse smiled slightly. "Streets aren't nice."
Adam
"No. I'm very lucky," he said, gazing at Jessica. He sighed, without realizing it.
Mouse
"She's lucky to have you." Mouse said sincerely. "Sometimes what you need is someone to cling to. You be her rock. She won't let anyone else be it so far as I can see...and you seem to be strong enough to take it."
Adam
"She's my world," Adam said. "We've been best friends forever, but it took her years to figure out how I felt about her," he said, smiling.
Mouse
"Empathy can be handy." Mouse smiled. "But all these Hansons know too well how to hide what they're feeling from an empath. Annoying at times."
